Lunar biome invisible attack and defense drones Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:07 AM PST ok so boom there we are in a lunar cave building up... then randomly were getting damaged... cant figure out why... but its destroying structures too... we look to reddit... cant find out what it is... someoen suggested it was cold/radiation kinda damage... but there was no status icons... anyways one of us finally dies to the tick damage... turns out theres attack drones in the mesh or they are invisible and glitched... kinda like how broodmother was on valguero sometimes... Mining drill up to 40% worse than pickaxe on average Posted: 29 Feb 2020 07:43 AM PST Been messing around with the mining drill since about around 30 minutes after it came onto PC, the rates on singleplayer seemed pretty low to me but I thought it was just my settings. Hopped over to official Genesis to learn the engram, transferred back and crafted 3 mining drills to play around with. The following gathering amounts are from the current 2x official servers. After testing with around 630 gasoline so far and fixing a few drills, it looks shiny and modern but the metal pickaxe / hatchet is almost always superior (see all resources tested on below) and doesn't cost black pearls to make (and they are also fairly shiny). I'll keep it on me for the reduced resource weight when equipped but not much drilling. The following resources I have tested and found worse results with or just about on par with hand gathering or a metal pick/hatchet:- Obsidian, crystal, stone, river rock, swamp bushes, regular bushes, corpses, chitinous corpses that can be harvested, metal rock, dense metal rock, sulfur, salt, ground items (pebbles and such), cactus bushes, silk bushes (minor gain sometimes), swamp trees (and their shrooms). The amount of organic polymer is alright on mantises, about the same or slightly higher than chainsawing them. Joshua trees do not drop any sap also when drilling. Also Tek dinos didn't give much difference. The only resources I have seen it perform equal or better than a metal tool (not chainsaw and in some cases not much higher than stone tools) are consistently with increased thatch, sometimes (most of the time not) meat/hide and finally silk from moth corpses (but only sometimes, e.g. 40 silk, 80 or a giant 430 silk!). Where large redwood resource trees give 3000+ wood and a bit of thatch with a chainsaw (during 2x events), the mining drill swaps this around to 2976 thatch and 432 wood for me. So within ~30 seconds I have 10k thatch on official. Unfortunately with most resources it can be around 30% worse than a hatchet / pickaxe (never mind a chainsaw) - a quick metal run with the primitive drill vs a 210% damage pickaxe on a small redwoods pillar on The Center gets: 1748 metal, 764 stone, 292 crystal and 4 mushrooms; My swamp fevered character with a metal pickaxe just gathered from the same area after nodes respawned, giving me: 2600 metal (+33%) , 1304 stone +(41%), 508 crystal (+47%) and 12 shrooms. My new anky gets 4400 metal so that's 60% more than the drill or 40% more than me with a pickaxe. I know the drill isn't meant to beat any dedicated tames but it should be on par with the pick at least as a level 80 unlock. Many small Scorched Earth rocks that get me ~116 flint each and some stone/sand with my pickaxe give up to half as much combined as only sand and stone when using a drill; the drill doesn't gather on many creatures such as chitinous ones, and doesn't like working on carnivores. The drill also suffers from the chainsaws infinite sound bug til you rejoin the server. The Plant Z effect the drill had seems to no longer work on creatures or if it still does work then I've not found the right creatures to drill in the face before swapping weapons out. Also the drill may at times gather 1 (one) resource from a corpse and only work from a very specific angle. I have yet to try using the drill on - Sand nodes, the valguero tree stumps that drop a lot of sap, charcoal trees, fungal trees, jellyfish corpses, leeches, element nodes or the other Genesis specific ones. Also not tried it on extinction lampposts and things on that map. Can't think of any other resources that I either tried but didn't add to this post or didn't bother drilling (eurypterids). If we could select a menu on the drill to choose which resource to prioritize (e.g. more crystal than stone...) that would help increase the harvest amounts of the thing you want most; so that you get closer to the amount that a pickaxe collects. I didn't include fiber gathering because use of the drill for fiber is too insane, the chance for fiber gathering by hand (not sickle) brings it fairly close in effectiveness. [link] [comments] | ||

I asked this in a thread yesterday and my question got no answers but it did get upvotes so it seems others want to know as well, so I tested it today. Built a wooden ocean platform, founds a Leeds, and stuck the platform right above him. He completely ignored it. So they do NOT treat these as rafts and it is perfectly safe to put them down wherever you want. [link] [comments] | ||

