Who is GM Argos and why does he keep setting every ticket to solved?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 01:18 AM PDT

I'm just curious, I happily moved to another game trying to match my 3.2k hours of ark. so this isn't to be negative or salty.

Anyway I still submit tickets because I was brought up to believe wrong doing would be equally punished and 3 of my 20+ members can't let being defeted go. I would also like to play again after the offending tribe gets wiped.

Anyway 2 weeks ago after the third meshing I submitted a ticket under exploits, clear evidence of being meshed, full video of them blowing everything up from the mesh, me killing them with railgun + fire wyv auto looting specimen implants showing everything. them also glouting saying meshing isn't punishable it's a game mechanic. We played on an official crossark. 1 cluster of maps, easy to ban/wipe this tribe, they have a legit full mesh base.

So GM Argos sets my ticket as solved 3 days after, i kindly ranted to reddit and my ticket kindly got opend. 10 days later GM Argos sets it as solved again.

    (Previously post: https://www.reddit.com/r/playark/comments/bq5xiz/anti_mesh_metrics_broke_or_a_lie/?utm_source=reddit-android)

So GM Argos, who are you, why do you keep setting my tickets to solved? Are you in league with the Chinese tribe that meshed us? Do you like romantic walks on the beach?

    So many unanswered questions :(.

PSA: Do not place rafts in any cave

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 01:44 AM PDT

Many caves in Ark survival have water in them. In certain circumstances, players will be inclined to place a raft in them, whether this is to raid an enemy base, to safely move past hostile dinos, or to have an easy way to loot artifacts that may spawn within the cave.

However, water levels in caves are often lower than the main water level in the game. Also as you may have noticed, in many parts of caves, you will be running along the wall and suddenly be teleported outside. This is an anti cheat mechanic implemented by Wildcard a while back.

However, if you are riding a raft inside a cave, and accidentally trigger one of these teleport zones, your raft will be teleported to the next water level above the cave, whilst you are teleported outside of the cave as normal.

This is very problematic, as the raft will now appear to be underneath the mesh, and is completely inaccessible by all means. If this is seen by Wildcard, you and your entire tribe will be dev wiped and globally banned from the game. Even if you are the one to report the raft to them.

So in a nutshell...do not place rafts in any cave under any circumstances. It's basically a trap.

    Should we get more weapons?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 10:14 PM PDT

With the semi-hype around the new Dossier, I thought about something intriguing. As a die hard ARK fan, something I have noticed is the weapons. As much as we would all like bug fixes, content is even better in my opinion because I don't want to play the same stuff over and over again. Is anyone open to the idea of new weapons, weapon mod tables, weapon skins, gun racks, armor stations etc.? If so, drop some ideas and upvote. Maybe the devs will see it and consider some stuff.

When Did They Buff Death worms?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 01:57 AM PDT

I remember being able to take out a ton of these guys back to back without ever worrying about health. Now I have a fully imprinted 150 starting wyvern with 15k HP and I cant do two without healing between.

Also, when did wyverns stamina get needed? It took me like 40 levels to get from 500 to 2000!

    Experiences From A PvE Player

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 04:48 PM PDT

I was going to reply to this thread Struggling with Ascension and fun PVE progression but kept writing more and more and decided to just submit a post instead about my experiences with PvE.

5190 hours since December 20th 2015 PvE only

One of my favourite things to do when starting new is to capture low tier dinos and work my way up through the kibble tree, but that's gone now.

My friends and I started out on the Island during early access where we spent most of our time, ascension wasn't a thing back then so we never really got into it until recently. Caving and bosses are fun, I especially like how in some caves the dino cap is over 150, which should be default for all caves in ark.

After about 3k or 4k hours in ark, me and my friends all took a break from ark but returned when Aberration came out, we skipped Scorched Earth because it was a early access dlc cash grab.

The problem with ark is, from a PvE perspective, it would be no fun to go to a new map with your old characters and dinos, so what we do is we upload our dinos and character but start fresh whenever we go to a new map, I wish there was an option for "New Game+" where you could import a character to keep your engrams and tek grams, but you would start at level 1, which is most likely possible on a private server, but an official option to do it would have been cool.

