    Help Wanted (admins)

    Howdy, I am trying to recruit some additional admins for my 25x PVP server. Below is our Discord link so that you can check out info on the server and start dialogue with me and I have also included our direct links to check out the servers themselves. I am also planning on building a second cluster, and as a way to compensate my admins for their time I will be giving VIP status to Admins for the server cluster they don't "work" for. For the moment though, it'll be all hands on deck for this server. I am looking at also building a larger brand beyond the Ark Survival Evolved. Let's build a new kind of culture in Ark?

    Where Angels Fear to Tread (WAFTT) is a 4 map PVP cluster that regularly posts events! The admins strive to create a friendly environment to maintain constant BLOOD, DEATH AND DESTRUCTION and amiable resolution on the other end of the fight. Make sure to join discord to have access to constant communication with the admins and to keep an eye on future updates, adjustments and events! We are currently maintaining a 6 month wipe schedule and actively looking for violent (yet, polite) survivors to add to our player base.

    Admin Application:

    First off you will need to read all of the rules for the Admins. Sending your application will be your acknowledgement and acceptance of all rules, admin and player alike.

    You will need to submit the following information:

    First Name and Last Name. This info will be for Drackus and Legend only. It is your choice to disclose that info to the population, but, if I am going to trust you, you need to trust me.

    General hours of availability. IRL happens and sometimes you can't be around for your usual "shift". All I will ask is that if you can't be around when you usually are, communicate to either the admin team or the whole population.

    Do you have any professional background that translates to useful skills for this position?

    Recognize that I will not immediately grant Admin Access. We will spend at least a couple weeks building a relationship till I feel confident in your capabilities and that you will mesh well with our team and support the environment we are striving for. The culture we are building is vital to the cluster's future! Joining in communications in discord and building relationships now is a great way to start proving yourself to me.

    Also recognize that you will be on probation for the first couple months and I will be investing a lot of time investigating all commands you use. During this time I will expect you to be prepared to justify your actions in game.

    Anyone tribe on Xbox recruiting for official pvp or small tribes?

    Been playing solo for a little while and whilst I have been enjoying it, I'm looking to join a tribe so I can get involved in some of the things that aren't really possible as a solo player.

    Dedicated Server Help

    A friend and I have been working on getting a dedicated server up and running for a few days now. If it matters, we've been using Empower Servers (not looking for commentary on how good or bad this particular hosting site is--what's done is done).

    Empower has a separate section where they link you directly to the server's GameUserSettings.ini and game.ini for ease of access. After about two days of wondering why nothing I put in the game.ini was actually affecting the server, I went into the server's files manually and found a third ini (Game.ini --capital G). I copy/pasted everything I had written in the game.ini file into this one, and it fixed the settings completely, exactly how we wanted them.

    Problem is that ever since doing that, every time we log in to test the server, it deletes all of the .mod files from the mod folder (generating a version mismatch error for anyone else who tries to log in). The only two fixes for this that I have found are to turn off auto mod management (done), and to clear the Game.ini file (aka the only way I've found to make our settings work). We're ready to farm this out to someone.

    A few notes:
    -There are no errors in the code I'm writing in the ini's, most of that started as a copy/paste straight from my single player ini

    -Everything is in the right folder, the mods themselves all work just fine when they're not having their .mod files wiped

    -There is no combination of deleting/reinstalling the mods or shutting down/waiting/reactivating the server that has fixed this

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Surviving: Ark Survival Evolved

    The #1 rule if Ark. Is GRIND, GRIND, GRIND. Its essential to get that max level of 100+ depending on the server you're playing on. 

     *You want to get to level 38 as quickly as you can. This is the level you can craft a ptera saddle! This flyer is essential to new players.

    But first things first. *You need to get your little starter base started. Nothing too fancy, just a 3x3 base is good- do stone to avoid your base being easily raided while you are grinding out materials. You will eventually be leaving to find a better location later on anyways. 

