| PSA: Console Taming and Animal Hoarding Posted: 13 Apr 2019 08:37 AM PDT Seriously. Don't start doing it. Even when you just want to have fun in creative mode, it is a slippery slope. You start with the 'early' tames; Trike, Raptor, maybe some Dodos. Then it gets worse. You see a lone Dire Wolf wandering the tundra and feel bad that it's by itself. A lone Jerboa that has somehow survived in a hostile desert full of predators. An Allosaurus that doesn't have an ugly color scheme. Emotions and aesthetic preferences start to override any rational thinking. Soon enough, you have a hoard of animals you may never actually use. Sure, they're nice for companionship. But then you have to start building shelters for them. Not so bad in Creative, though the size, scale and form of these enclosures may end up being time consuming to build. Supplying them with food and growing crops. Hoarding more tames that can provide supplies for kibble. Perhaps you want to have a bunch of them free-roaming an enclosure. If they are defenseless, you may tame creatures to defend them. You don't think they'll breed that quickly, or forget to spay/neuter them. Then you have to care for the babies. Your 'herd' overflows. In playing singleplayer, you have nobody to trade them to. You may become too emotionally bonded to them and refuse to slaughter them. Sometimes you release them in a safe place, but always worry that they might be in danger. So you may release more to protect them. It goes on and on and on until you are knee-deep in critters. It's a dangerous game you play when you can tame with a few keystrokes. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Raising gigas...glitch...problem Posted: 13 Apr 2019 05:29 AM PDT Their hp will try to heal higher than it should, causing the food to drain all the while healing, sometimes draining the food to 0 even with meat on it. It then continues to try and heal with 0 food and doesnt eat while its trying to heal. They were juvy and near troughs and had food. I had to force feed it before it died. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Dear Devs: Stop blocking legit base spots Posted: 13 Apr 2019 09:06 AM PDT I know of four op base spots. Only ever seen one in a YouTube video that was deleted shortly after. They are legit and you can get there without meshing. The problem is they are dev mapped with a code that says you cannot place structure here (on offical servers. You can build there on servers that allow clipping). I get that the spots are unraidable (1 definitely isn't and has like 7 entrances tf wildcard). Nothing is unraidable but it's as unraidable as you get in ark as you'd need to soak it in flak once you get enough turrets up. I'm starting official small tribes a little late. The plan was to move into one of those spots since every surface base gets raided by the people living below. I don't want to live in the mesh but if you're blocking out my cheeky hidden spots like that, idk what to do. The main point being that you can build anywhere in the mesh but you can't build in these legit spots. If the devs had started mapping the mesh or at least the main base spots' mesh , they'd have probably been done by now. Can you please hire someone to fly around in no clip and map these mesh holes/mesh base spots? It wouldn't be such an issue if the game wasn't dominated by people living in the mesh [link] [comments]  | ||

SingPlayer Offline Posted: 13 Apr 2019 04:38 AM PDT stumbled on an old forum discussion where I was looking into a mod for Dino's like the "Death Recovery mod" but for dinos. Someone said in the .ini files you can back up one of those files and if your dino dies just replace in the copied file.? Is there such a way, or easier yet a mod that does that? | Little taming effectiveness for spino with kibble [PC] Posted: 12 Apr 2019 09:34 PM PDT So unless the wiki is wrong i am using exceptional kibble to tame a level 135 spino and it is only giving me like 28% effectiveness i havent attacked the spino at all and nothing else has attacked it. TL;DR I'M GONNA VAN GOGH MYSELF I appear to be unable to use templates I've downloaded or created on Humans, Billboards, Single Panel Flags, Signs, Warmaps, and Canvasses. In an attempt to troubleshoot: I've made sure to open the files in ArkPnt and save them without changing any settings; saving them using ArkPnt after changing relevant settings; Saving them with the ARK Paint Converter; ensuring the color palette is correct by referencing the HEX values of the dyes to the color palette of the file within Photoshop; and renaming the template within the game's UI. None have had any measure of success. None of the creature paints appear to cause this disconnect, only things which appear to have more relative surface area. (That is, a brushstroke which covers significantly less area compared to painting creatures.) I've successfully used templates for a variety of creatures/dinos with varying degrees of complexity. (Creatures tested: Rock Elemental, Wyvern, Reaper, Ovis, Ankylo, Allo, Griffin, Argent, Microraptor, Rock Drake, Managarmr, Rex, Doed, Jerboa, Mosa, Megalodon, Megalania, Megatherium, Megalosaurus, Carno, and Mammoth.) From my searching around, the primary explanation from other random denizens of forums is that it's either ping-related or performance-related. However I'm inclined to disbelieve that is the case, because I have issues with neither ping nor performance. The Question(s)Has anyone else experienced this issue? Appreciate any input. Legit had five people roll up on squids, tentacle c4 mesh our cryo fridges, have another squid mesh the player to take cryo bags and back out before we could even get scuba on. Literal 15 second job from the first parasaur detection. We spotted them scouting about 20m before it happened so I'm assuming they squid meshed someone to see where cryos and everything were, since they hit it first try in 15 seconds. Wildcard, we are the people that put food on your table. It's time to step up to the plate. How many more thousands of people need to quit the game because you are incompetent of fixing ABSOLUTE CORE GAME PLAY PROBLEMS? Why not implement no characters allowed in name such as the classic [][][][] (which is what raided us.) No more 123s, or duplicate of the same username i.e. Human, Human1, Bob. Make people come up with a username. The prime opportunity since you're already having issues with people losing characters and the no auto decay. Why not create insta-killzones upon touching mesh? Kills you and your mount. Yes I know that will suck if you happen to find a hole by accident - but at least you won't be stuck in a hole unable to kill yourself for 5 hours and would greatly curve meshing. I love this game and have close to 10k hours in it, but damn, nothing gets done about cheating unless you have a pocket dev which 99.6% of people don't and so hard to prove cheating since you can't get true trackable names.....while you're online seeing it happen. We end up in some ice cave area thats just dead ends. We go back, and all of a sudden theres reapers fucking EVERYWHERE, we cant even move because 2 pop out of the ground. My friend finds a ledge to hide on, we both jump with karkinos to it. Reapers swarm us. Everywhere, fucking reapers. We eventually just said fuck it and jumped into the deadly purple shit. Rip literally our only good tames and all our op shit. Fucking retarded shit [link] [comments]  |
