Posted: 01 Jul 2020 10:57 AM PDT So they only auto gather when you're in the area? Once I move away from the dino or log off they dont dont seem to gather anymore because when i come back and check their inventory it hasnt increased at all but when I'm there just looking at them they do gather by themselves. Anybody know for sure? thank you! [link] [comments]
Wanting to take on Alpha Broodmother, need some input Posted: 01 Jul 2020 10:28 AM PDT For others that have done it, do you think 18 X-Rexes with 98-armor saddles, 30k health, and 500% damage, a Yuti and a Daedon will do the trick? [link] [comments]
Connection Timeout Due To NAT On Official Servers Posted: 01 Jul 2020 09:01 AM PDT Ever since EGS launch, my wife and I, who are mobile broadband users, have not been able to connect to official servers. Not a single one. We can connect to unofficial just fine. The problem has been narrowed down to a NAT issue - double NAT. For the past five years we have never had this issue, and for the last few weeks it has been plaguing us. We can connect via VPN, but it is far from ideal. Constant ping spikes. Is anyone else having this issue? It would definitely appear to be a server side issue, as nothing on our end has changed. [link] [comments]
DifficultyOffset below 1 and max Dino Levels Posted: 01 Jul 2020 04:36 AM PDT Hello, I recently got a server for my friends and me running Ragnarok. We started with the recommended settings of DifficultyOffset=1.0 und DifficultyOverride=5.0. But after a while we got annoyed by the uneven spawns (most Dinos > Level 90) and the increments of 5 in Dino Level. Could anyone explain how exactly the Dino spawn level is calculated and if there is any possibility to get a nice Bell-Curve of Dino Levels, or at least uniformly distributed levels? Thank you very much! [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Jul 2020 05:54 AM PDT Hi All, Sorry to be that guy but i just wanted to post on here to see if im missing something. Why is the ark community so unbelievably toxic. I've played about 20 different servers now and each and every time i survive a day before someone comes along on a lvl 300 wyvern or something, destroys my thatch base and spreads a disease to me that i'm about 40 levels away from curing. Is there some kind of trick to finding a server that's not full of pathetic no lifers that prey on noobies? i don't mind pvp but jesus christ at least let me get to level 10 and train 1 dino before destroying me with endgame stuff. Do dinos get XP in an AoE from slain alphas? Posted: 01 Jul 2020 05:03 AM PDT So if I'm on an Argy and I have 5 Argy's on "Attack this target" and we all kill an alpha carno, will all of the Argy's get XP? [link] [comments]

Argy breeding - help a noob out Posted: 30 Jun 2020 09:05 PM PDT Guys im pretty new to power breeding to get the best stats so plz be gentle. Can anyone explain to me why i keep getting crap stats when ive got my best birds on the job? The situation: 2nd gen female came out with the best stats ive had from a breed so far, 600 melee, 2000 weight, 2000 stam, 5000 health. (Dont judge me, im new 😁) The stats she came out with far exceeded my tamed agys that i bred to get her. So i figure i keep breeding her with my best dudes to keep getting them good stat mutations. Doesnt matter which boy i breed her with, the babes all come out with way underwhelming stats that are far below the males also. I dont understand how this can be the case? I would have thought that at least they would come out in between the mum and dad stat range and not far below it. So far ive had 7 babies and they all come out with the EXACT same stats as the baby before it regardless of the male i use to breed. WHAT DOES THIS MEANNNN? What am I doing wrong? Posted: 30 Jun 2020 11:27 PM PDT I realise this is a game. I am just tired of being hurt. I was on a server hosted by my BIL via Nitrado. I had offered to pay and was very hesitant to let him have control, he can be manipulative and likes to have power. Nitrado began glitching a day ago, and our stacks were not functioning properly. For example, 800 Elemental Dust was now being shown as 8. I googled, yahoo'd, binged and found answers and solutions. Changing server ini, swapping server data, waiting for Nitrado to fix it, blah blah. The reason? This is the first time I've ever played Ark and I put my soul in to it. I worked for hours building a huge base with behemoth gates, a house that was decorated, a four story storage unit, a dinosaur barn, a home base with fabricator, smithy, and chemistry bench. I even managed to make a huge industrial forge! I tamed my first big dinosaur, "Diablo", the Spino. I made a 300% greenhouse effect GREENHOUSE. I was dedicated and worked hard. My sister is the type of player to build a metal box with a door and call it a base. Which is fine, but it took her all of ten minutes to set up where I spent hours on an elaborate town set up. My sister and BIL decided because Nitrado was glitching, to move server hosters. I was nervous but had searched ways to move data from our map and server to new hosters and servers so I was pretty okay it. Until I woke up this morning to a message saying they "couldn't figure out how to move data" and had deleted our old server. I just feel flat. I have no desire to play Ark again. My dinosaurs are gone, my base, all of my materials. After I provided so many options, ideas, fixes. I struggled to communicate with them for hours over the issue but they were not patient enough. I am tired. I realise it's a video game. I know. It's trivial. Much worse things are happening. But it was a getaway for me. And now it's gone. