Question about constant update/game corruption Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:50 AM PDT Posting for a buddy who's been struggling. Ever since Genesis launch he's been having crazy game corruption every time it updates, and sometimes even if it doesn't. He's had to verify game files a dozen times, which takes 4 hours or so on his internet, and sometimes it decides to do it a second time on its own, or gets stuck and doesn't finish until repeated cache clearing and restarting. Below are pictures of today's errors. Yesterday it was "Corrupt Disk" in steam, showing something about the "seekfreecontent" folder in steams download cache. These have all happened several times, and eventually enough verifies get it to work. He's cleared steams cache. Repaired steam library. Un-subbed all mods. Uninstalled and re-installled ark. Reinstalled ark to a completely separate hard disk from his ssd, and back again. He's played hundreds of hours prior to this expansion. No other steam games are struggling to update or run. I'm stumped on what else to do, but want to be able to keep playing with him. Hoping someone may have some insight. Today 5 seconds after launch Today on second launch when trying to load assets almost instantly after clicking join server. Possible solution for game crashing when mounting/riding dinosaurs. Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:42 AM PDT I don't know if this is where I should post this, but I was having this issue for two straight days and found a LOT of questions asking how to fix this, not one of which had a single answer. I figured out a solution, but I can't respond to any of those posts because they're either old enough to be archived, or because responding would result in necroing a years-old Steam thread. So, uh, in case this helps anyone having the same issue who, like me, tried removing mods, verifying the game files, and completely reinstalling the game to no avail, the solution that finally fixed it for me was removing the saddles from all of my dinosaurs that were wearing them and putting them back on. My one problem with Ark... Posted: 29 Mar 2020 06:10 AM PDT Let's start this off with, Yes I know the game has many game breaking issues at the moment but aside that, my personal issue with the game is building render distance. Man I would love it if I could stand atop the volcano (island) and look across to 'The Frozen Tooth' to see my base, but instead I have to be what seems like 20 feet from the darn thing. Yeah Yeah I know an option like this would most likely leave me with fps of below 30 but satisfactory manages to do it (timestamped evidence https://youtu.be/t2X3wlvoShg?t=1228) just imagine being able to see peoples bases and their lights from a cruising quetzal altitude. I just hate the pop in, especially at night when my friends house is just the other side of a lake and all I can see is an empty field. ARK on the Switch Unplayable in Multiplayer Posted: 29 Mar 2020 03:31 AM PDT How are we supposed to play this game with a friend if you can't password protect a non dedicated session? There are people who just go server to server, griefing every room. There is an option to password protect, but it does not work. We need a way to make a stored dupe char on official. Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:40 PM PDT Kinda like a save game mechanic. That lets you upload a save and download your latest save of your character. In case of losing the main. People still losing characters left and right and with the amount of stuff that is attached to your character now, my biggest fear is to do a server transfer, just to see my char go poof. We have the extra levels and missions and everything now and if I understand it correct, you get pretty much nothing back, which is insane. I know poison trees you can get some and in lunar area you can get some from rocks, but are there gas veins anywhere? Any location on lunar that has more?
