Posted: 04 Jul 2021 06:34 AM PDT I'm currently preparing to do Alpha Rockwell solo on Aberration. The best shotgun that I found so far has about 246% damage. Is that enough damage to kill him within the time limit (playing on server)? I did test it on singleplayer and it roughly kills each tentacle within 10 shots. Not sure if I should keep looking or if that'll be enough. [link] [comments]

I don't really understand the Federation Exo Armor Skins Posted: 04 Jul 2021 11:32 AM PDT I'm playing Gen 2 since yesterday (didn't play Gen 1 at all) and I'm a little bit lost regarding the new armor you spawn with. Up until now I thought that it kinda works like a stand alone armor at the beginning and as a skin afterwards. Meaning that you can wear it on its own at the beginning and then put it on stronger armor (for example chitin) to get the higher armor rating while still being able to fly around and so on. I crafted chitin armor a while ago but couldn't equip the Federation Exo Armor Skin to it. What's the point of the skin then? I mean because of the huge movement benefits it makes other armor, up until the actuall tek armor, basically useless since the map is so humongous but on the other hand the armor rating is so low that you die way to easy even if you invest a lot into health. Do I really have to rely on it up until I get the tek armor, if I don't want to lose out on those movement benefits? [link] [comments]

Warning: LONG SUGGESTION - Tek Pocket Dimensions Posted: 03 Jul 2021 07:42 PM PDT Summary for those who don't have an hour to read the whole thing: A reimagining of my previous idea, the TEK Pocket Dimension. Accessed via an addon one can craft for their Survivor Implant which teleports you to your very own Pocket Dimension. It's the TEK equivalent of platform saddles. It acts as a safe environment located within a small enclosed space inside the Genesis Simulation, separate from the main map and completely inaccessible by anyone who isn't within the tribe who created it (by default, can be toggled). Sacrifice Platform Saddled Dinos to HLNA to further increase the size and limit of items. You may also adjust the theme of your Pocket Dimension. To help I've bolded key points so you don't have to read through the whole blocks of text if you don't want to. Long Form: General Explanation: Tek Pocket Dimensions are located in the Genesis Simulation, created by HLNA to help give survivors the edge in extreme survival situations. The Tek Pocket Dimension (or T.P.D. for short), is an item that allows survivors to have a small private space to hold their most valuable items in relative safety. The TPD is an item that creates a private area for a Tribe separate from the main landmass of the map. This space does not spawn any dinosaurs or resources of any kind (bar a small amount of water on some themes) and is a relatively small space. Specifically, it's the same size of various platform saddles one can craft for a number of different dinos. Here survivors can build a small base shielded from the outside world. They can store a limited number of items, and dinosaurs, in this space. It's essentially a small inaccessible platform base you carry around in your pocket wherever you go, just make sure you don't get caught trying to teleport to it! WHAT DO I NEED TO ACCESS THE POCKET DIMENSION? HLNA requires a few things from the Survivor in order to create the Pocket Dimension: Firstly, a dinosaur with a Platform Saddle attached. This will be what determines how much your pocket dimension can hold, as it's entirely tied to the Platform Dinosaur you choose to 'sacrifice' to HLNA, who will use the dinosaur as a blueprint to create an artificial realm with your Platform Dinosaur as the foundation. Doing so permanently consumes the dinosaur and the attached saddle so be warned! Fear not their life however, as you will see your same Dino (or a functionally identical copy of it made out of binary instead of genetic code) within your Pocket Dimension. These Dinos are unique in that while they inherit the colors and name of the creature you sacrificed, they now (being programs) cannot starve or run out of stamina. While you can sit on the saddle, they cannot be ridden around like a normal dinosaur, nor can you access their inventory, they're just there to hold your base up. :) This allows for things like the Quetzal to fly in its Sky-Themed Pocket Dimension without having to worry about it landing or needing stamina! (Not that there's anywhere to land in that theme anyway...) As a side note, the Mosa and Plesi have Water themed Dimensions, while the Bronto/Paracer/Titano have small Sandbar themed Dimensions. More themes could be unlocked if you own DLCs, like a Desert Theme for scorched earth, Cave theme for Abberation, etc. Secondly the Pocket Dimension Addon for your Survivor Implant. There are three tiers of addons you