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 06:26 PM PDT So first and foremost, I play on a 10x rate low-ish pop PVP The Island server that is only even now on day 225. There is an average of about 10-15 players on during peak times. There are NO mods, just the high rates and increased stats per level. One of the reasons I'm creating this post is to get some information, tips, tricks, and advice from PVP Alpha Tribe veterans. I've got 4000 ARK hours under my belt, but very few of those hours have been on PVP(until now.) Also, I'd like to share my story so you guys can hopefully enjoy the things I've been through on this server. I'd also like to know... Am I doing this right? (This story is LONGGGGGG, so if you don't care about the story but would still like to help out with some advice that's totally okay! I enjoy sharing my experiences with people so that's why I'm writing this!) Lastly, maybe this story will reach the ears of other new players just starting PVP or ARK in general and they also might be able to learn some things to keep them going out in the wild! My story so far... I started by formulating a plan while I ran around collecting XP Shrines and berries/fibre for as much XP as possible over the next 30-60 minutes. I pumped my stats full of speed to get around fast. I settled on 275.5(this server gives 4.5 per point) and just had to learn not to kill myself by running off a tiny bump and flying through the air... There were a few deaths to that to say the least... Finally after an hour or so I hit level 60 and found somewhere I felt was going to be premium in getting far as a solo player. I remember when going to The Hidden Lake for XP Shrines there was a well established Stone base. I definitely wanted to mess with that when I was ready, but first thing was first... ...The area I chose to build was stealthy. Like... Bat-Cave stealthy. I was building off the side of a straight drop hill directly under a canopy of trees you can not see through even with Low view distance. The best part? At the bottom of the drop, and out a bit, was one of those GIANT trees with the really huge long branches full of tree leaves... AND NO COLLISIONS... I knew from a previous experience, REALLY early in my ARK playing days on a PVP server that Stone is just NO GOOD to build in when you're playing on a PVP server. AT ALL. EVER. We had the most camo'd out 5x5 pyramid base SO hidden you'd only find if you were truly looking... But of course, and it only makes sense, people that have stuff to protect, will protect that stuff by going out and making sure other people are not getting too far ahead... And they WILL find your base if they truly want to. Bye bye stone base one night. I learned... The tree branch actually hung over the top of the ridge I was going to build out off of so my first move was to build one Wooden Foundation and put a Smithy, 4 furnaces, and 2 Mortar and Pestle's on it. All of this was hidden inside that tree branches leaves, which are loaded in at max player distance even on low view distance. I followed the rules I researched my first times messing with PVP back in the day. I only cooked metal during the day time, and I farmed the metal at night. I was right at the base of the volcano so there was TONS of metal in walking distance AND obsidian too if I needed any. I was immediately cooking metal in 4 furnaces before my 2nd hour was over. Now that I had metal to play with, I put one pillar up off the side of the ridge so that the first floor(ceiling) was level with the ground at the top of the ridge. That was the Front Middle floor of my soon to be 5x5 pyramid. I learned in my earlier ARK days, when playing on PVP, you should NOT build BOXES... That was a big No No in this video series I was watching. ARK players have trained themselves to see boxes, that's just how it is. You see a box in your peripheral vision and your eyes just auto LOCK to it! So I build my base to look like a pyramid. The center 3x3x1 was flat, but everything around that had sloped ceilings with the sloped walls so that it looked like a little Terran Bunker. Then I painted everything in Olive, Forest, and Mud colors. Inside I had 16 furnaces lining the outside walls of our walkable 3x3(No collisions on builds on this server thank goodness.) A fabricator, smithy, and a few Mortar and Pestle's in the center 1x2x1 which is walled off from the rest of that 3x3. While I was building this I managed to build a stone taming pen right out front of my base and kite a level 80 Argy into it and get it tamed. This was key in getting future levels and loot from raiding. I got it up to 5k HP and pumped the rest of it's points into Melee DMG. It turned into a tiny little monster over time. The base was looking pimp. You could really only see it if you were coming in on land from ONE angle being level with the ground. From every other angle the base was completely hidden by the tree branches leaves or the rest of the tree