    Ark holding its own against much bigger games.

    There's 3 things missing from SE, and I think we all know them, and all want them.

    1. The endgame sucks. SE climaxes with a bossfight that reuses assets from the other bossfights, and doesn't let you ascend. So, just patch that. Have new tekgrams, prolly a structure, weapon and saddle like abb (we already have a wyvern saddle anyways). And then just either make another overseer fight in a sandy arena or make manticore give you ascension (maybe colored implant engravings to signify what difficulty?)
    2. Ice Wyverns. Iceys are referenced by the managarmr dossier to be in SE, but aren't. So the way to fix that? Throw them in the trench, or a cave. Boom, easy. Ice wyverns for all!
    3. And the least known, the unadded creature called 'The Hive'. Its an araneo sized creature with divits in which wasp like creatures sit. It could be a really neat defense/support tame, releasing its swarm to fight things. Hell, I think it was textured. If not, I dunno, throw it on the back burner.

    Really, we just need that final bit of polish on SE, and I think we'd all appreciate it.

    New S+ Tekgrams only available From Island Bosses

    Rag dragon/Center Brood and Megapithicus do not currently give the new S+ tekgrams. Just an FYI, not sure if intentional or not.

    PSA: Tek Storage and gacha crystals do not get along right now

    Put gacha crystals in tek storage and when I removed them the crystals were then empty. No resources were given when I consumed them.

    It's hard, if not impossible, to keep gamers happy. They're excited about the game that the devs build, but boy, they can be rough on the devs.
    Every time I climb on the back of an allosaurus for a ride, or crack open a metal node with an ankylosaurus, I'm thankful. What a great place to hang out, even if the pegos steal my stuff. As much as I hate the ichthyornis, how cool is it to be able to pluck one out of the sky with a revolver. Are there annoyances? Sure! I'm still pissed about that titanosaur crushing my favorite base into goo, and killing 150+ tames. lol Oh well, that's survival for ya. I grew up dreaming of dinosaurs. Getting to play with them in this world has been a blast. Thanks, dev team at WC!

    they added a note in the comments saying it hard to fix but there targeting a driver end of this month

    Ark's fix is being targetted for a driver later on in the month, it was already made public that it is not a easy fix and the change needed requires a longer QA period to be sure no issues manifest.

    Why go back on your word? As of right now this is not the case and all the kentro kibble I had prior to patch is useless lol.

    Regarding previously crafted kibble:

    • Old kibbles will not be wiped, and will inherit their new "value/color" appropriately.
    • Old kibbles will still work to tame their appropriate creatures.
    • Old kibble will no longer be craftable, only the new types will be craftable.

    Constant crashing after small update today.

    My GF plays on the Xbox version on the PC and had the major update yesterday, but today she crashed and then it required a small update to extection to play and now the client has been crashing on loading the server. After a little testing, it's only crashing extention map, any ideas?

    Why do you need extraordinary kibble to tame Thyla?

    WC really rate Thylas that highly t hat they want it that much hard to tame it using kibble?

    I mean thylas are pretty decent mount, but i wouldn't put them on the extraordinary list.

    They should have been included in the superior kibble tier in my opinion.

    Strange freezing after patch.

    This wasn't happening before but whenever a large structure goes out of render my game literally freezes for several seconds. This has basically made certain parts of the map unplayable due to the player bases there. I have good system that was running the game just fine last patch and am wondering if anyone else developed issues this patch.

    My specs are i5 9600k with 16Gb of ram and a Rtx2080, so there's no good reason my game should be freezing for over 3 seconds when its getting rid of rendered things as I leave their range.

    Have your S+ buildings disappeared? Read this

    If S+ stops running it will cause your S+ buildings to disappear. If you get this issue you need to act fast, but it can be resolved.

    Tl:dr: - Copy your .ark backups somewhere safe, make sure you have one from before S+ install went wrong/you started single player without it - Get S+ installed properly - Restore the backup

    The first thing you need to do is backup your backups ASAP while you try and fix this so they are not overwritten by new backups with the S+ buildings missing. This can happen on servers which take regular automatic backups, and on Single player if you start the game.

    Your backups can be found in Steamapps. Common. Ark.shootergame. Save(s) (SavedArksLocal for Single player). IMPORTANT: Download or copy all the dated .Ark files for the map of concern.

    The next thing is to make sure S+ is running.