Aberration - it was an amazing experience being our second map played, enviromental danagers and deadly creatures such as the ravager, exploration underground and on the surface, but after a while its flaws started to show.

    1. Lack of dinos - having no flyers was actually really fun, but the lack of land dinos was a big disapointment for me, I try to make my way through the kibble tree, and kibble tame everything when possible, but many dinos were missing, which made it seem like they rushed the release of aberration, which is even further backed up when they released two more dinos a month later instead of on release.

    2. Caves - The caves from a PvE perspective are terrible and outright horrible compared to some on the island. To me, the main goal of a cave is to reach the artifact, We'll start the first cave which I refer to as the waterfall cave, the problem with the cave is the layout, to reach the artifact you only go through about 20% of the cave barely fighting any creatures on the way, it's as if they put the artifact in the wrong location. The second cave, the water cave is probably my favourite cave in ark, It seems like 90% of delevoping caves went into making this cave and it paid off. The exploration, the danager, the use of new tools, the location of the artifact is far back in the cave so you actually have to fight your way there, it's perfect. The third cave, the radiation cave, makes no sense and is pretty much broken. You're meant to go in there on your Rock Drake, but none of the creatures aggro onto you while riding it... So nothing attacks you on the way to the artifact, there might be some creatures around the artifact, so you spend 10 seconds killing them, hope off your dino, grab the artifact and the cave is done. In the dev kit there is a fourth artifact in the aberration files, but it isn't used, which shows they had a fourth cave in the works probably, but due to time constraints they stopped.

    3. Bugs - There are two main bugs which really hurt the enjoyment playing Aberration. Number one would be gathering metal in the blue zone, there are tons of metal nodes with lots of plants around them, but when you try to harvest the metal nodes with your ankylo it prioritizes the plants over the metal node, so you're constantly moving around to avoid the plants or you have to spend time harvesting the plants with a sickle. But there's good news, and bad news... Supposedly they fixed this bug recently, I haven't checked myself but I assume they fixed it, which is good news. The bad news is this bug was in day one of Aberrations release which was December 12 2017, the patch that supossedly fixed this was released in April 16 2019, to fix such a simple but irritating bug took them 16 months to fix, which should have been fixed when they fixed the next bug. The next bug was the karkinos weight bug, even when overburdened it could still jump, so you would carry someone riding an ankylo to farm massive amounts of metal filling multiple industrial forges. Seeing as they haven't fixed it, it must been intentional and not a bug, so everyone got use to it, but after a month or two they fixed it, which put everyone in an awkward spot, something that people were doing early on which they that was okay was removed, something that you were use to doing for the past month suddenly removed which affected the pace or flow you were use to. If this was such a big issue why didn't they fix it within the first week, or better yet the first day? Why was the karkinos bug prioritized over the harvesting bug? I assume the karkinos bug was more of a PvP issue, the harvest bug was viewed as a PvE issue and pushed backed, way back.

Ragnarok - I won't go into to much but this was a fun laid back experience. The caves were fun, lots of creatures including content from Scorched Earth, an overall better experience compared to the other core maps.

Extinction - a very interesting map which I feel conflicted about. I'm not a huge fan of the enviroments such as large wastelands and having the other biomes pushed into corners of the map in bubbles but it's part of the lore/storyline which makes it okay in the end. I'll go into some of the same issues of the other maps.

    1. Caves - Again, the purpose of caves should be an adventure to reach the artifact, it should be a challenge to complete it and feel rewarding for completing it. The first issue that all the caves share is that you can fit a GIGANOTOSAURUS in each of them completely destroying any challenge posed to the player, most of the creatures inside the caves won't even aggro onto you when riding a giga, so you could tame a level 5 giga and finish all the caves in a single day, ridiculous. Before I knew you could fit a giga inside the caves I took a peek at the snow cave, there are tons of high level creatures and purlovia which would dismount you off your dino, so the plan I came up with was to breed high level doedicurus and pump points into heath, then I would command them via whistles to bait the purlovia out, but I ended up abandoning this idea when I found out you could just bring a giga in. Overall the layout of all the caves is what I want, the artifacts are tucked far back in the caves with lots of creatures to fight, but I never got to experience the journey due to giga's being able to fit inside.