canopy. Because the base was entirely made out of metal, I was truly proud. We even had a turret on the top with 38 bullets. Not a lot when I now think back on it compared to what I have now, but I was really happy. It was time for my first raid. Remember those guys in The Hidden Lake with the nice stone base? I do! I farmed myself up 20 C4, a Longneck Rifle with a Scope(and one without it for when they're closer range,) and headed out. When I arrived, I landed on top of the ridge and went prone to kind of just scope the whole situation. At the time I thought there was just two of them, and they were home. I quickly realized I didn't really have THAT many bullets, and I wanted some Medical Brew's just in case as well, so I flew back to base to acquire the stuff. Unfortunately as I was getting back up and starting to leave, I whistled at my bird to follow me, and I thought instantly "There's no way they didn't just hear that..." I flew off anyways and stocked up. Upon re-arriving back at The Hidden Lake my suspicions of whether or not they heard my whistle were confirmed. They must have, or they somehow saw me over that tall ridge(doubtful,) because they now had Wooden Spikes almost all the way around the whole Hidden Lake!!! One of the guys was actively putting them up at the time, so I quickly darted over to him, picked him up and dropped him from an insanely high height out on the beach(so he'd have a bit of a run to get back to his body.) When I got back to their base I noticed he did just that. He ran out of the compound and went to look for his body. Meanwhile his friend, who was carrying way too much at the time was slowly running away from the base as well. Once they got to the other side of the Beaver pond I thought "Now is my chance!" I darted down to the roof of their base with my Argy and hopped off. Did they really leave their door WIDE OPEN after I just killed one of them??? They did, and 8 well placed C4 later most of that base no longer existed. Just the part of the shell which I took care of after a few well aimed snipes to the players left alive. I was then greeted with a bunch of Spanish which I translated out to basically "Is that really necessary? We're leaving this server anyways... I hope you die." They left the server. Good times. I felt good. I came out with a few blueprints definitely worth something and a few hundred metal. On the way back home I decided it was time to build a pen for my Argy. I originally intended to build the pen in a different location, but soon realized I could build it UNDER my base since that tree was just so massive. It's a bit exposed from one side, but from the other it's 100% bat cave, you can't see a thing. The camouflage is really well done too so when looking down from up high it blends in PERFECTLY and you really can't even see it. It was time. Time for our Industrial Furnace. But where was I going to build this? I decided the best place to build would be in the little alcove section of the Blue Obelisk. I spent the next several in game days farming to get the Industrial Furnace as well as 9 foundations to place it on. Once acquired, I set out to start building my base at the Blue Obelisk. It's such a premium spot. Metal all over the top of the mountain made it easy to QUICKLY build my base. For the shape, I decided to do a sloped roof from the ground up to the rocks above. The entire base is really only exposed from one side. Everything else is just natural terrain. That entire surface is now covered in turrets with more being added constantly. It's getting outrageous now. Back to a bit earlier though... I found these guys. They too were building way out in the open. On the West side of the map where that giant rock is where the beach meets the snow region. A giant box... I sniped one of their flyers from a far and a bunch of their flyers started coming at me. 5 of them. I wanted to see what they hit me for so I let them get some damage in but they were only hitting me for 24. I was hitting them for 226 or so. So I kited them in land to a big open field and killed them all. I flew back and sniped one of the dudes in the head from the ridge. One of them saw me and started bolting towards me on his Ptera. "You wanna fight?!" he yells at me over voice before hitting me for a measly 24 damage. "Are you sure you want to do this?" I replied after seeing how little damage he was doing. I chase him back to his base. One of his friends gets on an Argy and starts chasing me. We have an aerial battle before I accidentally let him get height and pick me up off my Argy. Lucky for me, I have 800 HP, and he must have been spam Right-Clicking because I was IMMEDIATELY dropped. It's almost like I was just tossed off my Argy to the ground. I dropped to 350 HP, but I'm FAST so I run and kite him until I can get back on my argy. At this point he must have felt too far from base so he turned back. I headed back to base... But not before putting a few C4 down around their massive compound walls(behemoth gates made of stone.) and knock them down. This is no doubt what gave them the realization that stone isn't going to cut it because the next time I showed up at their base, it was half metal, with another huge metal section on the side and 7 turrets total on top. Not only that, but there were 4 turrets on the