What was the recent drag weight change for?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:34 AM PST

Patch 303.1 changed the following creatures to prevent carry from Quetz and Crab.

    • Modified Drag weight of creatures to prevent carry by Quetz and Crab:
      • Galli
      • Kapro
      • Megalosaurus
      • Procoptodon

In particular why the Megalo? Because despite being around the same size Stegos and Roll Rats can still be carried

Can Anky's get auto-harvest in the next QoL update please?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 08:34 PM PST

It'd be an incredible QoL update for solo and small tribes if they functioned like every other resource gathering creature.

My spino cannot go bipedal mode

I just tamed it on unofficial server. Right click makes it roars but no sound. It will stand up when i make it attack but wont do claws attack. It does biting attack while standing instead.

    I'm at a loss

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 10:15 PM PST

I'm 2.7k hours into ARK and I've currently been playing on an ORP PVP server.

I do not get along with my tribemates. They don't really feel like tribemates. Everyone just wants to do their own thing, with no communication between one another, and if you need help doing something, lol good luck. Your 17 day giga raise will turn into a 2 month ordeal if you're a normal human being that sleeps and goes to work, like I do.

But... Even if it is ORP, going solo is a huge gamble. You still get griefers and you can't exactly keep an eye on your base if you're away from home. It's easy for things to go south fast if you get attacked. And grinding is a nightmare if you're solo.

But also, I hear you say, just get better tribemates? Well, okay. How would I keep them from insiding me?

I want the PVP experience and the experience of being in an efficient tribe that cares about what they spend their time doing. Not a tribe of 5 who all goes and does their own thing because eff what the tribe wants or needs or defense, they wanna go do things their way or the highway!! Now, I don't want people to never do anything they wanna do, I know nobody enjoys having orders barked at them. But i just feel like priorities are a thing, right? We should totally care about securing our main base on one map before we try to create a settlement on a second, right?? Half our turrets on our main base in Ragnarok is bulletless, and these people are throwing away reapers, drakes, and everything else trying to protect a stone Aberration base against the alpha from Valguero who has decided they hate us for no reason in particular. What sense??

And then, on top of all this, my computer decided to take a shit over Thanksgiving so now I can't even log in and I'm having to fight these jerks to keep my stuff from all despawning/starving. And they act like I'm asking them to move a damn mountain to help at all.

I don't know what the point of this post was. I am just venting, lol. I feel like I am surrounded by idiots.

How does anyone get anything the f* done in Aberration?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:11 AM PST

I cannot get established without endless assault by bitey dogs, crocodiles, raptors, and one overpowered snake. I will go for a month or two with no real bad spawns then suddenly every dam evil from the pit of hell spawns in at once. This place is hell.

A Numbers Game: Breeding and Tamed Dino Stats

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:49 AM PST

TL;DR - When it comes to taming 150/180's what kind of stat distribution do you look for?

Summary: On 'The Center' I have found 4 Argents with 45ish HP, WT, STA, and DMG. On 'Valguero' I have found 1 Bronto and 1 Pteradon with a stat with 50+ points in it. Does this seem normalish?

I recently really started working on dino breeding and I wanted to run some numbers by you guys to see if my experience is matching your guy's. I've spent the last month reading through posts on different sites trying to build a baseline for expectations while I did my own experiments. I am going to skip anything dealing with mutations.

So lets talk stat distribution of an average kibble tamed 150(220+) dino.

Common: All stats are in the low to mid 30s. The vast majority (80%+) of 150's I have tamed have all of their stats between 30-37)

Uncommon: A medium size pool of tamed 150's will have a stat in the high 20's. (28/29).

Uncommon: A medium size pool of tamed 150's will have a stat in the high 30's (38/39).

Rare: 20-25% of tamed 150's will have a stat that is 40 or higher.

Very Rare: 5%ish will have a stat above 45

Ultra-Rare: Less than 1% of tamed 150's will have any stat above 50.

Most of my taming has been on 'Valgureo' excluding a few Rex's and Argents from 'The Center'. The Argents are the most interesting because I was able to easily get four Argents with a stat that was 50+.

Over the last month I have tamed a lot of dinos looking for breedable parents with 40+ points in HP, STA, WT, and Damage. So far I have found all 4 for the following dinos:

    Dodo's (Lvl 278) & Tek-Parasaurs (Lvl 320)

    Trikes (Lvl 305) & Argents (Lvl 272)

    Anklyos (Lvl 265) & Doeds (Lvl 274)

    Mammoths (Lvl 281) & Paracers (Lvl 270)

*Note: I have one Tek Rex with 54 points into damage but I have not found a viable mate with 50+ points in Health yet.

When looking at setting a breeding program for the bosses getting parents that have a 45ish points into HP/DMG (un-mutated) seems like the highest reasonable to find for non-tek tames. 55ish points into HP/DMG seems like a reasonably high expectation for a Tek-Rex. I have not any stat 60+ on a max tamed Tek-Parasaur (59 STA is the highest).

In Rex terms this translates into a wild tame with around 12Kis Health and 450ish DMG. As far as establishing a launching point into breeding program does this sound about right to you guys? Are the numbers I am experiencing similar to what you have seen?

    Thank you!

Island Alpha Dragon - Theris still the way to go?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 02:25 PM PST

Are the newer rexes(mine are 27k/960s leveled to 40k/~2250) fine for Island Dragon or are Theris still the way to go?

I've done alpha center and rag a million times, but decided I want to do all the individual bosses as well and run my own tek cave run(I've gone but haven't run my own). Only thing I've got left on Island is the dragon and wanted to check if my knowledge is outdated there or if theris are still the go-to. Thanks!

    Commands not working

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 03:37 PM PST

Hello, I have been playing Ark for a few months now on Windows 10 edition. I play with my friend so I have a dedicated server running on my Xbox One when we play. Everything seems like it works great except for commands and another thing. We were on for the Fear Evolved 3 event so we had a few Dodorexes spawn but after the event was over they didn't go away. I decided to run the "DestroyWildDinos" command to get rid of everything because we also upped the difficulty. However, it didn't work. I ran this on my Windows 10 account after giving me admin and enabling cheats. I also tried the command to just destroy the Dodorexes and that didn't work either. I eventually had to go and manually destroytarget or whatever the command is. If anyone knows how to fix this or something please tell me. Thank you!

is it normal that ARK updates just uninstall ARK completely?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:41 PM PST

Just as I received ARK version 303.1, played a while Singleplayer as usual, when I got back on today ARK was uninstalled on Steam. Found that strange, but installed it back hoping my files still be local and even if the devs managed to corrupt that there's still Steamcloud sync. I should be covered.

All map, dinos, player, everything was gone. It prompted to make a new character and all the sudden I was at the beach level 1 again. I was going to shrug it off and just be smart and Disable the Steam auto updates for this game which is the logical thing to do and move on. But no, the devs managed to have that option taken away. I can't stop this game from trying to update and autofry itself. Why did the game uninstall itself? (and if you say or think because I play Singleplayer, then the answer is to avoid people like you)
