Alphas.... Alphas EVERYWHERE!

Is anyone else having the problem of Alphas spawning constantly near your base or just you in general?? My bro and I keep experiencing the wrath of the OP Untamable creatures. 3 alpha raptors, 2 alpha carnos, and a alpha rex just appear and wreck our stuff.

EDIT Forgot to mention I am on a PVP official server

Can you not save your progress?

I got the explorer edition on sale for 20 bucks. I started playing on an official server and when I was done, I just exited the game because that's how it usually works. I loaded it back up later, and there was no option to continue. I selected play last server, and it had me make a new character. Is my progress lost?

What's the preferred method to play these days?
