Is there really no tutorial or guide built into Ark?? Posted: 26 Oct 2021 08:45 AM PDT I just started playing and I feel more lost than any other game I've played. I started a single player game (on PC) after fumbling through the menus and purposely chose default settings to not screw anything up. But then I get loaded into the game and there's no info to guide me. There's nothing that even tells me the controls! I had to open the game settings to look at the key bindings! Please tell me I'm missing something and there really is a guide somewhere in here? Relevant info: I'm on PC with vanilla Ark: Survival Evolved. The game I started is on the Island in easy zone 1. Nothing was changed from the startup screens. Edit: A lot of great info, thanks guys! And to be clear, I'm more annoyed that the controls and basic mechanics of the game are not described. For instance, it took me an hour before I knew I could harvest things from bushes. And I knew there was a crafting menu because I read the leaflets worth of a guide from the main menu; I just didn't know how to open it. Or how to fill the flask of water. If I was there in person, I would know how to fill a flask. But the game makes me fumble with it until I figure it out. That goes beyond "figuring out how to survive is part of the game."
