Posted: 05 Mar 2019 08:16 AM PST The update showed that the Titanoboa's new egg class is "Superior" (large egg rather than special), the same as Argent/Allo/ect, and added fertilized Wyvern and Rock Drake eggs to the Special egg pool. However, since the only "Special" eggs are now Wyverns, Rock Drakes, and Golden Hesperonis eggs, transferring in items or creatures is required in order to obtain extraordinary kibble on that map. Wyverns and Rock Drakes don't spawn in their non-corrupt forms so they're out - and Hesperonis do spawn...in caves, where they are untameable, like the Mantids and Onycs. You can "Feed" them a fish but will gain no taming progress. Tested in both the ice and desert caves, in multiple spawn locations. You may think you could still try and get golden eggs from the untameable cave hesperonis, however they don't really seem to react to the presence of fish and don't wander around (being cave creatures), meaning getting eggs may not be possible. I've yet to hear of anyone finding Hesperonis outside caves, so i'm guessing this may be an oversight not accounted for when removing boas from the pool. [link] [comments]

S+ structures and kibble rework tomorrow! Posted: 04 Mar 2019 07:15 PM PST Video description: "Homestead is a free update to ARK that vastly improves pre-existing structures and their placement options, as well as offering a myriad of additional pieces to utilize in any way your imagination can conjur. Triangle floors, half walls, angled pieces and much more provides survivors a whole other level in creative potential. Every building made from beginning to end can now look as unique as its builder. Homestead also delivers a complete rework of the existing Kibble system (the most efficient way to tame creatures) to be even more user and server friendly. Available March 5th on Steam, Xbox, and PS4!" [link] [comments]

New update broke snap points for the s+ mod. Posted: 05 Mar 2019 11:11 AM PST Being reported all over steam discussions and the s+ mod page, nothing snaps from the mod since the Homestead update. Unsure how to resolve as of yet, anyone have any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Mar 2019 07:30 AM PST I love these little guys, and while they're outclassed in speed by a lot of dinos, the ability to alt-tab and glide along to your destination is something I always enjoy. But damned if you have to hold on... You're completely helpless while in the air... unless you glitch it. Currently if you pick up the archaeo and immediately equip an item (usually off your hotbar) you can have that item equipped while holding the bird. This is actually quite strong if you try it out. With a ranged weapon you can wail on anything below you. With a spyglass you can spot dinos. So many uses! Now unfortunately this is a glitch and while I don't expect it to be patched, it should be. But what if we could have an item to replicate this? The Archaeo Harness would be made from roughly the same materials it takes to make a parasaur saddle but instead of wood, why not have a handful of metal as a requirement. It would a skin item, similar to the Glider Suit Skin. And similarly, you can equip it to whatever chest piece you would like. When you are not carrying a bird, the item will look like a leather harness. The straps which will attach to the bird later can be seen limp across your characters back While holding a bird, those straps will be fastened around the Archaeo's feet (like how the characters hold on with their hands). While stationary and on the ground, the bird will actually be perched on your shoulders, with wings tucked to the body. You will have full use of your character just like if you had an otter or compy on you With an item equipped, you can throw the archaeo just like any other back animal by double tapping the F key (or whatever you've bound it to). Having an item equipped while in the air will disable the Archaeo's natural "R" ability to stop gliding. If you want to go down, you'll have to unequip your current item. This is just to stop conflicts with R being reload. Now look, I get that this isn't going to be exciting for those of you debating between railguns and rifles but as an early game item, this would be great. Honestly it might be too strong, what with the fact that if you have a way to get any height, you can take on any dino easily. Granted that this does require you to find the archaeo and tame it in the first place but I can't say more without testing. What do you guys think? [link] [comments]