giant rock, and 1 turret I didn't know about directly behind their inner set of gates. So, I use Battlemetrics.com to keep track of whether or not there's players online. I also try to learn which of those steam names are the players online in-game(if I can't get a view of their steam name in-game.) I basically just try to be in the know of what's going on at all times. I had a good feeling these 3 guys I was messing with were part of the OH clan on their Steam tags, so I waited for those names to log off that night... Dirty, I know, but hey, if they defend properly I shouldn't be able to get in as a solo player with no turret tankers right? Wrong... They did not know how to defend their base very well... While my plan was executed in the end, it didn't come without it's hiccups though. The plan was to just get to one side of their metal walls. All of their turrets were DIRECTLY ON TOP of the base and couldn't see over, so going up against ANY of their walls meant I was 100% safe... Well I got excited after bombing their first gate and rushed in on foot instead of using my Argy to tank any entry turret shots... Big mistake. All my armor broke, and my argy was way back where I left him... "Let's just whistle him over" I thought to myself... Big mistake #2. I forgot the Argy is on Neutral and before he can get to me, the turrets start shooting at him. This much I anticipated... But because he was on Neutral he decided to go after all the turrets shooting at him... He died. I tried to make a move... I died. Lucky for me though, I went into that fully willing to lose everything I came with. That's part of my strategy. Don't risk anything you aren't willing to completely lose. It works well for me... Also, I have really high movement speed and my hidden base next to the volcano happens to be a stones skip away from their base, so I run back as fast as I can(while trying not to fly off too many hill bits.) We did it bois... We got our stuff back. See I had grabbed some extra armor from my stash at the hidden base. This allowed me to tank the turret shots needed to get back to my body without dying and STILL have armor good to go. "Now is as good a time as any" I thought as I rushed the wall taking turret damage until about 400 HP. All of that armor broke too, but guess what... We're standing up against their metal wall! Boom... We're inside the base now and I can see the generator. Boom... Turrets offline. It really felt good you know? Being the guy doing the raiding and not getting raided... Who would have thought all my PVE knowledge and practice would help me get this far... Anyways, before logging out that night I waited for them to log back in. I saw the 3 of them log on at the same time then one by one they logged off a minute after each other. I flew by the base again shortly after when grabbing Silica Pearls next to their base and sure enough one of them had run back to the base and logged off. Guess they weren't feeling that. Funny. Both of these tribes had established Stone bases and many dino tames before I ever stepped foot on this server... It really goes to show the difference between a 4000 hour player and someone with far less time in-game. It was at this time I decided to check out Herbivore Island and see what was going on there. Often times server owners will build there, and if not I'm sure SOMEONE was, and sure enough I found a nice metal base with 4 turrets on top. This time the turrets were hanging over the edge so I was sure if I were to fly down beside the wall, they'd still be shooting at me. What I didn't realize though was a Parasaur was detecting me. Once I realized this, I just left. Maybe they'd think I was just scouting for herbivores(if they were even online.) By this point I had some new Argy tames. My main Argy was now beastly as ever, and I had a nice weight Argy to bring along. This time I did it right... Well most of it... I brought a bunch of sleeping bags, I brought a storage with extra armor next to the sleeping bags. I was set and ready to go... Also, one of my Argy's was a PURE HP Argy with the intention of having him soak the turrets while I jumped down and C4'd my way in, sacrificing the Argy... That's not what happened... Well it half happened. My HP Argy definitely tanked those turrets, but I flew ALL the way down, and didn't realize the turrets would swap targets to me if I was closer to them than the Argy was... I died... Again... Even though I could have spawned there on the island, I figured "well my HP Argy is dead so I'll fly over with this one and see if we can try it one last time..." I hopped on a lower level Argy I had sitting around and headed out. I tried to grab any XP Shrines I could find on the way to really pump some HP into this Argy, I didn't get much by the time I got back to the island, maybe a few hundred... It's not looking good, bois... But just then, the unthinkable happened... As we're pulling up on the ridge to look down into the center of Herbivore Island, there he is... The Legend... Our original HP Argy we took over was still alive and those back two turrets were no longer shooting at it... He had tanked the turrets until they ran out of ammo!! Hah! I quickly flew down taking a bit of damage from the front turrets for a second and sure enough, those back 2 had no ammo