Okay, quick question, how do you breed Wyverns? I've got some Wyverns now and they don't seem to want to mate..? I'm on single player ragnarok, trying to breed fire Wyverns if that's relevant.

Does anyone have some basic rule of thumb stuff they don't mind sharing about the gigas?

I had some questions. And I answered some sort of. And others not so much.

I can understand math pretty well above average. But the equations on this page are a bit much. ( https://ark.gamepedia.com/Creature_Stats_Calculation )

I see that when I see Giga's in the wild. Their health does not vary much really between levels.

Obviously the difference between a lvl 5 and a 150 can be big. But for instance between a level 10 and a lvl 75. Not that big. (That I've seen) which tells me the health function just starts with a large base.

However, tamed they get a huge subtraction and then each additional tamed level doesn't provide that much.

But, a bread imprinted giga got some big upgrades. (i double checked and I don't see any imprinting buffs on my dedi) on health, but not as much on melee.

The percentages don't seem to add like percentages of other dinos. Seems like the melee gets astronomical in low percentages (like 200% etc) I don't think I have that boosted (much) either. Anyways.

Does anyone know of any cheat sheets or common little equations that don't require a masters in calc to understand?

Or is it really just hope and pray etc.

Big rant and idea

I've been actively searching around Reddit , Facebook , etc and coming across all these radicals servers where your stats/rates are crazy high !

It might just be me but I really miss the way the old ark use to be on official , and yeah I'm fully aware people mainly went to unofficial due to the amount of time they spent on official just to lose everything . But I mean Hey ! That's what makes Ark , ARK ! It's about raiding , taming your Dino's and having to worry about a dilo or raptor coming up and munching on that 150 Rex you've been trying to tame the past 6 hours and having to protect it from other players !

Like I miss how ark was without all the Tek and bs easy ways to get materials ! I want a challenge not joining a server and have thing given to me aka the "starter kits" , I mean yeah it's helpful and I'm usually forced to start giving it out so new players can play but I mean ....idk maybe it's just me .

I'm really considering making a PS4/PS5 server with just one map , no tek , no high rates maybe like 3 times ! But I really just want to actually ply ark like the old days !

I know I've been ranting but I really did enjoy ark a lot more back in 2015-2017 when stuff was simple and fun and you didn't have everyone crying over getting raided or bc they lost a Dino .

Idk....if anyone would like I'm taking down names and sending discord links to people who would like to join up with me and play an ... let's call it .....Old School Ark !

Gatherer dinos and weight leveling?

The wiki keeps telling me: Gatherer: Thorny Dragons gather wood extremely efficiently. (Level up Weight)

Does that mean more levels in weight = more ressource per gather action or just having more room for more ressources?

I always thought damage = more ressource?

Set which display ark should use?

Heyo, so I've been wanting to play ark again, and I recently got a new monitor with a higher refresh rate and better resolution, I want ark to use this monitor instead of my other crappier one (which I use for drawing), but no matter what I do, Ark will still start on my original monitor.

I've tried using windowed mode and moving it to the correct monitor, then setting it to fullscreen, but it will still be using 1080p instead of 2k, and it defaults to the other monitor after closing and reopening the game. I've also tried playing around with Ark's display settings but nothing fixes this. The closest I got to fixing this issue was disabling my original monitor temporarily and allowing ark to default start on the correct monitor, it was only then that it finally detected the correct resolution of 2k, but after re-enabling my other monitor, it will still start on the old one.

I'm wondering if there is setting in the .ini files that will set which display to use? I just want ark to start on the correct monitor by default.