Help me understand the kibble rework I'm so lost. Posted: 05 Mar 2019 11:01 AM PST Haven't played in months. But I was thinking of trying it out again if the kibble rework was good but it's got me scratching my head. Used to you would tame a lower tier Dino to use the eggs to get a higher tier Dino. Like dodo eggs could get you a Ptera. Now it's sounding like you can only tame the same tier of Dino with said egg? What? Why? So to get a high tier Dino we are going to have to meat or berry tame the first few egg layers first? Ain't nobody got time for that. If I'm wrong please correct me and explain it to me like I'm 5 like I said I haven't played in months lol. [link] [comments]

I kinda like the old kibble system Posted: 05 Mar 2019 10:16 AM PST I kind of like the old kibble system, cause it always gives you something to do and tame creatures you otherwise wouldn't tame. With this new kibble system especially for single player you will be out of pve content, very very fast. I wish you could choose which kibble system you wanted to use. [link] [comments]

WC your entire PVP balance is fucked right now Posted: 04 Mar 2019 03:39 PM PST And frankly unless you actually start fixing it this game is going to die for real, or at least officials unfortunately will (unless that's the intention behind your balancing since Extinction). **WoT and Trigger Warning** But before some uneducated and retarded beach bobs cry whinepost w/o any arguments I'm going to lay out exactly these arguments: The (Online)PVP in this game is basically made up out of two different components:
Both are completely unfun and fucked up right now and here's why: Starting with Objective oriented PVP and non-cave bases: If we're talking actual raids on surface bases(For example Desert plat on rag etc) right now every single one comes down to basically two things: Titans and numbers. And while the latter obviously makes sense the other one does not really. Having both the Titans and numbers you can steamroll literally any megabase right now. Titans have become the dominating factor in actual raids. If your people cannot bring them in you're fucked even if you have numbers and stuff, on the other hand even if you're lacking stuff like dinos or materials you can still progress and pressure just by having the Titan advantage. Considering how easy they can be obtained there is simply no way they should be as oppressive as they are right now. Losing your fob or base just because the other people rolled better in simming their people with titans in upload in is bad game design and completely awkward. That being said the concept of Titans as major factors is not bad, however the current implementation of that concept is horrible. Now let's look at the dominating form of base right now: Caves. With the introduction of heavies and the buffs to Tek, many Caves have become virtually impossible to raid(legit at least). No tracking time on Heavies + the fact that the DPS-Density of them (DPS/Space they take up) is absurd and you even buffed Tek to have about the same DPS makes getting into Cave borderline impossible while Defenders are offline and literally impossible while Defenders are online. You might ask why is that so: Before heavies and tek turret buffs were a thing you could effectively rocket run caves even on well running servers given a couple people and the necessary time to do so. The reason for that is that normal turrets had tracking time, giving you some headstart on the sprint before taking damage while also you simply couldn't cram as much dps into the defense choke thanks to natural limitations in terms of space. Heavies and Tek buffs have effectively more than quadrupled the DPS on the runners. The Turret cap doesn't matter in this scenario as you will barely ever need nor be able to put 100 turrets to defend a choke against flak geared runners. Cryos are not the solution at least for caves with choke since you won't be able to drain, nor sightblock enough, nor dick into the defenses with the proper setup and turret settings. Right now to get into a properly built cave you need a massive downtime of the defenders and even then there's a good chance you just won't be able to. So in short: Wildcard, you have created virtually impossible to raid bases. Why this is not healthy for a game where a large part of the PVP consists of raiding bases should be apparent to anyone with average IQ. Biggest offenders in this regard right now: Grotto on Aberration. Ice Cave/Carno cave on Island. Ice Cave on Center. Most SE caves. So to summarize the current state of Objective oriented PVP: It's either a Titan shitshow or Caves which are borderline impossible to raid. (Btw I'm not referring to Island or Rag watercaves right now.) I can guarantee you that none of the two is fun for anybody right now. Anyways let's talk Open PVP now: Often being a part of objective oriented pvp, for example fighting around contested claim, but also isolated Open PVP right now is