| Posted: 01 Mar 2019 11:12 PM PST I've been playing solo/local for about a year, so I'm not a total noob. However, in all that time I never played pvp. I started last week and I've got about 15 hours in. Set up a solo base on ragnarok deep in the jungle biome. Guess I've been playing local too long cause my base was big enough to get noticed. There I was, flying back to base on my freshly-tamed 200 Argy with a beaver ready to drop in my taming pen. "Damn, I left the door to my base open again. Need to stop doing that." As I walk inside to deposit the cementing paste I just picked up, I look up to see 3 dudes totally ransacking my shit. You know, the kinda fuck boys that just popcorn your shit everywhere whether they want it or not. They must have just started rat-fucking my loot when I walked in tho, because all 3 just stopped and stared for a second and nobody did anything. They were surprised I walked in the door, and I was surprised there were 3 strangers balls deep in my 15 hours of farming. One of them came to their senses first I'm ashamed to say. He popped off a round with a longneck. Ok, cool. But I had a brand new pump-action shotgun with 50 rounds of ammo. Let me tell ya, I went full-on Pulp Fiction with that thing and really fucked them up, and I had the biggest shit eating grin on my face the whole time. They kept respawning and coming back, and I kept killing them. This went on for about 45 min and I ran out of ammo. So when they came back I started picking them up with my Argy and seeing how far I could drop them. This is where I fucked up. When you pick up a dino with a flyer on local and they attack you it only hurts the flyer. I learned the hard way that in pvp the rider also takes damage. So, on the third trip to the sun my wax wings melted. I died, my argy died, and they got some of my good gear. I managed to stash some of the best stuff in between their spawns, but it sucks my argy died. All in all, that was really fun. I don't think I can ever go back to playing local again. | Crash on startup Windows 10 - Solution Posted: 02 Mar 2019 07:46 AM PST I was dealing with an issue where my Windows 10 version of ark crashes immediately on start up and I fought tooth and nail trying to figure out what was causing this issue to finally reach a solution and I thought I would share it with everyone because I don't want people to have to experience the hardship I went through trying to figure this one out. At first I tried a bunch of suggestions I found on the ark forums, specifically this forum; People on that forum have confirmed that uninstalling and reinstalling DLC has solved this issue but I didn't have any DLC to do this, downloaded a $1 skin to try it and it didn't work, maybe it would have worked if I had downloaded an actual map, regardless if you tried that and its still not working/don't have DLC Here's what I tried, Made sure all software and drivers are up to date, signing out of Xbox app and Microsoft store/restarting, uninstalling reinstalling Ark, deleting other games files that I had downloaded the same day the issue arose, I even went as far as completely resetting my computer and having to reinstall restore all my optimisation programs and settings for a clean slate and it still crashed. Here's how I finally fixed it, After reading through the forums again I noticed a lot of people stating they had a DCOM error listed in their event logs. I check my event logs, low and behold, a DCOM error showing up corresponding to Ark. Specifically DistributedCOM error 10016. At this point after a quick search I found this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjz8uLblc_8 And after following all the steps, Ark was fixed! (I think its worth noting that in the video when he got to the "Runtimebroker" part, I found that I had two instances of this and that I could only make changes on the second one. Also that he wasn't very clear about it in the video but you have to press the "Add" button again and choose the administrator group as was done earlier.) | Allosaurus breeding issue/surprise? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 10:07 AM PST So according to the wiki, Allos have 3 zones. Belly, body and spines aka the plates. We have hatched tons of all eggs. North of 500 at the moment. We have hatched 1 different color plate but it was black. Every other one has been the standard orange/red. But we recently hatched the egg in the link. The yellow is new, definitely a mutation and definitely not one of the 3 listed color zones. What the hell is going on?? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Different Creature For Each Boss Posted: 02 Mar 2019 09:39 AM PST I've been getting a little tired of PvP lately so I decided to do my first solo play through, from The Island to Extinction. As I understand it, single player bosses are easier due to the higher stats on tamed creatures and the lower stats on the bosses themselves (Please correct me if wrong on this as I have no personal experience). So to give myself a little added challenge, I thought it would be cool to try to defeat each boss with a different kind of creature, plus 1 Yuty for support. So for example, on the Island maybe Theris for the Dragon, Sloths for the Broodmother, Yutys for the Monkey, and Rexes for the Overseer! Let me know if any tips or ideas you have for different creatures for each boss, and if you have any personal experience for the single player bosses, I'd love to hear it! [link] [comments]  | ||