    2. Orbital Supply Drops & Elemental Veins - One of the best things for a PvE player, and one of my favourite mechanics in ark. In the past I would think to myself "What's the point of a super bred Giga if I can't take it to a boss battle or "I would really love a bred battle bronto but I can't take it in the boss arena, so what's the point?" but finally there's a challenge for PvE players. OSD and EV were fun at first at the low-medium difficulty level with any dino you wanted, but when you got to the higher difficulties you needed something like a giga which was okay, but even then there came a point where you needed even more power which brings us to the next problem, Titans. At first OSD and EV were challenging but when you started doing purple drops and wanted to go far you needed a titan which completely trivialized the content, it should have been a tribe effort with 100+ dinos to reap the rewards, but all it took was a single titan to solo them. Early on when you only had to surive 3 ways I was able to solo purple drops with the desert titan, again with most things in ark it was due to aggro issues, I would send my flock of birds to attack and most dinos would go after the flock instead of attacking the drop, any dinos that did go after the drop I would just zap with lightning. Eventually they made it harder by increasing the amount waves you have to survive before you could open the drop to 7 ways I believe and they might have changed the aggro a bit so the dinos ignore the flock and go straight for the drop but I could be wrong, either way the drop was taking too much damage to solo, so I tried out the Ice Titan. For soloing the Ice Titan is completely broken, again I was able to solo purple drops but even better than the Desert Titan due to a single special attack. The ice breath freezes all enemy dinos including alphas, gigas, and wyverns which completely destroys any challenge, if anything gets close to the drop I just freeze everything. the cooldown for the ice breath is very short, maybe 20 seconds or less which is completely broken. With the way the ice titan is right now I have 0% chance of losing when soloing a purple drop, even if they increased the cooldown to maybe a minute I would still have a high chance of winning due to me just standing on the drop and attacking normaly when enemies get near. overall, OSD and EV should have been a tribe effort or multiple tribes coming together to tackle the hardest PvE content but instead Titan's ruined what should have been a challening experience.

    3. Gacha - An interesting creature, Extinction lacked lots of enviromental resoruces and instead of taking time to spead them across the map, they chose to add everything to a single creature, which I like and dislike. Instead of going out to farm metal, you would go afk at base with a metal gacha, wanted aberration resources? go afk and wait at base, wanted crystal? go afk. I liked how you couldn't just stack a bunch close, you had to space them apart with a male and female, then set up snow owls around them to feed them, then feed them other resorces to get them to drop crystals more often. It was fun and sometimes they would drop special crystals which would contain loot which was exciting, and with war maps they would drop special crystals more often, so if you wanted to target farm special crystals you could, if you just wanted your normal crystals for resources you could just feed them normally, but eventually they decided to nerf the gacha a month later which I assume was for PvP. Again we're at the same situation we had with the karkinos, everyone became accustomed to using it and thought it was fine if Wildcard wasn't fixing it, but then they fixed it a month later instead of fixing it during the first week. Now players are once again at a awkward spot, they have tons of resources and loot, and now they know they won't be getting anymore and over time their resources will go down instead of up which causes some players to loose interest because what was really fun for them was suddenly taken away which they thought was fine because it's PvE and they had been using it for a month without problems. It's a weird situation, Extinction lacks any sort of meaningful on foot PvE content yet we still want better gear such as shotguns and armours, it's fun getting a 700% damage shotgun and wondering when you'll get a 705% or if you'll ever hit 800%, for PvE players it's fun collecting but Wildcard doesn't want that

    4. Tek Gear - For the first time me and my friends got to experience tek gear at the end game, and for the most part it was fun but then I started thinking "what's the point of tek gear?" While building and experiencing new tek structures are fun I'm mostly refering to tek armour. Extinction lacks any sort of on-foot PvE content, while it is cool wearing bad ass armour with jet packs, super fast movement while running and swimming, negating fall damage, night vision, etc, for what reason do I need this powerful gear for? What cave was created with tek gear in mind? Is there any content where you can only reach with the use of jet packs? From the looks of it, there isn't any challenging content for tek gear in PvE and maybe even PvP but I wouldn't know.