However, I can see a lot of cool mod content coming out of this. Just imagine a whole map that's a mix of Scorched Earth and the volcanic biome, or an actual ocean based map. Posted: 29 Feb 2020 12:42 AM PST I understand launch bugs to an extent, I don't understand fundamental game changes, unplayable states, etc in a DLC for a 4 year old game, that was delayed 3 months. Currently they are reworking Bloodstalkers(Twitter) to take less blood bags. You can't build a rep on Genesis(called an oversight on Twitter), some missions are impossible because of performance which makes Boss impossible. The teleportation system kills you 90% of the times because of the initial lag and it not keeping you on a saddle. I could go on about things that will be changed, eventually. These aren't bugs, these are fundamental gameplay problems on top of horrible bugs and performance. Does wildcard not play test anything? Only on high end PC's? I made the mistake of opening 1 10k one and got a primitive ghillie mask.....1 mask bp. 30 armor 50 dura.....head explode What a waste of hexes in the current state. Posted: 29 Feb 2020 08:34 AM PST So apparently in singleplayer (non-dedicated) a few water spawners are broken completely, making the creatures that spawn there impossible to obtain. Disabling hibernation does NOT fix this, you must be running on dedicated or they will not spawn. Confirmed:

Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:57 AM PST So the new scanning mechanic has plenty of ups and downs but I'm not here to talk about that. My problem is that for some reason I am unable to see any of the stats of a scanned creature. All it shows are the bars for their health and food etc. No numbers whatsoever. I've seen PC players use the scanner and it will tell them numerically how much health the creature has as well as the rest of its stats. Is this a console bug or is this how it's intended for us? The most I've seen was nearly 30 players extra, at around 95 out of 70. Seems that it happens daily since release, so I'm not sure how to join other than waiting til midnight or early mornings. First Impressions: Pillars everywhere on PvE Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:46 AM PST Hi there, Just started playing the game through the free trial and love it, although there is one major flaw keeping me from purchasing the game: Pillars. Everywhere. 2 hours of searching for land to put a half decent base and nowhere. Pillars everywhere - only 4 people on the server. Absolutely ridiculous. How am I meant to have fun when all I am doing is wasting my own time by respawning looking for places to build a base to only find they have been claimed by pillars where there isn't even a base to look at? Or bases that pillar but their base is miles away? It's absolutely game breaking for official PvE servers. Now level 32, I've made it by with a shitty 2x2 base, but I cant seem to progress to a larger dino-holding base because of PILLARS. There should be rules in place against this. Sure enough for PvP you can just explode the bastards - but for the new-players playing PvE, it sure was not a good introduction for the game. And before you say get off the beach, I've been searching for a very long time in quite a few servers with a low base players and the problem is large. When reading online, this has been an ongoing issue in official PvE servers for a while - why aren't you doing a fucking thing about it? It makes me wonder if the developers have actually played PvE, its a game-mechanic the just annoys the fucking shit out of everybody. Time-wasting! [link] [comments] | ||
Cant mount my argy, need help! Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:43 AM PST Playing on an xbox unofficial pc server of a friends. The map is ragnarok and I've got a base on the swamp castle and in viking bay. All of my other dinos I can mount, but the argy I have at either base will not let me on. I've tried taking the mount off, having them follow me to another location and try, restarting console and joining multiple times. Anything else I'm missing here? My player ded shuts down everytime I search Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:40 AM PST I have a weird problem and searching for fixes has led to nothing. So I have a second Ps4 and run a player dedicated server on Valguero. Ever since Genesis dropped we have been having issues joining the server. Invites no longer work they just say "the map Valguero_p has not been downloaded" but there is no download for it on PS4...so we have to use the search function to join. My friends can all find it on the list and join it no problem, but the second i select "Join Ark" and select to search for Player Dedicated the server drops everyone in it and shuts down. Tried switching maps and everything but nothing...any ideas or is this just going to be another bug roadblock that forces me to quit playing Ark...? I do not believe this is a net issue as the day prior to yesterday i had no problems joining and i even had a friend over and he joined as well...have restarted my router as well and nothing. The only thing that changed was I played some singleplayer on Extinction and put an enforcer in the Ark to transfer to Valguero on our dedicated. Since then I removed the enforcer from the ark transfer and still issues... [link] [comments] | ||