literally the managarm show. Basically every single PVP encounter can be boiled down to one question: Do you have more/better(saddled) managarms than they? Yes - you win. No - you lose. You can nerf this dino all you want. The problem lies is its very concept. You created something which will literally outrun, outmaneuver and outduel every single other dino and player in this game on its own making every other non-Soaker obsolete in its presence. Rex/Zino/Giga/Rhino/Pt/ANYFUCKINGTHING coming at you? Freeze dino => Freeze player => Free kit, Free dino kill. Even if you nerf it more, it won't change nor fix the broken concept of this dino. It needs a rework on a fundamental level or straight being removed from the game. Every dino has multiple ways to counter it and distinct strengths and weaknesses. The managarm can only be countered by other managarm and if I say countered, then I mean not really, it's like beating each other with pool noodles and unless one guy fucks up and gets frozen/killed off mana nothings gonna happen since not even Managarms can reliably lock down managarms. If you don't realize how absolutely awful this is in terms of balance then you should take a look at successful and competitive multiplayer games and how they do balance. Hint: you won't find any completely OP shit which can be realistically obtained and if something unintenionally turns out to be OP watch it getting nerfed asap. Meanwhile in Ark it's basically been managarm shitfesting for the past three to four months now and everybody hates it. Even shitstat Managarms are able to melt people through their flak(even topstat flak) and kill them without a chance for retaliation or counterplay. Y/Z plants don't work unless the Managarm rider is bad and lets himself get baited and the same goes for weight grappling. So yeah this is basically it: OoPVP is either Titan or Cancercaves. OPvP is managarm shitfesting. The vast majority of your Dinos (in a dino game), individual skill, gear, basically everything has become irrelevant due to to very few overly OP/Dominant factors. The result is dropping numbers. Being an active player and admin within one of the last few actually alive and working megatribe I've been seing the decline in motivation and actual numbers across the board regardless of alliance, tribe/whatever and whenever you ask people why they're not joinsimming or wanting to do PVP the answer usually is somewhere along the lines of "Mangarm/Titanraids are cancer". So anyways thanks for reading. I don't really care if you up or downvote or think I'm retarded but I had to get this out of my system at least. I used to be one of the most active PVPers in this game. Now I feel the need to puke blood even when only thinking about going out to PVP cause itll just be unfun manatitanshitfesting anyways [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Mar 2019 05:42 AM PST Alright so y'all I went back to a modded cluster ark server again today, I wanted to travel to the island, I clicked on the bed to spawn, Then it just goes white screen and sends me back to home screen, it says: "Outgoing reliable buffer overflow" Any fixes? Posted: 05 Mar 2019 11:21 AM PST I don't like how the dash activates whenever you're holding W to walk and you happen to get off the ground for a split second and suddenly you dash. This got changed this patch and it's kinda annoying having the Mana auto dash when I'm just trying to move forward. Please revert it so you have to tap W while in the air for the dash to take place, better control. [link] [comments]
enough people still play? xbox Posted: 05 Mar 2019 07:30 AM PST I've haven't played ARK yet but im downloading since its on game pass; is there enough players in servers? is it worth spending time playing? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Mar 2019 11:02 AM PST Anyone know what unlocks what now with the new tek engrams? If at least the dedicated storage isn't unlocked with the monkey or spider I'm gonna be super annoyed since I just did alpha Ragnarok and gathering the blubber takes forever on that map. Intending to buy ark survival evolved! Posted: 05 Mar 2019 01:54 AM PST Hi guys! Planning to buy the game since it's on offer. What should I buy? The basic game? Which expansions are worth my money and which are just a waste of time? Anything glaring to take note for a newbie like me? Thanks! [link] [comments]
How to get propellant on maps besides rag/se? Posted: 05 Mar 2019 09:24 AM PST For the S+ item collector, last time checked you need propellant. I don't have ragnarok or scorched earth ever permanently on my cluster, but I want an item collector for eggs and stuff. How do I fuel it though? [link] [comments]
How to make a golden egg farm? Posted: 05 Mar 2019 09:09 AM PST If I tamed hespers and brought them to extinction, where would the best place to make a golden egg farm be? (Unless vivariums make golden eggs too). How do you make the pen? Just pillars and turrets? [link] [comments] |
