Redlight - A Free Open Source "Tribe Log Bot" Posted: 16 Mar 2022 06:58 AM PDT I recently wrote a Tribe Log Bot in Python as a way to monitor tribe logs in game, I wanted to be able to have something that could monitor the status of my in game logs while being able to work on other things and not have to keep Ark as the active window. The program itself only reads imaging from the Aero preview image and constructs the log report as well as detection happens there. My goal is to help balance the PVP community by providing a leveled playing ground as well as providing some peace of mind/health back to the game. I hope that this doesn't violate any ToS and would be willing to discuss it further, for the convenience of anyone wanting to look through the code, I commented it heavily and posted the source as well as a pre-compiled .exe Enjoy and stay safe -V. Who likes to change dinos stat gained per level? Posted: 16 Mar 2022 10:02 AM PDT Just curious about experiences. Some people swear that changing them at all breaks the game, some people like to mess with them. What settings do you like to play on and why? [link] [comments]
Do Tek dinos defend the regular versions of themselves? Posted: 16 Mar 2022 09:39 AM PDT I want to tame this Tek stego but there are a bunch of other stegos around, and I'm worried they'll all gang up on me. Is it safe to attack it? [link] [comments]
Best place to buy a PC server for my and my friends Posted: 16 Mar 2022 07:58 AM PDT I'm want to buy a server to play with my friends and I want to install mods, any suggestions? PS: While I'm on the topic, can you install mods and play with people from Epic? [link] [comments]

Radial Menu is bugged, pops up and disappears too fast to do anything Posted: 16 Mar 2022 01:55 AM PDT My radial menu is bugged. When I hold e, on anything (dino, player, workbench, etc.) the radial menu pops up for the smallest fraction of a second and goes away. I've reset my in-game settings, restarted ark, but it's still happening. Unofficial modded server. It started happening a couple hours into my playing and I've no idea what's causing it. Anyone know of a (potential) fix? Edit - FIXED: My server uses Maga ORP, and for some reason.. not sure why.. it was causing all of this to happen. I picked it up with a demo gun and placed it back down and it's now working [link] [comments]
Best way to farm Sarco Hides and Titanaboa Venom Posted: 15 Mar 2022 05:23 AM PDT So, stomping around a swamp eating everything isn't reliably giving me the tribute items from the titanoboa and sarcosuchus. What's the best way to harvest them? [link] [comments]

Any advice for taming Managarmr on Extinction? Posted: 15 Mar 2022 04:23 PM PDT I'm trying to tame up a Managarmr on Extinction, but I'm having boat loads of trouble. So far I've come across three level 135+ that I've wanted to tame, but various BS bugs prevent me from being able to. I'm keeping this solely on Extinction, so please don't suggest going to another map. I tried freezing one with a snow owl, then placing gateways on top of it to lock it down, but when I did this, I was unable to hit it with my rifle, no matter where I stood or how close or far I got. I tried to get out of range and come back, but of course the geometry loaded in late and the Managarmr just flew off and got wrecked by the first group of Mammoths it could find. The other two I was chasing down and got eaten by the bug where they just disappear into the ground while fighting a Mammoth. I can't seem to figure out how to effectively catch one of these things without it flying off to get killed or getting stomped under the ground. Any advice? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Mar 2022 07:44 PM PDT Hi everyone. I wanted to share my opinion about all maps from the game. Please remember this is just my personal opinion, so it's all about my personal taste, experiences and thoughts. Please feel free to agree or disagree and to share your insights in the comments. I'll do it as a top from the last place to the first one. 12. Valguero Made a base once there. Got boring pretty fast. Since then, my tribe only went there for Deinos once, to never come back again. Also, I don't like how it tries to add Aberration and "Scorched Earth"-ish parts just because. It just tried to add everything already in the game and merge it. Ice Golems look cool, though. 