    Why I think ARK: Survival Evolved needs a weapon overhaul

    The weapons in the game are quirky, inconsistent, and lack any basis in reality which may not be relevant in a fantasy game with dinosaurs but indulge me here and see the proposed changes and the reasons behind them.

    Simple Pistol:

    I think that this should be changed to a non-revolver style single shot musket type weapon. For a revolver to shoot a round ball doesn't make sense.

    Revolvers are pound for pound one of the most powerful handheld weapons ever made. Take for a instance if you want a powerful option the Colt Python shoots

    the .44 magnum round. I know you're not looking to use brand names so just make it do more damage high recoil with a shorter range/slower fire rate and 5 rounds.

    Fabricated Pistol:

    This weapon is good for the most part. I would assume its a small caliber like the 9mm Walther, or Glock 17. Only issue I have with this weapon is that it has no

    bullet drop and fires 16 times in rapid fire, with only 13 bullets. This weapon is the most accurate and balance firearm in the game IMO.

    Double Barrel:

    Pump Shotgun:Both of these weapons are in good shape save for one detail. The first round almost never registers as a hit. Especially troublesome with the double

    barrel variant. Maybe offer a ghost ring for pump shotgun? The holo-scope is pointless.

    Longneck Rifle:

    This weapon is the hunter's favorite. The Longneck is a high caliber weapon that does considerable damage at all ranges with a very long reload time. I think this weapon is pretty solid.

    Overall it needs only a few changes. Firstly, I would like to commend the homage to the Martini Henry rifle which embodies the classic breach load rifle. This weapon needs

    STOPPING POWER. This power should not be unlimited though. I think this rifle should sit in the medium range category with a lower magnification scope when compared to

    the Fabricated Sniper's built in scope. The bullet for this weapon should be large and require a bit more gunpowder than the advanced sniper bullet. Most large caliber

    bullets are over .400 caliber for big game hunting. If the Fabby is base off modern rifles its probably around .300---.338 at most. I think the armor penetration idea is fine

    but is indicative of modern FMJ style rounds that a big game rifle would not fire. Maybe a small stun on hit? Like a knock-back? This weapon should do the most damage to creatures.

    Assault Rifle:

    This weapon is in a solid place as a high speed bullets spraying machine. Resembles a H&K G36 and operates like one. 5.56mm ammo should be cheaper than longneck rounds and require

    polymer for an advanced bullet tip. The clip size is superb, the fire rate is accurate too. Overall great weapon for multi-purpose. Would suggest adding an option to toggle full auto,

    3 round burst, or semi-auto mode. 5.56 ammo is perfect for this and the auto turrets.

    Fabricated Sniper Rifle:

    A great choice for an overall medium to long range rifle. A few things could use some changes. Since this is a lower damage bullet when compared to the longneck it should fire the same round as

    the assault rifle. If damage is lower this weapon should sit in the middle of the pack at level 60. Good weapon for a scout, but not powerful enough for consistent take-downs of high armor targets.

    New Compact SMG:

    UZI style weapon or Compact MP5 that shoots Advanced bullet with same damage as pistol but with higher fire rate than Assault rifle.

    Long Range Bolt action. Upgrade to longneck:

    Bolt action rifle with high damage, high armor pen, and high velocity/recoil. This weapon should fire the more expensive advanced sniper bullet that has a caliber of 7.62mm. Second highest damage overall

    but slower reload speed with a 4 round magazine. The creme de la creme of modern rifles. I think this weapon sits in a top-tier place amongst the ARK firearms.

    Different types of ammunition proposal.

    12 Gauge Shotgun ammo is standard for most shotguns-Simple shotgun ammo is fine

    Ball Style shot for single shot pistol or replace with .38 SPCL for Simple pistol. Revolvers don't shoot ball ammo

    9mm ammo for Fabricated pistol-Advanced bullet replacement

    .500 caliber for longneck, blunt projectile for maximum stopping power 20GP 5-Metal ingots

    5.56mm ammo for assault rifles, turrets, minigun, and fabricated sniper rifle 9GP 2-Metal ingots current

    7.62mm ammo for bolt action sniper 12GP 2-Metal ingots Current Advanced Sniper Cost

    9mm, 5.56mm, and 7.62mm could have 3 bullet styles-Hollow point (Damage), FMJ (Armor Pen), Polymer Tip (High Velocity/No-drop)

    Bullet drop mechanic: All weapons should have bullet drop at range

    Damage drop-off: All weapons other than Bolt action should have damage drop-off at range 20% at 20,000 Unreal units, 50% at 30,000 Unreal units

    Weapon attachment ideas:

    Modern weapons-two attachment slots (Scope, Silencer, Laser Sight, Flashlight, Collapsible Stock)

    Primitive weapons-one attachment slot (Scope, Silencer, Flashlight)

    Sniper Specific Attachments (Muzzle Break, Cheek pad, Bi-Pod)

    Double barrel shotgun should have no attachments

    Simple pistol should only take scope, and flashlight

    Can someone explain to me why Scorched Earth FPS is about 20 less frames than any other map?

