Stop telling wildcard to “fix” Ark

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:04 AM PST

Ok hear me out on this. So i always hear people saying on twitter or youtube comments "wildcard fix your game" blah blah blah. Im making this post to help people understand, as a programmer myself how they physically can not fix their game and how "Ark 2" is their way of fixing it. Ark was a very poorly thrown together indie game at launch and therefore the code was awkwardly written and not well optimised at all. They have continued to build on that dodgy base code to build the game into what it is today so for that they have done very well. For wildcard to "fix" ark they would have to essentially rewrite most of the games source code as it is just too far in to be a simple bug fix. This is why they are making ark 2, to start fresh with the knowledge they now have and make the game they really want to. If you want any idea of how badly written ark is just go you your ark folder and hit properties. Ark has over 110,000 files with no mods. Compare that to another big game like borderlands 3 or dark souls for example which lie low at 4,000 or even subnautica if you want to compare survival games which only has 3,500 files. The game is too deep in to fix now, enjoy gen 2 and wait for ark 2. Give them some time. Theyve been building on a 5 year old game, so yeah it feels like that now. Thats all hope that makes sense to y'all

There was a woman standing still for hours by my base so I decided to check it out. Turns out she was sleeping standing up. A few rounds of “drag the body and make it spin around” and this happened.

My partner is a real gamer girl but doesn’t have a system of her own atm. She said she wanted to play Ark with me when we’re away, so I got her set up as part of her V Day surprise. Don’t worry, she has watched me play enough to know the games downfalls and I have her a thorough tutorial in local.