11. Fjordur I don't like the "parallel worlds" concept (biomes, actually). It's just the same design mistake and crime Genesis 1 committed with their biomes (or digital worlds). Some players contradict themselves by hating Genesis but loving Fjordur for the same exact reason, even if Genesis features actual new stuff, like biomes and creatures. It also commits the a mod map shenanigan I don't really like: just take most biomes and creatures in the game and place them somewhere, instead of making a map themed under unique biomes and unique creatures (let's be honest, Fernir is not precisely unique even if it looks cool). I just hope Wildcard keep the Titans exclusive to Extinction. Previous maps do not need to lose reasons to go there (unique creatures/biomes/systems). Not to mention, ARK didn't need another viking-themed map. Ragnarok was fair enough. Why not to improve/update it? It deserves it after if lost its only exclusive creature. I elaborate more about of Fjordur in the Crystal Isles section. There more to say about this kind of maps. 10. The Center A cooler version of The Island. It comes from an era without the biome overflow modern mod maps attempt to have. The problem, and the reason for such a low place in the top: there is not a real reason to go there if you can go to The Island or other mod maps. This is mostly because there's not even a single new creature there. Maybe making a community voting with several new creatures? A water creature would be perfect because of the underwater complexity of the map, based on Tolkien's work and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I'm sure most players would enjoy if a new map gets the top 10 most voted creatures, instead of just 1 or 2. Ignoring the lack of new creatures in The Center, and taking it as an alternate version of The Island to begin your adventure, it would be fairly higher in the top. 9. Lost Island I really like the map's shape is inspired in Tamriel's shape (yeah, the map from The Elder Scrolls, and I'm not going to lie, the shape is literally the same). It also has some cool new creatures. My personal problem is one of the negative points I said with Fjordur. It does feature the standard mod map shenanigans: take most biomes and creatures in the game and place them somewhere. At least we have some reasons to go there, some creatures and it has a large island separated from the main landmass, The Summetset Isles (The Elder Scrolls fans will know what I'm talking about.) It'd work as a very cool The Island alternative, but I don't like the biome overflow. Again, this is just my personal taste, and I'll elaborate more about this later. 8. Crystal Isles I actually liked they added fresh biomes as the red forest, crystal zones and floating islands. Eldrich Isle is scary (even more in the pre-official map). Griffin trench is also pretty. My personal problem are some biomes just like in Lost Island and Fjordur. Still, I love to go there to get tons of polymer and to catch some Griffins, but a map shouldn't be alluring just because of one resource and two creatures. Such few reasons could be simply added to another map instead of making people download 20 GB worth another videogame. My main problem is, it totally overshadowed some Ragnarok's major features: Griffins and the Tuso trench. Don't get me wrong. Ragnarok is, and always will be a fan favorite, especially for base locations. Though, if you came from other map, you won't go to Ragnarok just for Griffins or Tusos as some years ago. It's easier in Crystal Isles and you can also get Tropeos, and polymer there too. Even the polymer at Valguero lakes got overshadowed. They could at least kept Ragnarok's exclusive creature as, you know, exclusive. But Ragnarok is not innocent in that aspect. We will talk about that later. I love they added exclusive types of Wyverns here. They don't overshadow Scorched Earth because they are different, so you have reasons to go to both maps! Oh, nevermind. I remembered Ragnarok and Valguero also have Wyverns. Still, Crystal Wyverns and a new exclusive boss (finally for a mod map!) are awesome. Don't get me wrong. I love mod maps, I literally fell in love with ARK by starting my adventures in a mod map. Though, in gameplay terms, once they get into the official scene, they are just there to get a resource, a creature, or to get more locations for bases. That last point is beautiful for multiplayer or roleplay, for sure. But still, the merge everything previously in the game idea brings some problems I'll elaborate. We could summarize it in: They totally overshadow other maps, plucking them and leaving them with no reasons to go there (should I mention Scorched Earth?), instead of bringing something new, so each map has actual and unique reasons and challenges to go there, besides of just new base locations, or making easier to get something that was pretty hard to get in other maps. Again, this is just my personal opinion. Fjordur is the worst example of this. It's an attempt to merge almost the whole game in a single map, in a Genesis 1 style. Should I say more? I only hope Wildcard don't keep all the stuff Fjordur is attempting to have. It'd overshadow several maps and features from the game. Fjordur is cool for a single map run or server, but adding it to officials with all the stuff it wants to have? Yikes. A not that bad scenario, but still bad: Wildcard removes most content and it gets alluring just because of a resource, the new 4 creatures and base locations. 