Just fought the GAMMA Dragon for the first time ever on my SP... Posted: 06 Feb 2019 02:47 AM PST Holy Fireballs, Batman! This guy packs a punch! I went in with 18 Rexes with 50k-60k HP, 1k Melee and Ascendant saddles ranging from 99.7-138.5 armor. Half of my Rexes were at 6k-10k HP by the time I won. I'm not looking forward to the Beta or Alpha. (I know I could skip but Im killing each boss at each difficulty twice -- once for decorative trophy and once for trophy for ascension -- which I'm doing once each for achievements.) Any tips for Beta/Alpha? Is leveling each Rex to 80k HP worth the time sink? [link] [comments] | ||

Base Defense / Turret Settings Questions Posted: 06 Feb 2019 11:39 AM PST Recently got on an Extinction server and have been able to farm the element needed to build a lot of tek turrets and fill them with ammo. I plan on defending the base with around 70-80 tek turrets, 10-20 heavy turrets (mostly for rockets and fliers), and a handful of plant x for the slow/vision debuff. We are in a spot that is difficult if not impossible to mesh from beneath. The base is 14 walls tall with giant hatchframes on the edges. I plan on placing some of my turrets at this height as I understand it should shoot over the top of a trike and maybe stego. I also will place some on the ground and a handful of heavies at low/medium range to attempt to stop beer runners. I feel like most players will attempt to either soak with platform saddle paracers with a box. Or they will come up from the side with the Quetzal hatchframe strategy. My understanding is that the projectiles from tek turrets will destroy metal. However, I am curious as to how the targeting works... A) If a player is enclosed in a boxed paracer:
B) If they use a Quetzal with the hatchframe "trick" or strategy (Basically covers the quetzal entirely from above)

[Suggestion] Championship Servers? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 11:44 PM PST Got the idea for Championship servers when thinking of how quick a tribe could complete all ascensions (including alpha Manticore as Ascension for SE since it doesnt have one). Basically you have 2 Island servers, 2 SE servers, 2 Aberration servers, 1 Extinction server per region. PVP 6 man tribes, 3x XP/tame 2x Breed. The goal is to be the first tribe in your region to defeat the Alpha King Titan. Start on Island, once you defeat the Alpha Overseer your character is taken to Scorched Earth, you don't get to take items or creatures, but keep character level and engrams. Then rinse and repeat for each map. The reason that there is only 1 Extinction map per region is so that there is extra PVP to be the first tribe to make it. No transfers at all, even between the regions servers, ie NA island 1 cant transfer to island 2. First tribe to kill Alpha King per region gets a prize. To make teaming less beneficial there is no 2nd/3rd place prizes, it won't eliminate it completely, but shouldn't be hard to monitor so few servers. Just an idea i thought would be cool to tie the game over while people are waiting for more content. If there is an Ascension to added to SE then would fit better once that is implemented. Posted: 06 Feb 2019 07:26 AM PST Many of us I'm sure are loving the new "Enable Mating" option. Pens are coming down in favor of less resource intensive areas. Previously when using the wondering option on, even without the chunk loaded (Private server admin so I can assure this), female would continue producing and laying eggs. Now when using the mating option, female breed timers seem to go into stasis along with everything else. [link] [comments] | ||

