    Shortest Path to a Negative One Dino?

    So I was thinking about negative one dinos and wondered what the shortest path was to get one. The lowest number of generations I figure I can get one starting from 0 mutation is 37/38 generations.

    Basic idea I was going for was to create a -2147483648 and a 2147483647, however when I broke out the good old calculator in programmer mode I realized it would be shorter to take advantage of the nature of binary numbers so I ended up with this:

    * Keep the offspring of this generation to breed with a later generation.

    As you can see for the most part it uses the standard breed children of the same generation together to double the mutation counter. With execptions coming in the 0th, 2nd, 5th, 10th, 19th and 36th pairings. What this means is that you only absolutlely need to keep 3-6 dinos at a time the current parents, the children, and the resulting offspring from the last breeding exception to occur. Seven if you count the clean male that you started from. Point is it is an extremely manageable amount, even if you don't have cryopods, in comparison to keeping at least one from each generation if you don't start from zero or just went 1,2,4,8,16, ... -2147483648 and tried to use previous generations to add back up to -1.

    So yeah the quickest I can see to possibly reach a negative one dino is 37/38 generations. Love to know if there is any faster way outside of mods. But even this probably drops about a dozen generations that other methods I know of require.

    flying creatures should have a grounded combat AI option

    I'm so tired of whistling my ice wyvern to kill something to only see it struggle on an easy kill. these flying circles just don't get the job done. An option to keep the flying creatures grounded even when told to attack would be a nice addition to the game

    Pretty simple, I mean. The title says most of it. I have mostly played ark solo - used to doing everything solo - and the odd times I have joined another, or had others join me it seems they never play in the US TZ.

    I'm a big fan of teaming up and getting some things going. Raiding. Taming. Breeding. (yea I know pvp, extinction servers it all goes away etcetc) But still, hell why not right.

    I also like the idea of Small Tribes. And I'm open to those as well. Not even sure if people really play ark much anymore, aside from BOB's who stop playing, and the [][][][][][][] teams :).

    Let me know. Far too often I see the USTZ no being the powerhouse on a server. Lets change that.

    Questions regarging official servers "PvP" (like on the attached video)

    Hello, I was browsing youtube to understand how PvP works on official ARK servers, and was quite baffled to see what's going on there. I would like to understand the logic and motivation and mechanics behind "PvP" (I would rather offline griefing) like on this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo7SoA7KPaI

    What's happening there - setup is all on official servers, everything seems to be happening "offline" the enemy tribe is not there to fight. In short: attacking tribe is using some glitch / hack using frame quetz to get inside a huge tek base, find cryofridges full of extremely strong dinos, vaults that contain description of what is where, after they steal what they want, they destroy everything else using c4 they found in vault that was full of it, kill everyone, and kill all dinos, including passives and leave the huge base which is now empty.

    Now my questions

    • Why is using such hacks allowed and tolerated on officials?
    • How could the victim tribe on officials amased these items? They had enormous amount of high-end dinos lvl 350+ full vaults of tek stuff and high end best quality items, each of them requiring thousands of polymer / hide etc to create, in total probably millions of polymer etc. needed to create that? I assume this had to take years to gather and craft on official servers?
    • Why the victim tribe had so poor defense? Someone who has so much should probably have some clue how to defend themselves?
    • Why the victim tribe had so much dinos in cryopods, why is this even used on so high scale? Frozen dinos are even easier to destroy than passives and what's worse - the enemy can literally steal them, now they belong to their enemy? Why use cryofridges at all?
    • What's the point of having all these vaults with signs of what is where? So that enemy knows which one to focus on? Why even have vaults full of valuable items, when they can be raided so easily in few minutes?
    • Why did they kill and wipe all other passive dinos? What's the point?
    • If it takes year(s) to gather all this stuff, and less than hour to lose everything, isn't there some serious balancing issue in the game?