so I was safe and sound back there!! Before doing anything I renamed the HP Argy "Legend". He's still alive, he sits in my base and enjoys good meals while relaxing now... Anyways, there we are, against their walls and nothing shooting me. This base was ALL metal. Still only 2 high though so no Industrial Forge. I blow open a wall and finally... FINALLY... We're in. I was seriously worried on that one, not going to lie. (Okay, not worried, because again I'd be okay with losing everything I went there with, but just didn't want that to happen regardless.) I had about 40 C4 on me this time, so just about everything was destroyed including their single Vault, all of their walls machines and turrets , and most of their foundations. We got A LOT from these guys. Blueprints galore, materials, you name it. Even an ascendant pump shotgun... Damn... Before leaving though I felt like I had to leave my mark on this one... This was the first base with ACTUAL defense that had me wondering if I'd ever make it inside. These guys were progressed, they were raiding others. They had A LOT OF STUFF... So I quickly threw together a wooden foundation off to the side with a cooking pot and a mortar and pestle, crafted another foundation in the middle of their area, as close to their foundations as I could place it, and put one wall on it.... Then I used the cooking pot and mortal/pestle to make me up some paint dye and I painted on canvas the word TOXIC, all in dark red. I made it look like dripping blood. Then I added some pure red highlights to it and save/loaded it on a canvas on the other side of that wall... When they would log in, they'd have to see who took them out not only in their Tribe log, but it would look like I painted it with the blood of their bodies! I was expecting them to either leave when they got on, or if they were the server owner, possibly kick/ban me or fuck with me in some way, however, that was not the case(and turns out they are NOT the server owner!) They logged in and said... "TOXIC!!!" to which I replied " :) " to which THEY replied " :'( " I felt at this point that they weren't giving up on this server yet though. I told them "I offer you guys a truce" but the dude said "My leader isn't on right now but I doubt he wants a truce with you." Okay so now I'm feeling the salt... Understandably though... But then the leader logged in and said "Thanks, Yolandi, for leaving me completely homeless." After that, I felt that he wasn't angry. A bit sad probably, but not angry or anything, so I said to him. "I offer you a truce. Being the two strongest tribes on the server I think we could go far in an two-tribe Alliance. If you were to accept, I would gift you something to get you back on your feet." (I wanted to make sure he knew I wasn't asking for him to join my tribe or anything, just an Alliance.) Although I expected him to say no, he actually said yes! He basically said "It's clear to me you know what you're doing in this game, and both of us on the same side would be great for keeping other tribes down and killing bosses!" He's not wrong! So now we are in an Alliance together. I suggested to them that they don't build a box anymore, but instead go with something like a sloped ceiling from the ground to the top ridge of the center of Herbivore Island. I showed them a picture of what my base looks like and they agreed that would be safer than just a box. (Keep in mind, I'm fully aware they could turn on this Alliance and try to screw me over. I am ready for that defensively!) So now here we are! In an Alliance with another tribe, and I genuinely feel like they seem chill. They're on the bottom right of the map, I'm on the top left, and I'm the Alpha tribe of the server as a solo! I feel good about that. Time to tame more things and build more turrets and more hidden backup outposts and caches!! =) I hope you enjoyed my story! If there's any advice you guys can give me based on everything you've just read, I'm all ears! [link] [comments]
A question about color regions. Specifically Argies and Smartbreeder Posted: 30 Jun 2020 09:52 PM PDT So I've recently gone a bit farther into breeding than usual and I've gotten into Smartbreeder to show me the stats and exact colors and color regions of my dinos, and I've come across something that isn't making sense to me. Smartbreeder is saying Argies only have 5 color region slots when I seemed to remember them having 6 at one point. I looked on the wiki, and sure enough, they only have 5... But I am counting 6 colors on some of my argies. In the pictures below, the argy has a grey forehead region, "White" feet, a blue body, red details and tail, light blue wing tips, and some kind of magenta color that doesn't show up in smartbreeder located under the tail and speckled throughout the back. I am a tad colorblind, but I'm pretty sure that's some kind of magenta going on. Did argies have 6 regions at one point? Am I crazy? Am I seeing this wrong? Is the extracted data I'm reading wrong? Smartbreeder shows a value of "25" in the empty color slot for some of my argies where others are blanked out. Could the magenta I'm seeing be the result of some kind of overlapping colors? TL:DR do my argies have 5 regions or 6? And what colors are you seeing in the pictures below for each region? [link] [comments]
