| I’m just going to say it: This is terrible. Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:51 AM PST Let's put all the Delays aside, I don't believe we should but for the sake of just looking at the gameplay we shall. Map: Super small with over half of it in "no build zones". I don't think it has any main PVP potential. Maybe it will because of the next point. No flyers: This is dogshit and misleading. There are Pt's and Argents everywhere, can't fly them. Optimization: Currently on PS4 it's 50/50 if you blue screen while teleporting. Also I can't complete any race missions because of how bad the framerate and lag are. Im sure you all know what circle glitching is, well it's so badly optimized, it does it for you. Thus making any mission with a jump impossible. Gameplay: Whoever thought the swamp was "easy" and made the Insect swarm mechanic should have their mouth pissed in. It clearly wasn't playtested. There isn't a good place to start. My current gameplay loop is get metal tools, teleport to snow and try to kill a sheep for pelt before I die, then teleport back to my metal to make fur. The snow seems the best bet but you need fur. Spawning: Why can't we spawn on death in N,W, etc. Spawning in just to teleport, with the risk of Blue screen is a big time waster. Overall: The lack of flyers, small map, not good starting area, optimization, and everything else listed makes this the worst experience I've ever had on ark. I do not recommend 3/10, new Dino's are cool if you can get a mating pair back to a good map. Playing on Offical PS4, LVl 107. [link] [comments]  | ||

Posted: 26 Feb 2020 09:40 AM PST Sure it'd be nice if there weren't build restrictions, but if they didn't have them we'd all be calling them idiots for letting people build where the missions are, and I can't think of any other way they could've done them. I haven't flown around the map, but just in normal gameplay/riding around on tames it seems more than big enough. The biomes look amazing, especially the lunar and lava biomes imo. The biome barriers also feels like a non issue to me. I feel like people are moaning about it before they've even played it to find out if it ruins it for them. The missions are fun too, they're cool little side activities to do on the side. Main grips so far though are the swarms being a pain in the ass and there not being any new early-game tames. Dollie mentioned that they could be made untameable. PLEASE don't do this. We don't need another corrupted situation as those were a tease and just useless. It would be better for them to just confirm if flyers are intended or not and to allow these creatures to be tameable and transferrable so people can breed them on other maps. I'd hate to see their new patterns go to waste and for them to essentially be dead weight. [link] [comments]  | ||

They aren't a real threat but they are the most annoying thing I have ever come across in any game that I can remember. They are just stamina drainers. | Briefly tested tricks for flying and no build zone Posted: 26 Feb 2020 10:10 AM PST This is based on my 4-5 hours last night on unofficial ps4. Flying: Was able to fly in ocean biome on a force tamed pelagornis. Was able to fly on a spawned griffin in bog biome Not super helpful but it's something if someone was wondering a good way to quickly get to know the maps and find base areas. Build zone: Built a raft and placed in water in ocean biome in a no build zone. But could not place anything on it. Drove it to a build zone. Placed things on it, then drove it back into non build zone. Worked fine. So possibly having a raft base is something to think about. Also, there is a huge underwater dry zone just under the water surface in ocean biome surrounded by a tek looking barrier. Very cool looking inside. Can build in it. Has a few farmable resources in it. Found it right before hopping off for the night. Did not write coords down, will update here as soon as I get back on. This map is pretty tough to like tbh. The combination of the build zone and flyers is the problem. If one of the two were a non issue then it would be a different story. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:01 AM PST so for me, i think certain parts of the map look really great. but, how do you guys feel about the gameplay? i'm feeling like it's not a single player map so far. I haven't sunk to deep into videos i just did a basic exploration as much as I could and called it a day. But for me this is kind of like extinction, boring. Island, Scorched and Abberation were great maps. For me it just seems like wildcard didn't know what to do after abberation. What the f**k, isn't ARK: Survival Evolved supposed to be a SURVIVAL GAME? How is this a survival game?
I can see a huge spike of people joining Genesis map today in unofficial, then many of them moving back to Ragnarok. Happens on my discord group as well, most players tried out the new map for a couple of hours, then they're back to Ragnarok. WC, just create a big fucking map like Ragnarok and add those biomes and new dino into it, remove the stupid mission thing that doesn't fit the name -- ARK: Survival Evolved [link] [comments]  | ||
| Megachelon was a great idea, useless in game. Posted: 26 Feb 2020 04:31 AM PST I was mainly excited about this expansion for the giant sea turtle, aka the Megachelon. It seems great, giant moving platform you can build on, submersible. Unfortunately you are unable to build auto turrets or plant-x on this turtle. Your base will be easily raided and easily killed. If you try to hide it underwater, you may escape enemy players, but it will die to wild dinosaurs. Something you can build a base on is useless if you have no way to protect said base. I usually have to allot a 5 hour chunk of my day just to download ark, first theres something like a 20-30 gb download, sure thats fair. then I have to download another 20-30 gb download... for some fucking reason... then I have to verify my game.. and download the whole game again for some god damned reason.. fucking why!? Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:05 AM PST So I own 2 private server and mostly play one of them on ragnarok, I've let other people into my server to help them out and make things way easier for them, these people were in an alliance with me also and I had given them free gigas and wyverns for starting out, I had invited these people to my server so that they would not be constantly offline and wiped out, kept the server pvp so that we could host events with rewards Now I went on vacation and these people went to my base and claimed almost all of my dinos because the timers had gone up... Later in my tribe logs show my tek storages were destroyed as well as my cryofridges... NOT auto decayed Keep in mind I was in an alliance with this group and told them I had to go away and couldn't help them out for awhile So long story short I was insided on a server that I OWN , now what would you guys do if this happend to you ? There base is already surrounded with titans as well.. I'm a little upset. My options are basically Wipe them out completely Give them a chance to return my things and explain themselves (thousands of items and over 100 dinos) Rollback the server regardless of these people loosing over a weeks work.. keep in mind I've lost over 2 months on the server I OWN [link] [comments]  |