7. Genesis: Part 1 I loved the bog, the ocean, the volcano and the moon biomes. They were something new to the game. Some of them are mindblowing the first time you get in there. Not to mention, new awesome creatures. Just 5 it's very little compared to other maps, but all of them are unique and awesome. The difficulty brings a brand new challenge for hardcore players. The problem? Biome division by teleporting the player. You aren't going to let me lie. Almost every ARK player hated that. It'd have been great to get the ocean biome as a huge majority of the map, with all the other biomes in small islands farly separated by the huge ocean (to avoid the always present huge landmass surrounded by water, and to make water creatures more valuable for transport and war, even if it's just by using Megachelons as aircraft carriers to help flyers to recover their energy). As for the moon, I have no idea, maybe waiting for Genesis 2? The map could have been awesome that way, even while I'd rather a single biome-themed map. Still I love it for the unique biomes, the unique creatures, and the challenge. 6. Genesis: Part 2 What can I say? Lore-wise, it's huge. It features a fairly big unique biome just like the way I love it, and a smaller one but awesome below that one. It fixes the teleport mistake featured in Genesis (and soon and sadly, in Fjordur too). And adds a friendlier zone in case you need it. And it does feature a brilliant way to add a space zone (unlike the way they added it in the Genesis 1). I loved the challenge in the first Genesis, but for a new player, there was no safe corner to rest a bit (unless you wait in the ocean biome isles, I guess?). Genesis 2 has a fairly large safe zone. Adds lots of end-game content. Rewards for reaching levels above 100 (finally). PvP content. PvE content. Brand new systems, as mutagen and meteorite resources (visually awesome). One problem for some players could be to start with an infinite Tek armor, but that can be disabled via server config. It also features agoraphobia and astrophobia, but it's not like ARK didn't feature thalassophobia before. (?) 5. The Island I love the bosses, the lore, and the first-timer feeling of discovery. Even if it just features tree-based real life biomes, it was new back in the day, and it's one of the most complete experiences in the game. Does someone remind exploring and realizing there was swamp or a snowy part for the first time? What about reaching the Tek Cave entrance for the first time? I know most of you loved that. I also met very good friends in there. It's beautiful as the first steps in your adventure. Anyway, once you get alpha (or alpha-ish) in your server, you'll go back there just to help newcomers, or to destroy them, lmao. At the end, everyone, specially OG players remember the prehistoric feeling here. I love the stuff Wildcard added in the other maps, but I know most of you loved that Turok or Dino Crisis feeling during their first time in The Island. I'd place The Center here if not because it lacks 2 of the 4 bosses The Island features, but I understand and support that Wildcard didn't want to overshadow The Island, and they never will. At least some exclusive creatures then? 4. Aberration | 3. Scorched Earth Don't get me wrong, I love modding community. Mods made me want to play on PC in the first place, and I haven't changed my gaming platform since then, just for the mods. I can't play without mods. Even I started to make some mods for my favorite games, like Minecraft, Project Zomboid, Civilization VI, among others. But some ARK mod maps break one crucial point ARK means in the first place: Adapt and survive. Aberration and Scorched Earth achieved that perfectly getting the whole map experience of survival focused ON THE MAP. Verticality, radiation, absense of flyers, absense of light. Heat (which also affects metal construction), absense of water, even worse periods of climate, absense of tech (sometimes). Yeah, those points make people hate Scorched Earth and Aberration (specially PvP people), I love them. The game is not just PvP. And even in real life's war, each side must adapt to the adversities wherever they fight. Do you remember Napoleon and Adolf failing to invade Russia during winter? You must prepare for that kind of dangers in some maps of ARK. That makes the game even better and more realistic. You have to take care not just of your enemies, but also the map! Yeah, the first Genesis had that, 5 times, but the teleport ruined most of it. Just imagine how beautiful survival would be if each biome was a separate map. Just imagining a map 100% focused on ocean and underwater survival makes me happy. Not just to get oil and pearls. Subnautica flashbacks, lmao. Or a map focused in space? Do I feel No Man's Sky vibes? I'd love a mod map about that kind of unique experiences and gameplay! All of this is what makes me dislike when a mod map adds lots of biomes, and the native creatures from other maps. You can avoid all the challenge from Scorched Earth and any reason to go there because you can find every single creature from the map in any mod map. All of them have a desert or a Wyvern Trench. Unless you really want a Phoenix, very badly. Anyway, more maps with deserts wouldn't be a bad thing, if they had their own creatures and survival systems instead of taking those from previous maps. Same with every other biome and creature from the game. I'm just glad at least Aberration kept its two main exclusives, Reapers and Rock Drakes. Until Genesis. (?) 