    In Single player, it's probably been removed from the active mods list, either because you disabled another mod (🤨) or the latest S+ update has not been successful.

    On a server, it's probably because the latest S+ update was not successful. Stop your server. Check the Content/Mods folder for S+'s mod Id and delete both the folder and the .mod file. Then try and reinstall. This may not work, you may need to use a mod installer or Remote Ark Server, but you'll have to sort that out with your server provider.

    In Single player, you might need to unsubscribe and re-subscribe, restart Steam, restart your PC, and stand on one leg.

    Once you have successfully installed S+, it's time to restore from a backup. This needs to be from before S+ disappeared from the server, or in the case of Single player, before you started playing the game without S+.

    To restore, upload or copy your selected backup to the saved folder. Delete (or rename) the non dated .ark file for your map (eg Extinction.ark) and then rename the backup you want to restore to Extinction.ark.

    Start your server again, or start Single player ensuring that S+ is active.

    If on your server, S+ does not load when you load the game, your Extinction.ark file is now corrupt. Burn it with fire and repeat the process above. This is why it's important to make sure you get uncorrupted backups and store them locally so you can re upload. You'll probably notice a significant size difference between backups taken when your S+ was active and when it wasn't, because the buildings will not be there.

    Hope this helps.

    Let me know if you're stuck, I've just successfully resolved this issue on my server, it was a massive PITA

    Dimorph preferred kibble not working

    So this has been a bug since the beta branch and it appears to have carried over without being fixed. Not sure how something like this slips under the devs radar. Please fix soon!

    As far as I know there is no fix for this that the player can do.

    Are there any good guides out there for higher levels?

    I'm pretty new to the game so I've checked out a few guides, but they only seem to cover the basics. I'm pretty good up until level 50 but where do I go from there? How do electronics work? Whats the best way to get all the 'new' materials, like oil and electronic parts?

    I've tried watching playthroughs but they either seem to rush through everything (it's not a tutorial I guess) or completely skip over the Boring parts (the bits I don't know).

    Any advice is appreciated :)

    That there's no glass tier. Just the week before the patch I actually tried to make a proper big base, huge walls and structures and everything (usually I've neglected this aspect and just made a bunch of foundations with smithys and fabricators and stuff on it.) I found I really loved the glass tier, as well as all the different models and shades of the walls. In the end, my base looked like a giant terrarium filled with dinosaurs and a castle, and it was pretty awesome.

    I was considering getting rid of the S+ mod once homestead was updated, but after realizing the glass tier wasn't ported over I'm seriously reconsidering. Seriously, wildcard could even just give the strength and models to the greenhouse structures if they don't want to port an entire new tier over.

    ....Well, that and the transfer gun. Man, will it be hard to give up that transfer gun.

    I really don't feel like stealing fertilized eggs from wild drakes and wyverns. I'm not even on maps where drakes and wyvs are. But I got a bunch of tamed wyvs and drakes.

    Why are new s+ tek engrams ALREADY NOT UNLOCKED if we ALREADY did bosses required to unlock them????

    It says in IMPLANT on each character which bosses we defeated, so why doesnt game recognize that? Why we have to do same bosses again to unlock new engrams?????

    Are there any benefits to using the new vanilla structures over S+?

    Do we know if S+ (mod) will continue to be developed beyond what the dev's have made vanilla?

    Just asking because we're trying to decide if we should wipe the server, or just hold out for a fix for the snapping issue which is affecting our server.

    Extraordinary Kibble Suggestion

    Simple suggestion for extraordinary kibble: Allow snails to lay these eggs. Snails require veggie cakes to tame and maintain, so they aren't something a beach bob can easily obtain. At the same time, they do not require their own kibble to tame. They are found on all maps. Most importantly, they are inherently useful as it is. They passively produce cementing paste and organic polymer, meaning there is strong incentive to tame them even before eggs are factored in. As a bonus, their compact nature means they do not take much in the way of space.

    If not extraordinary, I would recommend them for exceptional, which would also benefit from their presence.

    I would also consider dung beetles a candidate for this purpose. However, the comparative ease of taming and maintaining them (as they only require feces) makes me hesitant to suggest them, even if they share all of the other traits that make snails a desirable candidate.

    Failing this, I would consider modifying Hesperornis requirements for laying golden eggs. IIRC, a 150 Thylaco would require the death of somewhere around 375 fish before enough kibble was obtained to tame it. Roughly halving that would not be unreasonable, I think.
