| Posted: 20 Jun 2019 10:22 AM PDT Just looking for advice on how you guys start out. For me it goes like this: Spawn at a safe beach, make the inital set of tools. Start picking up berries and rocks and hitting trees until I level enough for the spear, then kill dodo's / dilo's until I level up enough for thatch foundations. Then I make and break thatch foundations to level up, and then eventually I can make a wooden house. I build a small 2x2x2 house with a sunken ceiling to eventually put pteranodon onto it. Then I keep getting bushes and make mortar and pestle and make narcotics, and build a 3x3 taming pen with a one way ramp for a trike to get stuck in, then I knock it out with slingshot and tame it. Takes hours. Then I gather a ton of extra berries and store them in a sparkpowder bin, and then work on getting rare berry seeds so I can start a farm and then make kibble from it. Then get a pteranodon and use that to get metal and then build a small metal base and get metal tools and that's it. What would you change? [link] [comments]  | ||

Posted: 20 Jun 2019 08:19 AM PDT Last time I played extinction was over 4 months ago and while I was playing it I was having a decent 50 FPS on low, I was fine with low. I take screenshots on epic with Ansel but my PC struggles to run it at 20 FPS I can no longer play the following maps due to massive lag which makes the game unplayable (can record a video) -extiction (massive lag unplayable) -abberation (lags sometimes when I launch it but when I relog a few times it doesn't lag) -scorched earth (lags sometimes when I launch it but when I relog a few times it doesn't lag) -valguero (massive unplayable lag every few seconds, I'm quite disappointed, was looking forward to this map a lot.) -ragnarok (it's OKAY, I can run it on low settings but not all times, when I'm whizzing around on a Griffin or flyer it lags like hell) -and a bunch of other custom maps only maps I can play is basically shigo islands and Ragnarok (both on low but a few months ago I could run all of those maps on 60 FPS on high graphics with resolution bar to 100%. I've played Ragnarok for a year now and I'm getting bored of playing it, I also play shigo islands but I don't like the map very much. I've spent money on the game and I'd like to enjoy it so any help would be appreciated. Ive tried all of the "-dd310 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES etc", this doesn't help at all. I've turned up my GPU usage to "maximum performance", it goes up to 80% and my CPU up to 60%. thanks for reading. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Designing a new map for singleplayer or small player number Posted: 20 Jun 2019 11:49 AM PDT I'm thinking of designing a map dedicated to playing solo or with a small number of other people (maybe up to 12 or 16). I'm inspired by the big maps like Ragnarok or Crystal Isles, but they're simply too expansive for me to enjoy playing on with an expectation to traverse biomes in a reasonable amount of time. My plan is to start with a map size about 1/4 the size of The Island (half the number of tiles along latitude and along longitude), and try to feature as many biomes as possible in a logical blend pattern from desert and tropics to snow. I'd like to include a story for the map told through ruins, caves, mini-bosses, and explorer notes. Keeping the map relatively small would allow people to get a little taste of everything without slogging through endless terrain of a single type, especially if it's unfinished (as is the fate of a lot of custom maps). Are there any features you, as someone who plays mostly single player or with a small group of people on a private server, feel like you're missing on the official maps or other giant custom ones that you'd like to be included? | Any tips for getting started with water taming / exploration? Posted: 20 Jun 2019 10:26 AM PDT So my friends and I have been trying to get started on water taming, but every attempt to get a foot hold has been a failure due to things like jellyfish, manta, and swarms of megalodon. None of our itchys or megalodons have survived more than a day because of this. Also if you know any good spots to build an underwater taming pen on the Island, I would appreciate it. | Can't connect to (almost) any servers PS4 Posted: 20 Jun 2019 10:09 AM PDT So I've had this issue since I got the game, I can't connect to any official servers apart from 2 that I can connect to for some reason. This pretty much makes it impossible to really play official, because I can't server hop or change servers at all. I know it's my internet because if I use a different connection it works fine. I've tried everything I can think of, port forwarding, resetting everything, reinstalling, nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Being reported for little things Posted: 20 Jun 2019 08:30 AM PDT So I'm on a crossark, and here things can sometimes get heated. The tribe we are up against is a complete clusterfuck and has been outside our cave for literally a month 24/7 and they are getting desperate. They have sent a dozen or so reports to WC that we know of for sure for a range of random stuff, in hopes that we could be dev wiped and they will not have to wipe us. I think once or twice a GM has come by, but aside from one of our members getting warned once about how a few statements could potentially be considered harassment, nothing has been done to warrant punishment (rightfully so, as we dont cheat or do anything shady - even had a GM in our cave twice, tho once it was to check mesh zones because we submitted a ticket unrelated to this tribe). As of today, they have resorted to reporting us for one of our tribe members inadvertently using the first name of one of their players on in-game chat. Nothing malicious, simply addressed them by it in lieu of their character or steam name. It should be noted that the "victim" in question has been on this CrossArk for nearly two years, and has for many months identified herself simply by her first name in multiple discords, one of which is the "crossark discord" used by a vast majority of the clusters players. They are also reporting us for one of our members for referencing a discord convo in which one of theirs admits to one of ours to using mesh exploits in a raid. They claim this is against ToS to say anything about exploits or meshing on the in-game chat which kind of makes sense but at the same time doesn't. We are laughing about it at the moment, yet at this point, it's becoming clear that if something like that is against ToS we could possibly be punished. If it is, we didn't know about it and won't do so again. But we would own up to it if questioned and explain the situation. What would that punishment even be? Also, at what point is it considered harassment to continually be reported for things that didn't happen or arent wrong? We have no intention of quitting, and have wiped more than half of their bases and pushed them off multiple maps. They have made zero progress on our cave, which is on their main map. It is just comin to a point where we are constantly worried about having to tip toe around because anything we say or do can and will be twisted and sent into a report. We arent the type to complain much but is there a process in WC to identity a pattern of reported game abuse that has not resulted in a single warning or punishment? This is just wasting GM's time from other legit things they should be doing. [link] [comments]  | ||

What I'm looking for right now is the ability to host a command-line-based dedicated server like described in this guide from the wiki. It seems as if it's only Steam-version applicable, does anyone have a solution, if I want to run a server on a computer, and also connect to it on the same computer? Thanks! [link] [comments]  | ||