    Honestly, I wouldn't even consider this "PvP", there are players only on one side, the other team is literally offline, and all they fight are passive tames, that's even easier than PvE. Also, it seems to me that whole point of this, was not to have fun or some PvP action, but to seriously piss off someone and ruin their life, by destroying possibly years of work and forcing them to quit the game for good. If someone is having fun by doing that, they are IMHO sick psychopaths.

    I know some people might remark that if I don't like this kind of stuff happening, I should be playing PvE or not on officials (I actually play on private cluster as well as officials), but I am really just trying to understand how this all works and how is that fun.

    I play only in small tribe (2 people) and while getting constantly wiped for no reason became an ARK classic in past few years, I don't expect to ever amass this amount of stuff like the tribe which lost it there in the video, I am just trying to understand how is this all even possible (to gather so much stuff without cheating or hacking and how it's possible to wipe them in few minutes)

    Narcotic gone?

    So, I made Narcotic in my base, then I left it, went to some trees for wood. When I came back all of my narcotic (40x) were gone? Am I supposed to wait in the base while the Narcotic is made or is it a glitch?

    Change Dino Spawn Rates on Nitrado

    G'day! Brand new ARK server owner (and reddit user) here!

    So far things have been pretty smooth with my server, and if there are issues I have been able to figure out how to fix it. I have a modded Aberration world for my community, however someone pointed out that there was an issue with the corrupted reaper spawn on the surface.

    I went to check it out, and there is just a sea of reapers.

    For those who want to play ARK on PC but your PC can’t run it too well...

    Note that YOU NEED TO OWN THE GAME IN YOUR STEAM LIBRARY FOR THIS TO WORK! I don't know if gameshare'd copies will work.

    Basically, there's a program that you can sign up for called NVIDIA GeForce Now. It's a streaming service that basically lets you play your game with whatever graphic settings you want, at 60 frames per second. From what I can tell, it works by you logging in to your steam account via one of many servers that they host, where you can then play the game you want.

    Since I think it logs you into a different server each time you boot up the game/your steam account via the launcher, it'll make you redownload your mods each time.

    And if you happen to want to play on a modded ARK server, you'll need to boot up steam first, add the mod server's IP to your favorites via steam, download the ark mods, then attempt to join via the steam server browser. This is because whenever you close out of a game it'll disconnect you from that server, and if you try to play it again you'll just end up connecting to a different one.

    EDIT: I forgot to mention, but you'll also want a good internet connection when playing. As it's a streaming service, it'll change the resolution (how blurry/pixelated everything is) to make sure the game runs smoothly.

    Snow Owl alt key reassigned do not know what key?

    I have a snow owl now but my alt key is reassigned to something else. Trying to figure out what the alt key was originally so I can find out how to do that ice move. Never done this before. Anyone have a picture of the default assigned keys? An actual pic plz wiki page on controls was to confusing.

    SE smalltribes PvP base locations

    I want to play more SE as it's the one map I haven't played on much.

    Assuming I have complete timezone coverage and a full 6 man tribe, what are a few good spots for a medium sized base that isnt reachable by titans? I know about church cave but ice noticed that shockist just loves wiping those and it seems like he has no problem doing it. Any other locations I can check out?

    PC ORP PVP Searching For Tribemates

    Hello everyone!

    I recently struck out from a larger tribe on an EU PVP ORP (PC) server cluster. So far this tribe has me, the tribe leader, and one other member so far but we are looking to grow.

    We are not starting with nothing, but we are by no means alpha material yet, haha. We are starting on Scorched Earth because it is relatively dead, allowing us to build up in relative peace. We do want to pvp of course but we are not bloodthirsty - if you just want to attack everyone you see, this is not the tribe for you. Raids are carefully planned and planning may take weeks or even months. I'm looking for others who are in it for the long haul.

    We are looking for members who are capable of speaking, writing, and understanding English (we just cannot afford info to get lost in translation, we do welcome others from other countries and we want different timezones, but we do need to be able to communicate, sorry!), using discord, and using ARK Smart Breeder, and who are looking to establish a permanent presence on the server cluster.