    5. Engrams - Almost forgot about this, me and my friends only use 1 server to play a map at a time, Extinction has engrams from SE and Aberration but are locked for some reason, the normal way would be to go to another map and learn the engrams then go back to extinction but if you mindwipe you can't learn the engrams again and would need to go back to learn them, for us we would need to upload our character, go to single player download the character, learn the engrams, upload the character, go back to the server, download your character, but if you mindwipe you would need to do that all over again which is stupid, they should have done what the ragnarok map did, in the end we just ended up editing the ini so everyone has aberration and SE engrams unlocked for free to fix their problem.

If me and my friends were going to start a new map we would probably start new characters but would make it so you have all engrams unlocked for a pseudo new game+ experience

I'm curious if other players feel the same way about things, as others have pointed out in the other thread, the only way to really have fun in PvE is to start new playthroughs whenever you start a new map, and using mods to to enhance the experience because the default game lacks any sort of direction in PvE, and as time goes on it looses what little direction it had due to changes to the base game.

Question about private servers for pS4

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 12:56 AM PDT

So I've heard that the only way to have a private server for PS4 is have another ps4 dedicated to hosting it? That can't be the only way surely? Please note I'm extremely new to Ark. I don't enjoy the online experience and want to play with friends privately.

How to disable Mantis on Extinction?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 12:52 AM PDT

I'm a completionist, what can I say? And it bugs me that the only mantis on Extinction are untameable cave versions. So like the title says, I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a way to disable the Extinction mantises without getting rid of them on other maps like Scorched and Ragnarok. I've tried looking up creature Id's on the wiki but can't seem to find if there's a separate ID for the cave version. Can anyone help out an OCD person like me? You are a beautiful person if you do. And probably still are if you don't. Probably.

(Or alternatively, is there an ini options to add wild tameable mantises into Extinction instead? Thanks!)

found a used copy of Ark on switch for $35 last night...

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 05:29 AM PDT

I hadn't heard that Wild Card released it and immediately shafted it, i assumed it was similar to the ps4/xb1 release of the game.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT WILD CARD?!

I love Ark and own it for PS4 and thought the idea of having a mobile version of the game would be awesome! however the patch is not current, it doesnt say anything about the same game news that is mentioned on pc, ps4 and xbox.

There is no free dlc in the switch eshop! why isn't there at least the free game mode Primitive +, and the 2 free dlc maps, Ragnarok and The Center on the eshop? where is the paid story dlc maps? where is the season pass? where are the purchasable dino skins?

I hate to say it but you really should tell people why the switch version hasnt been updated, and why it has no dlc on it though the other versions of the game do. you need to tell people if the game has been abandoned or just super delayed.

apparently Abstraction Games, the ones that handle the console versions of the game have been without news, the fan base for Ark is without news, when are you gonna give us info on why Ark on switch is pretty much dead? when are you gonna put out the EXTREMELY delayed dlc and patch content?

I am very tempted to take the game back later today and return it for Dark Souls remastered for switch.

S+ 'G' Key not turning of snapping

    Posted: 03 Jun 2019 01:22 PM PDT

Running Ark Server. Currently on 296.101.

I noticed on some old posts here that there were S+ issues with the March patches. My server is only a couple weeks old so I didn't experience those issues. But I'm wondering if other users are unable to disable snapping with 'G'. Everywhere I look it says that's supposed to allow you freeform place things, but it doesn't do anything. Maybe this is a residual issue with the things that happened in March?

Let me know if I"m just missing something here. Need to fill in some holes on a base where snapped foundations are obstructed.
