    PvE: Just realised how important base location is for fun

    So, I'm fairly new to Ark, just started about 10-14 days ago. Yesterday I realized something which may be helpful to other starters.

    Your base location is so important for fun. I started as a beach bob and built a nice looking home on one of the southern islands. It took some days but eventually i started to be really bored by the game. Nothing happening around my base as i gathered more and more dinos from other islands.

    I had to go on a long, long trip for everything. Farming metal, obsidian, crystal - flying time alone felt like an hour. Finally, a trip to the snowmountains in the north of The Island made me realize how fucked up a base in the south is. I flew there with my argy, grabbed two Kairukus, flew back to the base. Took me more than an hour. Would have to go there again as i lost the female while taming it.

    So i decided to change location. Threw all my dinos on a raft and navigated as far as i could through the rivers. Then continued through the redwoods. I lost a lot of resources on my way. Also, many dinosaurs died: RIP to 3 Raptors, a Pterenadon, a Sarco, two Igiguanodonos, a Parasaur, a Therizinosaur, an Oviraptor and an Otter.

    But boy was it worth it! I secured some land between the volcano and the river with barricades and built a nice stonetower. Felt like a new start as only a Baryonyx, a Sabertooth, an Argy and Megaloceros lived through our journey.

    Now there are so many dinosaurs around. From Dodo to T-Rex - everything! This feels like the "real" Ark-Experience. Not this shitty beach camping where the most frightening enemies were Dilos or Insects. And my travel-time is cut at least in half. 2 Minutes to the volcano, 2 Minutes deep into the redwoods, 5 minutes to the swamp, 5 minutes into the snow area. There is a Bronto-Herd in front of my base who kill some carnivores all 5-10 minutes. I've seen some creatures I've never noticed before ( Gigantopithecus - wth!?) and already tamed some new dinos.

    Tl;Dr: Don't stay on the beach. Real Ark starts with building a base in the middle of the map. It will enhance your gaming experience by a lot!