can craft. Gamma-Sized Dimensions at level 30, Beta-Sized Dimensions at level 60, and Alpha-Sized Dimensions at level 90. The Difference between these tiers is the size of platform saddle allowed within. Gamma Allows for the Quetzal (40 Structures) and Paracer (32 Structures) Platforms. Beta unlocks the Plesiosaur and Mosasaur Platforms (50 Structures each) as well as the Bronto Platform (63 Structures) to be used. Alpha is the big one, unlocking the Titanosaur Platform (250 Structures). These addons are crafted within Loot Drops, with the Alpha Pocket Dimension being the only tier that requires Element to craft. The other two should only require basic resources like the Cryopod. ONCE CRAFTED HOW DO I ACCESS MY POCKET DIMENSION? The Pocket Dimension can be accessed from anywhere so long as the survivor has crafted the relevant addon for their Survivor Implant, which persists even through death. By right-click using the Implant one can activate a sequence in which HLNA begins a teleport to your Pocket Dimension, which takes around 60 seconds to complete. This can be done from anywhere so long as you're located on the same server you created the Pocket Dimension in, as well as being in the same tribe. In order to leave you may use the same process to return you to the main map from the point you teleported from initially, or choose a random spawn. This is to help give a counter to people attempting to use this feature in PvP, should they successfully teleport out Please note that Pocket Dimensions are character and tribe bound. Meaning if your tribe creates a Pocket Dimension in Server 1, and you hop to Server 2 to try and use another Tribe's Pocket Dimension or create another one you will not be allowed to do so. The only way to create or link your character to another tribes Pocket Dimension is to either destroy your previous one (permanently consuming everything left within including your sacrificed dino base) or to wait for a 48 hour timer since visiting your old Pocket Dimension. This is to help prevent people from making alts to use them as an easy storage for mass amounts of items. WHAT CAN'T I DO INSIDE THE POCKET DIMENSION? You can do everything you can do with a Platform Saddle! However there are some restrictions I'll cover quickly:
THIS SOUNDS REALLY OP. IS THIS EVEN NECESSARY? Tek Pocket Dimensions help solve an issue the game has had for years: New or Solo players getting their progress completely wiped with no avenue for recourse or option to rebuild within PVP. Given the nature of the TPD, it disproportionately helps new or solo players more than it helps big or mega tribes. Big or Mega tribes can still find it useful, but the platform saddle limit will eventually stunt the growth of larger tribes, and they'll need to break out of the Pocket Dimension to have any real chance at being Alphas on their servers. No more seeing people ask "Where can I build so I don't get wiped? :(", because now they'll have a place to do so. This also encourages a more healthy PvP environment. With more people able to build up a bit before being wiped, there's more competition. More well kitted competition at that. People who have a TPD are now encouraged to go out and PVP because now they're only risking what they're willing to lose, without having to worry that attacking someone means risking and losing everything they own. A blessing that only Mega Tribes could boast about having before Pocket Dimensions came about. It's also less OP than one might think. Ever tried being an alpha Tribe while operating outside of a small base that takes 60s to access no matter where you are, with an un-cryo'd dino limit of 10 , while also having a structure limit? It's next to impossible. Even on Small Tribes servers none of the 6 man tribes are going to be using Pocket Dimensions for much other than fire insurance. COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
The answer is yes, they can keep their most valuable blueprints/tames inside the Pocket Dimension. I'll answer that question with another question; Why do Tribes who have thousands of heavily mutated Gigas and maxed out Blueprints raid people still? Because they find it fun (I assume). Also this question is often made in bad faith because it's generally a non-issue. Most (if not all) tribes won't keep their breeders or best BPs locked inside Pocket Dimensions because of how often they use them. Most people who ask this question aren't thinking about raiding bigger (meaning riskier) tribes, but small or solo players who might have got lucky at a mission or loot drop that they're willing to wipe completely for (because there's no consequence for doing so). With Pocket Dimensions there's now at least a small amount of risk on those who are willing to wipe any small bases they see because now those players will have the means to immediately retaliate if they wish.
