    Does anyone have any impressionable noob memories?

    I remember when me and my friends first started playing the game. We just wanted to lvl and ride everything. We started on the SW of the island. we didn't look anything up. we had no idea what the goal of the game was. There was the occassional spitter here and there. Saw a raptor once. We knew not to make the trikes mad. etc. We had a little thatch hut that we would sleep in. We didn't know anything about building or stone or metal even.

    All was well with us. we had just gotten to the point where we could build a pt saddle.

    And we were about to be kings. We had ventured out almost none.

    Then one day one of our buddies went North west and found a little clearing and started learning how to build with wood. So when he was finished, i packed up my heard and we headed that way. When we got there...we saw it. Towering above us. A monstrosity that looked chickenward scissor hands.

    And it destroyed us from top to bottom. Killed our tames. Ripped apart our house. And sent us back to 0.

    Well almost we still had our original hut right?

    One day, when we logged back on, we met another dino that would change our fate. A baryonyx had appeared (or a giant raptor as we called it). I remember, we got bolas ready and each of us had bows with narcotic arrows. one person was supposed to keep him bola'd and the rest tranq him.

    We set it all up, we bola'd him we shot him with 20 or so arrows. And he broke free.

    He followed us to our based where he proceeded to destroy every building, every storage box. every survivor logged in or sleeping. he wiped us back to nothing. We had no weapons that could take him down. no bolas nothing. He killed us and everything we worked for.

    If we'd only known to build a trap out of stone. or to drop everything and lure the baryonyx away.the real small things can add up.

    Later that day i took our raft (our only remaining structure) to head towards herbivore island at the suggestion of my friend. He had not played since before they added the leedsychthis. so he and I learned about that little issue together at the same time. im just floating along and a giant whale knocks my boat up out of the water. and there's nothing i could do. I got stranded on the main island across from the H.I.Running from rex's and raptors i finally managed to put together another raft and made it to the safe haven.

    Nothing can beat the feeling of first discoveries in ark. What a rush.

    Does removing Naj's Speedy Flyers removed the tamed flyers?

    I'm thinking about removing out flyer mod from the servers but I'm concerned that it will remove the already tamed flyers.

    Does anyone know if this is the case?

    Megalodon TLC kinda sucks

    So I was pretty excited for the Megalodon TLC since they were kind of a meme before, but now that it's here I've really grown to hate it. They do good damage, my issue is that wild Megalodons ARE EVERYWHERE on The Island, and they seem to aggro you regardless of what dino you're riding from pretty long distances. They bite you once, you kill them, swim a bit more, fight another three, get bitten again. Over time that bleed damage adds up, and I'm kinda not seeing how any tame other than Basilosaurus could keep up with the constant attrition since it's max % hp and they spawn like Coelacanth. Like jellies you can ignore and swim past them, but eventually they're gonna blindside you, slow you, and force you to fight them—and probably their whole goon squad that's converging on you.

    Went from the coast by herbi up to the edge of the north on the left side—roughly 25% of the map—and I had two stacks of Megalodon teeth by the end from defending my tames. I had three mate boosted Megalodons with 4k hp and 44 armor saddles following me and while my Basilosaurus was fine cause of his regen my Megas were dying despite murdering all the other Megalodons that got near them in seconds cause of getting gnashed and having no regen. I found myself having to whistle passive on them and just kill the Megalodons on my Basilosaurus to avoid them getting worn down. It isn't bad when you're alone, but if you try to bring stuff on follow it feels like another jellyfish-like mechanic that I have to remain hyper vigilant of, and that's in addition to having to watch for Tuso grabs, actual jellyfish, and eels.

    Anyone else hurting from the Megalodon TLC? With yet another crippling mechanic added to the ocean Basilosaurus grows in power and I feel less and less like using other water tames due to how carefully I have to watch every angle to not get dicked.

    Any way to remove experience?

    Is there a way to remove experience from someone? Either through a console command, through the player data without corrupting anything, or any other method that specifically removes experience without restarting a character? I'm aware that most people will just say to start a new character and console level them up, however that's not what I'm wanting to do for this situation. Any ideas?

    How to level a ferox

    Do you level a ferox when they are small or when they are large? Do the stats correlate and stack from small form to big form or are they totally separate stat pools?