2. Ragnarok I know what are you thinking. Didn't this guy just talk half the top about why biome-cluster mod maps break ARK's meaning? Well, yeah. But don't forget what I said about The Center. It's perfect as an alternative for The Island. Ragnarok also comes from that one or two biome era, and fulfills that role too, in a very pretty way under a cool viking and medieval theme. I'm not going to lie. This was the first map I played when I decided to play ARK, and I spent my first 400 hours there in a beautiful singleplayer game before I jumped into multiplayer. I also learned a lot of stuff there by playing solo, that made me a decent player to help my multiplayer tribes. And I don't have to talk about how awesome was to catch a Griffin for the first time, and old players know what that meant in Ragnarok before Crystal Isles. What's the problem? The Scorched Earth zone (and the Wyvern Trench). Once in Ragnarok, you don't have actual reasons to go to Scorched Earth, unless you really, really want a Phoenix. Scorched Earth got almost worthless because of that. You can get all the Scorched Earth stuff, without the Scorched Earth survival aspects I mentioned previously. And even if you are not geared up, if you are in danger because of the heat, just get into the river or into the ocean, or simply get your way into another biome, which is pretty easy, and you are done. That's kind of harder in the actual Scorched Earth. That makes Ragnarok a beautiful The Island alternative, but not a Scorched Earth alternative. It overshadows Scorched Earth. That last point would have sent Ragnarok to the top 7, but I have a lot of good memories there. Still, I understand why people love the "merge every biome" mod maps. I just think they don't fit the official experience. They are excellent for custom clusters and private expeciences. I also understand if it's because someone can't or don't want to get the DLCs. I totally understand it. They are also great for YouTube series, as those Nexxus and Syntac make. But please understand, under my personal opinion, they overshadow the other maps, and that breaks the balance and allure between official maps. 1. Extinction I got alpha there with my friends. Lots of memories. Our best base. Lots of lore. Several creatures from other maps, which you can only fight, not tame, so you have a cool challenge but you still have to go to the other maps to tame them. New, unique, exclusive creatures, all of them usefull. Titans. Best place to get Element. A unique biome, two if you count the wasteland. And in case you want, three mini-biomes (no teleport required). Yeah, the dangerous biomes have the same problem Ragnarok's desert has, you can simply get away into the city or the Sunken Forest, but if you want to get the best stuff, you have to get out of the city. In Ragnarok you can reach end-game stuff before you get into the desert. Just a single example of this, once in Exctincion my partner saved our lifes in the wasteland by making a pair of ghillie suits out of corrupted creatures and fiber in order to not to lose a drop during its final waves. That's the survival experiencie and challenge I love, just to quote a single example of it. If I had to say something bad about this map, is it plucked Scorched Earth, as if it needed to get even more plucked. Please Wildcard, I love you, but stop the bullying for Scorched Earth. Anyway, for unique stuff, survival, and because I never got bored there, Exintion is the best map in my opinion. Again, that's just my opinion. Feel free to share your insights! New to Console Ark - does the Cave Tame trick Work? Posted: 15 Mar 2022 09:09 AM PDT So I've played Ark on and off for years, but exclusively on the Mobile version. I started a playthrough on PS4 using the Ragnarok map (which is awesome) and I'm wondering if the cave tamed Araneo trick also works on PS4/Ragnarok? Like, you tame a spider in a cave and it will never aggro any cave creatures, and this makes artifact grinding super easy. Also, are there any other tips/advice specific to console that I should know anout? Thanks [link] [comments]
Does the supressor reduce damage? Posted: 15 Mar 2022 12:23 AM PDT We found a supressor in a drop but my friends said it'd reduce the damage of the weapon it's attached to, but didn't find anything online... Can you guys confirm this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Mar 2022 02:42 PM PDT Hey I havent played ark for a bit im on xbox my buddies on pc. we figured primitive plus would be the way to go since were looking for something that doesnt allow too much advancements. Posted: 14 Mar 2022 02:43 PM PDT (I wasn't sure whether to label this role play or discussion, hope I picked the right one…) Personally I think I'll go with Arctic myself. After all it's SOOOO CHILLY… Won't you keep me warm on these cold winters nights Darling…? ;) (teeheehee) I can definitely see Ocean being the premier 'honeymoon' biome of choice though… [link] [comments] |
