I'm the developer of Dododex, the ARK companion app. AMA Posted: 09 May 2020 02:54 PM PDT Hi! I'm Dan Leveille, the developer of Dododex, the companion app for iOS and Android. I've been building Dododex for four years. I've been getting a lot of questions and suggestions about Dododex on Reddit, so I thought I'd do an AMA. Feel free to ask anything about Dododex, what's coming, what you'd like to see, what goes into building the app, or anything! :) [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 09 May 2020 07:19 PM PDT As I'm sure your all aware the Quetzalcoatlus was a massive animal. But the true grandure of this animal surprised even me so I'd like to share. The most recent estimates for the size of the Quetz show it as having a wingspan about 39 feet long, and a landed height about as tall as a Giraffe. Weight estimates are much harder to guess, being anything from 150lbs to 550lbs. But those aren't the craziest numbers (though, if Im to be honest, the thought of a giraffe flying is a bit crazy) Estimates for the Quetz's top speed are around 80 miles per hour, and at altitudes of up to 15,000 feet. Even crazier still is that it's theorized flight time is about 7-10 DAYS. Thats right, this thing could fly at 80 mph at 15,000 feet for 10 days, WITHOUT LANDING! Estimates as to the range it could cover during that flight time range from 8,000 to 12,000 miles. For reference the US is 2800 miles wide and the Earth's Circumference is about 25,000 miles. So basically imagine an animal the size of a giraffe literally jumping into the air, and reaching it's cruising altitude of 15,000 feet and speeds of 80mph, then proceeding to fly halfway across the Earth in a single flight over the course of 10 days.