    Wyverns on ragnarok don't have mating for some reason

    I'm on the current patch with TLC 3 (stegos have plate modes and I have the taming tracker), but the wyverns I hatched on ragnarok are unable to breed with each other. I made sure to keep the types together (lightning with lightning) and the genders were correct. Does anyone know whats wrong or how to fix the issue?

    Update: Looks like Classic Flyers makes it so you can't breed the normal wyverns

    Only one mindset

    Seems 99% of Ark fanbase has same mindset. On Xbox looking for a new server. I prefer PvE servers with close to vanilla rates. That way I'm not getting hours of work destroyed in three seconds by people who have nothing better to do. Also whats the fun in anything if everything is just handed to you? But that is all anyone wants to play. PVP servers with crazy high rates. "You picked a bush. You collected x1000 of every resource and you are now max level. You win!" Problem is thats all I see "Need more for PvP to raid. x25 rates" I get it PvP can be fun at times and sometimes you wanna just jump right into action. But that is all I ever see.

    [Not an ad] A VPN might solve your connection timeout errors

    I recently started playing Ark again just before my 6000 hours total played anniversary.

    However, I had an issue where I could connect to any server but the officials servers. While talking to an old tribe mate I found out that she had the same problem after the Crystal Isle update. So I paid for 1 month of Express VPN. I was able to log in with no problems so far.

    Getting started is downloading the program, making an account, pasting the code and hitting connect.

    So far all the VPNs have 2 main choices, 1 yearly payment (cheapest) or 12 monthly payments. Most of them are around $2-$3 a month if you do the yearly payment. If the claims about VPNs being useful for internet security, I honestly don't see why I didn't get one sooner.

    I recently bought a server for my friends and I to play on, I have no idea what I'm doing so I didn't know i needed to Reset the server in order for the name to change.. so I went searching for it and changed the Session Filter on the Join Ark section. Now it freezes every time I even open that screen. It also wont even let me get to the Session Filter to change it back to Unofficial PC sessions. I have no idea what to do, I've tried everything. I uninstalled it, and I'm reinstalling it now. I'm hoping that it will fix the problem, because this is extremely upsetting. Its gonna take a while to install it again cause the games over 100gigs..

    So I'm playing on my friends server that is pc unofficial and its a cluster. But I'm having a problem with some dinos spawning like on aberration reapers not spawning and also on scorched earth rexs aren't spawning and possibly Phoenixes too. Please help if you have any ideas.

    Any realistic maps / mods that add more depth and purpose to ark? Basically looking for an overhaul

    Looking for some maps and mods that add more purpose to ark. For me ark is getting pretty stale cause its the same stuff, grind for high level, find a bunch of high level dinos, farm, breed dinos rinse and repeat.

    I'd love to find a giant map with a bunch of things to explore and mods that add a lot more meaningful content such as boss fights, etc.

    I've checked out a few mainstream mods and it all looks the same, could anyone recommend me some nice overhaul mods? Boss mods, map suggestions, etc. are much appreciated as well.

    Cloud Saves Getting Messed Up Some How...

    I use a VPN strictly because it came with 250GBs of free cloud service for all of $5. I have been using it for about 6 months now on my single player playthrough. This way I can just seamlessly play between my laptop when I am at work or my desktop at home.

    Recently, it is messing up in that I am losing tames and resources. My levels are the same and sometimes I keep some of the engrams, but lose others. Just not sure what's going on.

    I am unable to connect to an ASM from work to home because I am on managed internet and they will not open ports for me. I have no access to the router so that I can do it on my own.

    What else can I do?

    I thought I had the solution with the cloud saves, but not any longer.

    [Steam] [PVE - Island] - Newbie looking to play with others in Map order.

    I got the basic down, I am a grinder, I like to build as well. Looking to join others in a private server not on default mode but not extremely boosted either.

    Ideal setting server I'd like to join

    XP - 2-2.5x Gathering 2-3x (I assume gathering = Harvest??) Taming 3-5x

    I never breed - don't plan to, so I dont care for those settings

    I've only done 1 cave, never done any bosses and put in maybe 100 hours 5-6 months ago.
