    A newfound appreciation for Paraceratherium.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 09:55 AM PST

The largest land mammal to ever roam the planet, the Paraceratherium is related to rhinos, with a long giraffe like neck and stout and sturdy legs to support its massive weight (15-20 tonnes). They may have travelled in herds covering large distances to eat vegetation that others could not reach, but were likely prone to overheating due to their massive size. The largest skull is over 4ft long. They are thought to reach the maximum possible terrestrial mammal size. The size limit could be a result of carrying a developing baby for many years before it is born. Size could also be limited by biomechanics like overheating from digestion of large quantities of food. It isn't exactly known how dinosaurs got so much larger than mammals could grow, but laying eggs and not having to carry around a developing young for years may play an important role. Some researchers think the biology of dinos such as their bird-like lungs allowed them to get so much bigger than other terrestrial animals.

Human gestation period: 9 months. Elephant gestation: 2 years! Paracer gestation: exact unknown, likely longer than 2 years based on body size. Producing young would be very time and resource intensive, and not very often. Can you imagine carrying around a giant fetus for years!? Sure would make breeding in Ark slow.

The connection to rhinos is based on teeth shape. Paracer didn't have a horn, but may have had a prehensile lip for foraging.

Their fossils are found mostly in Eurasia, like Mongolia and China, but also further west.

https://youtu.be/SDk1Ft50bsI PBS Eons is an incredible show, and they've covered many of the species found in Ark.

I'm not sure I've ever bothered breeding paracers in game. Do they lay eggs, and if so, what other mammals in Ark aren't giving live birth? Do any ark creatures give live birth?

    Console commands on Xbox One?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:55 AM PST

    Hey everyone!

My wife and I have our own small server we like to play on. She's on her Xbox, I'm on my PC with the Win10-Version, and I've been trying since we started to execute commands on her Xbox. Even connected an old USB keyboard.

Google led me to several pages, among them one of the awesome Gamepedia pages (which are usually reliable), but it seems I can't get it to work.

Pressing the button combination in the pause menu seems to have no effect whatsoever, and pressing it in-game seems to only open the chat.

Does one of you wonderful people have an idea what we may be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance, and have an awesome weekend!

    Server screen buttons not responding

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 09:24 AM PST

It will not let me change the filter settings for the search or join any servers. I have cleared the cache and that didn't fix the issue. Anyone else run into this problem or have any idea how I might fix it?

What player speed can out run raptors?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 08:26 AM PST

Or what player speed do you think is optimal. I played 1 run through with a higher speed stat bc someone told me to but I forgot what number he said. I had a much better play through, I just remember him saying you can out run raptors.