I'm not good at codes, even if they're logical. I couldnt find codes for only these two dinos, so i had to exctract them from a code including all abberration dinos... Do servers become more difficult as it gets older? Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:19 AM PST TL;DR at the bottom Hey all. I am currently on an official pvp server on console. Now I haven't played the server since its birth, but let me tell you something, shits retarded. O just got back into this game and back when I played Alphas were very rare. My buddy and I have a little base in S1 on the island. I shit you not, it is an alpha gangbang everywhere we go. Just a little insight on our adventure... We were attempting to cure our swamp fever by getting the ingredients for the cure. Now the swamp is the farthest from a lakeside resort. But when we turned the corner, it looked like a tub of live eels with the number of alphas in the area. There had to be at least 6 Alphas in sight at one time. 2 Carnos and the rest Raptors. We would have had a better chance of survival fist fighting a rex. Now that's the kicker. On the way back to base after our failed attempt, we cannot believe what we see. Deep in the water there is an Alpha Rex SQUARING UP with a squadron of Megalodons. Of course, we get our shit pushed in yet again and we decided to get off. My question is this, does the official server difficulty rise as the server ages, or is this just us being noobs? TL;DR Two noobs get their shit rocked by an alpha cluster fuck and an aquatic alpha rex. Want to know of the server difficulty is out of control. P.S. Treasure Stashes: How to make Ark official PVP enjoyable for everyone, and win back old players Posted: 06 Feb 2019 03:00 AM PST While the thrill of PVP is unique and exciting, the one thing everyone hates in this game is losing everything and starting all over from being raided. It's not fun, in fact it's the opposite of fun. It's one of the only games where you retain absolutely nothing when you get raided. Winning/losing is a part of every game, but there are ways to reduce the negative impact of being raided without removing the thrill of PVP and the success of winning. I am suggesting a mechanic which allows the victim of a raid to retain a percentage of their progress. Ultimately I think a mechanic that lets a tribe retain SOMETHING from being raided could be the best thing for the game. Ideas I've had are: 1) Obelisk Stash: Each tribe (or each tribe member, whatever is best for balance) being able to store 1-4 tames and 10 items permanently in a "Stash" in the obelisks 2) Bubble Shield-Hut: A structure/forcefield given only to the tribe leader that gives a small area invulnerability. Nothing can be built inside this area except for a treasure chest with like a 10 item capacity. Each tribe can store whatever small tames they can fit into this area and store their 10 most valuable items in the chest. All tames in this area must have an empty inventory, and no other items can be stored here on bodies or otherwise. 3) Tribe God-Dodos: Each tribe or tribe member given an invulnerable dodo, immune to diseases as well. Store whatever you can on it. Your dodo is your god. 4) Implant-Key Stash: Same as obelisk stash except allow someone who collects 10 implants of an individual to take 1 item/tame from their stash. 5) Shoulder-pet-Gods: Same as god Dodos except 0 melee damage. You have your companion pet forever. With these options, raiders still get the majority of the victims valuables so raiding is still fun. But it will lessen the raiding of tribes weaker than the raider. Stronger tribes will accumulate too many good items/tames to keep in the Stashes, so they will be worth raiding. Weaker tribes don't have as much so will be able to store a greater percentage of their progress in the Stashes. And the rest of what they own will only be valuable to tribes closer to their strength. Tribes with inadequate defense for their size will lose more. Solo players/small tribes have an option to play as nomads with 1-4 choice tame-companions that you can bring out when you need them. Cool downs on accessing the Stashes could also be implemented. There are likely some other tweaks that will be necessary for these mechanics to be successful and prevent abuse, but ultimately I think a server with something like this would have incredible longevity. Posted: 05 Feb 2019 10:45 PM PST I have 8 mods on my server they are all being detected by Ark. When I press escape the menu says mod "ultra stacks" (this and auto engram and tomestone are not working) and when I load in it says mods /8. But, when I load in, the engrams are not unlocked and the stacks only go up to 100 instead of 10k. I have tried to switch the order of the mods in the code but no use. The harvest rates work just fine along with the other mods (better reusables, S+, classic flyers, and classic gliders) And I need help, Thanks. [link] [comments] | ||
Posted: 05 Feb 2019 10:19 PM PST Maybe a dumb question here but I can't seem to find it anywhere... I've mostly played solo, but have a couple friends that just got Ark and joined my tribe. I plan on raising some wyverns, theris, spinos, and a bunch of rexes soon but my friends don't play that much so probably won't really be doing much, if any, of raising the babies. However, I'd like to let them imprint some things. If they do the original imprint on the baby when it hatches, will I then be able to do all the actions requested for them or will it require that specific player? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 03:22 PM PST SO, I am working on modding ARK, my main goal is to make PVP in the game better, more balanced, etc. And I would like to hear everyones ideas on what they would like! Note I am not looking for suggestions of nerf manas or buff X. Instead something more along the lines of "PVP needs to take place more off bases" or "there is no reason to fight over resources". I know its not super clear but I am looking for solution requirements as opposed to solution designs (for you engineers who play). What are your high level ideas? For example almost like I am asking you to give me a thesis, oh scary word I know, not an example. We can get into items and stats etc but I feel starting there is what got ARK into its current state anyway. I know its next to impossible to balance a game like ARK, but I can at least make it more diverse and engaging. Think like how in RUST killing a geared person could result in a faster start thanks to getting the ability to research an item for the blueprint. [link] [comments] | ||