It does quite a bit actually! It's the Tek step up from basic platform saddles, a natural evolution of the Tek grade equipment. It gives PvE players a reason to chase for those lesser used dinos while also rewarding them for doing so by giving them a nice mobile pocket sized base! It makes sky-bases finally viable (any platform base really)! Basically just a better platform saddle.
As I stated earlier it takes 60s to teleport away from a given area, much like how you teleport in Gen 1 the teleport sphere is the same size. It'd be difficult to find a situation to teleport out in an active pvp situation. However if they do manage it, you may camp where they teleported out from or build a turret tower around there to prevent them from teleporting back easily, forcing them to use the random spawn to get out instead.
Basically this but without the creatures, details on the ocean floor, or the island in the background. For the Sky Theme you'll just be in a "big" open sky with some clouds (Only accessible by the Quetzal). For the Water Theme just a "big" ocean that only goes deep enough to submerge a Mosasaur Platform base completely before hitting a sandy bottom. For the Sauropods you'll be standing on a Sandbar island with small amounts of water on the edge (only goes up to your head before hitting the world border). A better example is the "Survive the ARK" challenge in Gen2 with its constantly shifting skybox. I'll try to add pictures for this in a bit if people like the idea enough.
By default the only people who can access your Pocket Dimension is yourself and members of the tribe that created it. You may allow them to see it by linking their Addon with your Dimension after inviting them to your tribe and waiting out the 48 hours. This is to help prevent enemy players from imprisoning your friends in their Pocket Dimension where it would be incredibly difficult to free them.
Most likely not. We see similar mechanics used in Gen2 for the missions that teleport you to an instance, and that map runs... well enough to function.
You'll most likely have to delete your previous Pocket Dimension and sacrifice a higher tier Dino to HLNA in order for this to work. Otherwise I don't see how they'll save the data between saddles without risk of losing items/dinos in the progress. That's it for now, lemme know what y'all think of it. I'm probably forgetting somethings, so don't rag or cherry pick small things that might be wrong. Lemme know what you think about the concept as a whole. [link] [comments]
Looking for people to play with in ark Posted: 03 Jul 2021 08:12 PM PDT Idk if I'm allowed to post something like this or its against the rules but I think its not against the rules but basically its just what the title says. I've been ark playing for a little bit now about 7 months I think. I stopped playing for a little bit but ever since I've been playing I've been playing by myself. None of my friends really have the game and if they do they don't really play it so I've decided to come here and see if anybody would be down to play. I'm down to play PvP or PvE or anything in the game really like a non dedicated session to. I know a decent amount of the stuff in the game but not everything so if anybody else wants to play ark id be down to play. Oh btw I do have discord and also I play on pc. [link] [comments]
The Raven Parrot, a parachute with a bite! (Creature Idea) Posted: 03 Jul 2021 09:33 PM PDT I hope this is alright to share here, it's a little hard to be seen with how voting is set up on the ark forum so thought I might give people a chance to see my creation. Personally, I am a bird lover. I own my own conure and really just would love to see parrots in ark. I also thought of a way to make what it does serve a purpose we don't really have. A lot of entries either seem to be too over powered to add in(making things too easy) or are just another fancy skin to what already exists. I know the archeopteryx exists but lets be honest, who ACTUALLY uses it? You drop slowly, cant control what you are doing and can't use your arms at all while holding it. So I thought of a better way! So presenting the Raven Parrot! Or Broad-Billed Parrot but I thought the Raven Parrot name sounded nicer. I ever threw together a dossier to make it look fancy! So here is a description of my idea for it, with more information in my post. The Raven parrot is meant to serve similar to a parachute, but with a bit more to it! When on the ground you can set it for 'parachute' mode. When this is activated it will initially seem similar to an archeopteryx, but better! It will flap to slow your decent, but your arms are free to use tools or weapons. You can control your direction with wasd, though it will have a turning radius and won't be instant. You can also fall faster by holding x which will cause it to stop flapping and you will fall at a normal speed. Be sure to let go of x before you get too close to the ground or you will take fall damage as normal! When in attack mode if an enemy flyer grabs you it will bite at the feet of the creature, inflicting bleed on it and will keep biting until it lets go. When