     ** avoided getting too many tames ** this will make it hard to transport *In your base you will need several structures. - A bed (For a spawn point if you die) - At least 1-2 LARGE storage chests. **They are good for lvls too** - 2 or 3 motar and pestals. ***"GRIND,GRIND,GRIND"*** You will need to make LOADS of narcotics. - 3 forges, these are expensive to make but are VERY good for getting those levels. **When you are smelting metal put 1 full stack of 200 metal in each before filling this will smelt more ingots efficiently. - You will need one preserving bin to make yourself some jerky. **Jerky is good for kibbles. Kibble means Less time taming and high bonus level for the tame as well. AVOID EATING IT because it takes a bit to turn into jerky. -A smithy is very important as well. It will allow you to make impoved tools which will allow you to get even more materials. (Get 28 raw metal- 28 raw will give you 14 Ingots. That will be enough to give you a Smithy, 1 metal pick and 1 metal hatchet) ***Make duplicates for your other base*** ×××Dont forget to eat. Eat berries if you need but make a campfire and cook meat. Keep ALL your spoiled meat, hide, and definetly any keratin/Chitin. Any cooked meat you Don't need put it in the preserving bin.×××

    -By this point you should be level 38, if not you shpuld be very close. This is when you need to grind the last bit of materials needed to get the ptera.

    -The level does not necessarily matter, but don't go for pleeby level 50s. Try to aim for anything above 100. To ensure the ptera has better stamina and weight as this will be beginning flyer.

    -Craft a few bolas, 2-3 should do the trick. The bola will only last a short period of time so don't waste them unless you're ready.

    -Depending on the level ptera you find, the amount of Trans arrows will vary. I recommend having at least 100 and a bat to be back up in case you run out.

    ×××Another thing, if you do not have a crossbow just yet (they are decently expensive unless you find one in a loot crate), use 2 bows. Ensure that they both have Tranq arrows as their ammo incase one if them breaks. Those 5 seconds to repair your bow can be crucial when trying to knock out a flying creature.

    • When creating your tranq arrows, remember not to use all of your narcotics as you may need these to keep your ptera down until it is ready for food. I reccommend saving 5-10 depending on its level and taming speed you may need more or none at all.

    -As for taming method this is your choice. If you would like the taming method to speed up- use the correct kibble(Regular kibble). ××× You can create this kibble by taming a carno, carbonemys (turtle), dimetrodons, etc. Download SA companion or Dododex if you would like the full list of which dinos create which kibbles.××××

    -If you do not wish to use the kibble method regular; use mutton, prime meat, or raw meat. This will definetly affect your taming time and affectiveness.

    -Make sure you have plenty of food for yourself and the ptera.

    ****TRY YOUR BEST to not hit the ptera after it has been knocked out. If it's torpor is low force feed it narcotics or narcoberries.

    -Many people like to use the starving method. Meaning they will have either a timer or they will only periodically check on the ptera to see how low its food is. Once the food is half way, they place the taming food in the pteras inventory and shortly after the dinosaur will pop up and be yours!

    -Depending on the server you are playing on this may take some time but be patient. This is another good time to GRIND away.

    -Get that saddle ready while the ptera is knocked out. You will need Chitin and/or keritin for its saddle. You can also make this one in your inventory instead of the smithy.

    After you have tamed your Ptera its time to find that perfect location. Dont worry about your base or any tames you may have accumulated. Just shut your door and maybe take your most valuable.

    -you may notice your ptera has little stamina and hardly any weight. You may need to level up your flyer some before you can adventure. **Place your points however, but the most important is weight,stamina, and maybe health right now.

    -Once you have either got the levels you needed or decide to chance adventuring without, fly to your hearts content.

    -Look for whatever kind of area you want. Once you've decided, start looking for the gathering dinos!

    -You'll need a stone, thatch, and a wood gathering tame. 

     **LEVELS DONT REALLY MATTER RIGHT NOW**

    -Get a Doedicurus for stone. -A MALE Megaloceros for thatch. It is very important to get the megaloceros with antlers; the female will NOT gather thatch. You can also use the doedicurus for thatch if you do not want to get another tame. -You can choose between a beaver or a mammoth for wood. They both do very well with gathering wood. look online if you need help learning how to tame these

    DONT start building an immaculate base just yet. You want to build some sort of defense to protect yourself and new tames. You can have another 3x3 base to protect your current crafting structures. But the better one is soon to come. So dont stress.

    Start gathering as much stone,thatch, and wood that these tames can carry. And then grind out as many dinosaur gates and doors as you can. Eventually you will replace all of these with behemoth gates/doors.

    From here the rest is up to you. Some of the best dinos to get are the gathering ones. You should definitely try to obtain some of these:

    -A frog (Chitin and CP GALORE) -ANKY (For metal) -Therizinosaurus "edward scissor hands" (Fiber) -Rex (Good for many- meat, boss fight, and fighter) - Saber (weak but gets best hide and chitin) -Dunkleosaurs (oil) -angler fish (silica pearls)

    **This is all base off personal experience and opinions. Not all will agree. But this method ALWAYS works for me.**
