Not to mention that if you're wearing ghilie which is necessary to stay cool in certain locations you get killed nearly instantly from a good mana. [link] [comments]  | ||

| I absolutely love ARK's "original" creatures Posted: 06 Feb 2019 06:00 PM PST So, I totally understand the concern and disinterest some people might have over the ARK devs releasing less and less "real" creatures and more fantastical ones. But I just wanted to gush about how much I love the original creatures that were created, especially the ones in Aberration and Extinction. The Rock Drake, the Reaper, the Gacha, the Snow Owl, the Titans...despite the problems that ARK has, I think I can safely say that I've been consistently impressed with their creature designs and animation. That hasn't changed when they've started doing their own thing. Like I said, people wanting more creatures from our planet's history is perfectly valid, as well as the concern over the increasing presence of TEK. But I sincerely hope the devs continue to branch out and try doing new things when it comes to creature designs*. And this is 100% my personal bias speaking, but I've loved the increasingly more prominent, visible sci-fi themes as the game's progressed. I feel like Extinction's map could use some rework and sprucing up, but the Horizon: Zero Dawn/Fallout aesthetic knocked it out of the park for me. I look forward to what they whip up next! *Yes, I know creatures like the Reaper aren't "original" and are blatantly based off of the concept of the Alien. But the design is different enough where the Reaper manages to still be horrifying all on its own. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Keeping your ride safe while you dive for pearls: Posted: 07 Feb 2019 10:49 AM PST I'll finally be able to craft the scuba gear tomorrow! I know how to use the resource map to locate pearls. And I have experience doing shallowish dives for pearls already. And yes. I know underwater caves and several underwater baddies give far more pearls than the clams. Usually I take my Argy to the southwestern snow biome, look around for threats, hop off, dive to the pearls, and quickly fly up to safety. But now that I'll have access to scuba gear I expect to be under for much longer. I'm a bit worried my Argy could get attacked while I'm under. Is there a safe way to dive for pearls without leaving my Argy vulnerable while I'm under? Any other advice? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 07 Feb 2019 03:29 AM PST Hi all, I'm looking for any tips/strat to solo a Red OSD on Extinction that does not involve a Giga? I just tried with 35x imprinted Rex's. The Rex's demolished the incoming wave - except they kept "standing" on the OSD, which causes significant damage. So I failed because my Rex's killed the OSD by wave 3. If I can keep the OSD alive, I'd be fine. I would have though Dino Leeshs would work, and keep the rex's "away" from the OSD, but the leesh's have really low HP and die super quick, especially when the Wyverns come in. I also tried Metal gateways, to keep the Rex's from walking on the OSD - but the Curropted kill them super quick, so that wont work. I am in the process of raising an imprinted Giga, but I was hoping to do some Red OSD before then. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Changed speed affinity but it didn't increase animal movement speed. Posted: 07 Feb 2019 08:51 AM PST Hello everyone! So I'm running an unoffical private xbox server via Nitrado. I wanted to give our flyers a boost to speed so I increased the "Tame Add" movement speed bonus. It seems to have effected all of our current tames' movement speed, which I had expected, but none of the tames with the increased movement speeds seem to be going any faster. I started small multiplying it by 5, but there was no effect. Then I moved up to 10, still no effect. Then I went up to 40, and there was still no effect. All of our dinos now have a movement speed in the range of 1000-3000, but they're all going the same speed they started with. To add to the confusion I tamed a Jeroba last night and it was very obviously moving at a speed even the AI couldn't control. Why did this effect the Jeroba and seemingly nothing else? EDIT: Just realized how intellegent I am. In the title I put that I changed "affinity". Which I did, but the "Tame Add" was the one that effected the speed of our tames. [link] [comments]  | ||

Posted: 07 Feb 2019 07:45 AM PST So, last night I stayed up till 2 AM figuring out how to extricate my TheIsland.ark from Nitrado's servers, and after I finally succeeded I tried to load it up in Larkator. "Unknown version 8827" I believe was the exact message. Is Larkator just not updated for the latest patch, or does it not support the arkxb format? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 07 Feb 2019 04:10 AM PST I've played quite a lot of ark (mainly either solo or in a tribe of up to 3) therefore I've never ventured into the boss fights or into the world of tek etc. However I've been looking on various trading pages (either Facebook or Xbox clubs) and lots of people specify the dinos are clones. Is there a reason to do so? Are clones worse in some way? Presumably they have no imprint but are there other drawbacks? I just want to be clear before I offer to buy a cloned Dino over the next few weeks. [link] [comments]  | ||

Will it be ok while im offline? I have the generator right on it at 1.6 range with 8 element in it, will that be enough to run it for 17 hours till the clones done? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 06 Feb 2019 08:03 PM PST I'm about at the end of my rope, because I cannot figure this out. Even after countless googling. Is the tek teleporter impossible to unlock in extinction? I spawned one in and I figured I'd try and spawn in a hard mode dragon and kill command defeat it, but it won't let me. It let's me summon in just the standard one but when I kill it I get nothing from it. It seems like somehow they'd let you use the tek teleoprter but idk how. Do I need to import my char over from a place where I've defeated the dragon? Would uploading my char then downloading it to the island, then uploading it and downloading it back to Extinction work? I'm worried that I'd somehow lose my character in the process, though. Any advice? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 06 Feb 2019 06:46 PM PST In the notes its heavily implied that broodmother Lysrix was the creature that dug out the Islands caves as seen in the araneo dossier and very early access gameplay when she spawned on top of the volcano like the titans. What might have been the story reason as to why she was taken away from the main Ark and stuffed into her arena? Considering the overseers were taking their programming too seriously and already making the Arks unbeatably difficult, I don't see how a giant spider would get in the way of their plans. | Posted: 06 Feb 2019 02:34 PM PST So they released the s+ integration beta for us to test and I like messing around with it to see what can be done with the new goodies but I also play on an official server. Each time I switch from the beta to main game or vice versa I have to download the same 7 gig update. So is it just overwriting other filers each time? If so does anyone know what files specifically so I could just save them else where and manually switch the files when I want to go back and fourth? Or does anyone know any other solution?
