Posted: 10 Jul 2021 08:11 AM PDT After observing mealworms before feeding them to a baby crow, I realized that mealworms had tiny legs. This is because they are not actually worms, but rather beetle larvae. The legs become more functional when the mealworm matures and becomes a beetle. Then I realized, deathworms look awfully similar to mealworms. They even have legs, something that worms should not have. So, my theory is that deathworms are actually larvae of a enormous Deathbeetle that probably lives deep in Scorched Earth's sand and never surfaces. Of course, this beetle is never seen in-game, but it would be cool if there was a mod for it. The Iceworm is different. The Iceworm Queen is still a larvae-looking animal, but she is shown to have already laid eggs in the Artifact of the Pack room. So, iceworms are probably like axolotls. Even as adults, they don't enter a mature state, similarly to how axolotls never exit their tadpole stage and lose their gills. Or it might just be that the Death and Iceworm are genetically modified monstrosities that aren't related to beetles at all. [link] [comments] | ||