    I main SE, compared to the other maps in our official cluster it runs anywhere from 10-35fps lower than all the other maps. Its the least populated and built up map as well.

    I run max everything at 3440x1440 and get 50-75fps on other maps while se runs around 40.

    Recent Official Adventures?

    Last night myself and a friend decided to take a break from grinding Apex and play some Ark, so we hopped on a random official island map.

    Started getting some basic gear together and rattled up a little base and a raft.The server wasn't too populated, the few players online were chatting away to each other.

    One tribe was arranging to meet another, apparently to form an Alliance. Turns out it had been a trick, to lure the tribe away from their raft base whilst the other tribe raided it in their absence. Trash talk then followed "Take this as a warning" etc etc.

    Anyway we stumbled across this "alpha" tribes base, was a mixture of wood and stone structures, we blew threw the wall with a C4, only one internal auto turret. Proceeded to loot the first body only to find a cryo-pod, housing a Mek... and some ascendant flak. (Looks like someone has been being buying tames with mummy's credit card).

    Anyway we proceeded to wipe the base with their own mek and the loot has helped us on our early and likely short adventure on officials. Talk about Karma :o

    What's the most interesting or strange experiences you have all had on Ark recently?

    Decent servers

    Looking for a cluster preferably. Don't want official as been meshed too many times but all the i officials seem to be too high in 'X' so much that it almost makes the game unplayable. Any suggestions ?? Thanks

    how would i go about making a mod that spawns just the karkinos on other maps?

    Hi, good afternoon to you, i have a graphics problem so if you are reading this maybe u can give me a hand.
    I was having some problems with Ark performance, so i followed a guide for improving the performance of the game ( https://steampowered.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=903819045 ) the guide is amazing to be honest, i went from 25-30 fps to 60 almost all the time, but, i have a problem:

    Everything look good, but when i get close to structures like my house, the wallks, stairs and foundations don't load properly unless i get closer to them, and it looks really bad, so my question is, wich graphic option will revert this to how it was before? i've tried the options in the menu but nothing works, so i'm thinking that is something that i changed in the guide ( GameUserSettings.ini and Engine.ini on the Ark folder )

    Hey guys,

    Im quite an experienced breeder and now I came to a situation where the maturation/imprinting timings were completly out of normal.

    I know that due to some micro lags the timer for the next imprint isnt 8h. It is very laggy then sometimes the next imprint is possible after 8,1 oder 8,2h. Sometimes even after 9h.

    Thats ok, I know why it is.

    But now I am in a situation, where the imprint timer is quite okay (only about 2h late in total with 10 mins server update in it.) but the maturation is completly wrong.

    Im raising wyverns, Im at 82% imprint, 74% maturation and 7h until next imprint.

    Lets do the math.

    Total maturation time: 92h

    74% maturation = 68h done, 23,5h left.

    Last time I imprinted was 2h ago, so 66h after start. Imprint every 8h, means 8 times imprinting with 9,XX% means 72% imprint. But Im at 81. Im about 6h ahead in imprinting compared to maturation...

    We hatched the wyvern on 19.01. 18:00 utc+1. Total maturation 92h, so they should be done at 23.01 14:00 utc+1. But now, 22.01 20:45 they have 25% maturation = 24,6h left. That mean they are done at 23.01 21h. Thats 7h later than expected.

    I would accept, that they are later done due lagging, but the mysterios thing is, the imprinting is in time (except that time I fucked up by myself). But this should lead to be the imprint behind maturation. Not the imprint bevor the maturation!

    Only think thats work for me, that they match the imprint timer with the real time. If the counter says imprint in 5h, than the imprint is in 5h. Doesnt matter how laggy the server is. But the maturation is still matched with the ingame time of ark and laggs increase the ingame time.

    Anyone here that had the same and can confirm this?

    Aimbot/esp on xbox small tribes and crossplay

    Dead when dismounting from a bird that already landed

    Hi!

    A friend often dies when he gets off his bird even though it already landed on the ground. I didn't believe it for a while, but once I took him to an ice cave and when we dismounted to farm some oil he randomly died.

    This happens quite a lot and the reason is "fall damage"... on the ground...sure.... He is the only one this happens to on our server, he just got the game two days ago.

    What could be the reason, any ideas? :x

    Like the title says, I used set time of day command and now the time stopped ticking. Anyone know how to fix it so the time moves again? I can change the time to whatever I want to..but it will be that time and never change. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cryopod disappeared

    I uploaded a cryopod with a very good managarmr, it said refreshing inventory and the cryo disappeared. Any idea how to get my mana back?
