Is there any way to lock the S+ variants of the tek engrams behind boss kills, so it requires u to kill the specific bosses to unlock the normal tek engrams AND the s+ variants? cant find anything about that topic

A question about recipes from a new player

So I've only been playing for 2 days, and I'm avoiding looking up 99.9% of anything in this game, and went in blind. But something I cannot for the life of me figure out is how to find recipes themselves. I see in game there is a bookshelf that suggests you can put recipes in there, so there must be a way to get them in game, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

I'm aware there are websites that you can just look up the recipes, but I want to figure things out on my own as I can without looking them up.
