Story time: Alpha bully gets captured! Posted: 20 Jan 2020 06:57 AM PST Don't have anyone else to share the story with so I thought you guys might enjoy it 😊 I play solo and love to raid, which makes a lot of people mad. I was without a PC or other console for a while, so I played Ark on the Switch (despite it being god awful). Since it only has the island, it was kind of fun to go back to basics though. I got the attention of the alpha tribe on my server when I bola'd and killed one of them randomly in the woods when they hopped off of their argy. It got worse when I raided one of their outposts with sloppy turret placement, and it got to the point where any time I logged on, they would talk smack, ask where I was in chat, put bounties out if someone took me prisoner, etc. At one point they ended up taking me prisoner because I carelessly logged out in a destroyed base and was found. Luckily the guy forgot to put gas in the generator, and I froze to death without the a/c units he placed being on. I decided I needed to get revenge! I logged on with my brother's account and took a pt around to explorer notes to get to level 70, then I started to make friends with the alphas over chat and on the discord. I "complained" about how my main character had killed all my passive dinos, and asked for help finding him so that I could "get revenge." The alphas agreed and the hunt was on for my main character. Meanwhile, I had my main character make a little fake base to sit in with the door open, and pre-fabbed a prison room complete with chair, handcuffs, A/C unit, generator, food and water, stone and wood to weight, etc. My alt character built that deep in the woods within long walking distance from the fake base. The next day, on my alt, I messaged an alpha admin that I found my main character asleep! He rushed over on an argy to check it out, and actually went inside to see the sleeping body of my main they wanted to capture. I knocked him out in the small area after using a bola while he was in his inventory, and dragged him all the way through the woods to the prison location where he was weighted, handcuffed, fed, etc with a clown mask on. It was far enough away and hidden so that they didn't find him for over 24 hrs. I popped in occasionally to talk smack and make sure he wasn't dead, and it was great to see him go from cocky to trying to offer me stuff if I would please release him and them calling me on discord constantly. When I told them it was me on an alt character they were so angry, I don't think they will trust anyone ever again! and then everyone stood up and clapped. jk submitted by /u/SubDrifter [link] [comments]

Looking for a mod for an alternative in-game map. Posted: 20 Jan 2020 04:24 AM PST I recently started playing this with my wife, and we really enjoy it. That said, we both find the in-game map lacking. I was wondering if there was a mod that would provide an alternative. At the very least, we'd like to be able to zoom in and out and share map markers. I looked around the steam workshop, but since the term map is more commonly used to describe the play arena than in-game cartography, I did not have any luck. Does anybody have any recommendations? Doing Rockwell/Tekcave in prim+ Posted: 20 Jan 2020 09:16 AM PST Hey guys. I want to do the tekcave or rockwell in prim+ to ascend and get more levels. Do u guys have any advice how to do it? We dont have high dps weapons like the shotgun, no ranged tek saddles and other stuff. Can't see floating names (Xbox) Posted: 20 Jan 2020 12:09 PM PST When I walk up to a creature or look at my tames, the name and level don't pop-up. I only see the blue information box on my tames and nothing on wild dinosaurs. It's really annoying to have to knock out animals just to see their level. I've tried enabling floating names, which did nothing; and typing 'ForceServerNoHud' which didn't work either. Everywhere I look says backspace or something like that, but no option for xbox users. Tek Cave Posted: 19 Jan 2020 06:43 PM PST So a friend and I did gamma tek cave with no intentions of making it to the overseer to get the lay of the land and it was incredibly easy. Was just wondering if there's any difference between gamma/beta/alpha tek cave. (I mean just tek cave. Eggs hatching at lower levels than they should Posted: 19 Jan 2020 10:04 PM PST I always keep a note of my dinos' base levels in their names, max level in the server I'm on is 1200 (1799 tamed). If you breed two max level perfect tames (i.e. Two 1799 level dinos) they will often come out as only level 100-1000 (not anywhere around 1799 like I'd expect) My sister has messed with the files in the server (it is hers, so) and we're not sure if that caused it or if it's just a glitch. Options for disabling raptor pounce (single-player, PC version)? Posted: 19 Jan 2020 01:35 PM PST I like the new Raptor model, and the pack/alpha buff, but I have zero love for how the pounce is supposed to enhance enjoyment of the game (particularly in single player). Anyway, there's a mod called UACreatures (unannoyed creatures) that disables all ways mobs can stun, grab, or dismount you (including Raptor pounce). I'm about to start a new playthrough on Aberration, and I'd still like to find the crabs scary, and the Megalosaurus as well, but Raptors are everywhere, and I don't want to deal with the pounce. Other than that mod, I think I can somehow manually replace Raptor 2.0 with the old models/raptors - does anybody know if that's possible and how? With how many ways we're given to tweak the game now, I'd love to see a checklist of options to disable specific mob's special abilities (particularly the disabling ones). Particularly for single player, it's nice being able to modify the game's settings to where one finds it most enjoyable. submitted by /u/MCFroid [link] [comments]