parachute mode is disabled it will still sit on your shoulder, but it will be more alert with quicker idle animations. It will let out a panic call if a hostile creature is targeting you to give you some warning of the danger. This will not give any indicator of where it is coming from, so you need to pay attention to the vocal cue to catch the warning. This does not work with players, just hostile creatures. There is another fun feature, as this bird absolutely LOVE seeds, if you let it wander it will harvest seeds from nearby bushes. But keeping that beak in tip top shape also takes some work, so if it wanders near a tree it will 'chew on'(harvest) the tree and get back some thatch. It's not going to be incredible quantities of thatch, but is a nice little bonus! It will gather all types of seeds. This includes x and y seeds. Taming this little guy will take paying attention, but isn't terribly difficult. It will spawn in warm, forest areas. It is drawn to pre-built structures, and will wander around them. If you walk or run near too close, it will flap its wings and run away, eventually wandering back when it's no longer spooked. In order to tame it you will need to have some type of seed in your inventory, and will need to lay on your belly and scoot near it. As you get closer it will stop and stare at you in attention with it's crest up. This is when you need to stop moving and throw one seed down. After it starts walking towards the seed you will need to scoot backward to give it space. Once it eats the seed the taming will begin. You will need to keep scooting towards it until it's alert, throw a seed and back away until it's fully tamed. The preference for seeds is as follows from best to worst. Plant Species Z/R Plant Species X Plant Species Y Any Vegetable seed Any Berry Seed Once fully tamed it will eat seeds of any kind, as well any type of vegetable and berries. They do not fly but instead when fleeing or running they will run and flap their wings to gain momentum to quickly escape. In the wild if hit it will initially flee, then come back around and bite you. The bite does a basic level of bleed and on anything categorized as small will give it the 'crippled'(bone) effect for 15 seconds. The bleed will act similar to how it does on a sabertooth salmon. When attacking it uses its wings to leap into the air and rush its enemy. I am also open to suggestions on ways to improve it! I wanted it to be useful, but not too op when used like having a free glider suit. If you like it, I hope you will consider voting to add this lovely parrot into ark! https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/624887-raven-parrot-the-parachute-with-a-bite [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jul 2021 08:48 PM PDT It's supper fun that's fighters now have Zs, Ys, nets, weight grapples, shadow manes, ferrox, and stalker! But sometimes people are still able to ride their dinos....I was thinking we add the m.d.n.s. Instead of the sword the mek has a net launcher that has a clip size of 10 that can net Gigas as well! If it sounds op, it's not because other meks can net your mek. [link] [comments]
Do Wind Turbines Work On Genesis 2? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 04:18 PM PDT Do they work on Genesis 2, because during the jump (when you switch space biomes) it turns off. So does it just switch off during that time or is it a bug? [link] [comments]
which mod causes more lag? CKF or eco stable? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 04:28 PM PDT Just like the title question. I want to have buildings that would look good in wild west but ckf always seemed so laggy, so I was thinking maybe eco stables instead.. but then I hear a lot of people saying it's super laggy. Can anyone give like numbers on which one uses the most resources? I don't know if that's even possible. Or just experience using them on servers? [link] [comments]
Homing Mine Nullification Script Hax? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 03:51 PM PDT Asking if anyone who plays on PC official servers knows of any operational hax "certain" tribes might be using to nullify Active, placed homing mines. I'm 99.99% positive the tribe in question was using ESP just because of how easily they found our very well hidden assets located across the server, but the most interesting part was how quickly they assembled "dick boats" Like they were command spawning structures at the beach and when chided into a heavily mined defensive area of homing Mines they clearly saw the mines, paused for what seemed just long enough to type a command into the "TAB" command console, then literally did donuts on top of our heavily mined defensive area like the mines weren't even there. At this point I'm kinda glad the game is dying because it just not playable any more. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jul 2021 01:08 PM PDT If I decrease dino torpidity will the creatures that have torpor damage knock everything out in the wild? That's what I'm scared of I dont want torpor inducing creatures to wreck a bunch of possibly high level dinos [link] [comments] |
