Those who think Gen 2 is very easy, it makes lot of sense lore wise (possible spoiler)

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 08:38 PM PDT

Ok, So as we know, new Gen 2 dinos are very op, Like Maewing,Stryder,Shadowmane, Noglin But the thing is it is intentional because they are supposed to help survivors to reform the society on other planet, plus Maewing and Stryder are not much Aggressive while Shadowmane could be a result of Rockwell, there are easy plant species X, Egg incubator to get more dinos, Strong dinos like Reaper to fight off local civilisation if any

PSA about Tek gear on Genesis 2

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:49 PM PDT

So, the tek gear you spawn with on Genesis 2 has benefits and drawbacks. On the positive side, you spawn with it and it doesn't require fuel, but on the negative, it has low armor and I'm pretty sure doesn't give the insulation buff basic tek armor does.

I was curious as a result how standard tek gear functions on Genesis 2 as a result. I'm a big fan of feeling like iron man, so having decent protection AND infinite fuel would be nice. I spawned in a tek chest piece in singleplayer to find out. Here is what I did, and what I found:

I unequipped the federation tek chest and equipped the spawned chest. On jumping, I was informed about the jet pack requiring element. I equipped the Genesis 2 chronicles skin and nothing changed. Defeated, I went to reequip the federation tek chest armor. That's when I noticed that the normal tek armor was highlighted blue, as if I had selected a skin (and to be clear, I had not. This was not the Genesis chronicles skin mentioned earlier). So I applied the federation chest to the normal tek armor. The tek armor was now called federation tek armor, but had a significantly higher armor rating to match the standard equipment. When I equipped it, I found that I could use the jet pack with no element fuel, just like the equipment I spawned with. I could even remove the "skin" armor to separate them, like normal.

    Findings (also, TLDR):

At least in singleplayer, normal tek armor 1. Does not have infinite fuel 2. Will not be altered in functionality by applying the Genesis chronicles skin, despite the name and appearance changing. 3. WILL be altered in functionality, gaining the stats of tek armor and the infinite fuel of federation armor, by applying the armor you spawn with to normal tek armor like a skin.

I don't know how this might affect things like the insulation buff, but it seemed like a useful tip that I at least wasn't aware of.

Is it just me or have flyers become more glitchy?

Twice now my tames got stuck in the air because they ran out of stamina and refused to land. Hasn't happened before the update.

MORE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS: WildCard has apparently taken the Nintendo Switch servers down with no warning and radio silence. The Switch version of ARK, only having the Island map, was released two and a half years ago and has not had a single update since release. Still sells for $50 on e-shop.

Playstation 4 ark genesis 2 performance

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:50 PM PDT

Is anyone able to really play right now? My playstation is just a couple months old and it feels like I'm getting lag every few seconds on genesis 2. I mean I can't complete the missions in genesis 1 for the same reason.

    Bloodstalker bugged?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 03:57 PM PDT

I play on Xbox (with k+m) and since genesis 2 has come out my bloodstalker's webs are completely invisible until I break them (upon which I see a flash of the web) is there anyway to fix this? Bloodstalker is my favourite tame and is nigh unusable as well as looking strange to use without webs.

How aggro are the PvP servers? Is it feasibly to survive solo or with a small party? Or if I log off can I expect to lose my dinos?

The dossiers (and possibly other HLNA Exp. Notes) seem to work one time, and one time only, on Genesis 2, even when using a new character.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 06:13 PM PDT

Has anyone else experienced this? When I tested the map in creative mode and summoned the new creatures in, HLNA unlocked a dossier where she told a little about them. However after I erased that map data and character to play Genesis fresh, I'm not unlocking the little dossiers after taming the new creatures anymore. They even appear as locked in my explorer's note, showing that I've found them in the past but not with this current character/world.

Not a huge deal but kind of annoying for someone who's trying to be all completionisty like I am.

    Comprehensive Gen2 Mission Loot Guide

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 08:12 PM PDT

Back in Gen1 when I was still playing, I threw together a spreadsheet for the mission loot system and offered some suggestions.

I've updated that spreadsheet with a tab for Gen2:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1e1icUS7LDJc4aCfPWD3UgBuEAvbswQfM9a-R1pr0i_E/edit#gid=2118953679

Here are a bunch of notes regarding Missions and how loot functions on Gen2:

    • There are common drops and RNG pool drops. Common drops are based off of the spreadsheet and indicate the likely items to show up in your rewards for completing the mission. The RNG Pool is a very large pool encompassing most / all items in the game, and the mission will also pull from this list and give you a few randoms in addition to the commons.

    • Common drops for a mission tend to be higher in item quality than the RNG pool drops.

    • You can loot both Precrafteds and Blueprints (with one exception below)

    • Rewards are based on difficulty tier completed and are cumulative, in that Alpha can reward anything in the common table from Beta/Gamma but Beta/Gamma do not have access to Alpha's special RNG Pool

    • Alpha tier unlocks a unique RNG Pool that includes Tek items. What this means is that while you will find a consistent frequency of the Tek common drops linked to the Alpha completion of a given mission, you may also loot random Tek items from the RNG Pool. The RNG Pool seems to encompass basically every Tek item in the game, from Armor, Weapons, Saddles and Mek Modules.

    • ALL Tek Saddles are available as loot in the RNG Pool and we've seen them scale as high as 180 Armor. This includes Rex, Tapejara, Mosa, Shark, Rock Drake, Space Dolphins and Whales. The exception I mentioned above is that you can ONLY loot these as precrafted and cannot seem to loot them as blueprints. (I'd like to point out this is based on my current data pool, which is quite large, but it's certainly possible I am wrong.) Tek Dolphin saddles from the OSDs in the open world can spawn as blueprints, as well as drop as blueprints from the missions, however. This seems to be a unique case and I assume it's something to do with them being new and introduced on this map.

    • There is a varying degree of total drops per mission and item quality based on the type of mission in question. The Dungeon run missions seem to give slightly less overall items as a reward, but the avg item quality is VERY high, higher in fact than anything I've ever seen in the game previous to this.

    • The Alpha version of a mission has a chance to offer better item quality versions of items found in the Gamma / Beta tiers, but keep in mind that by extending the loot table to include more common items introduced with the Alpha pool, you're actually lowering your odds to focus target a specific item found in those lower tiers. For example, Flak Chest BPs are found in Beta Maewing KO missions, and you'll loot more of them on a more frequent basis in Beta, but you'll have a lower chance to get a higher quality one in Alpha.

FEEDBACK: This is exactly the kind of loot system I'd always wanted. Back in my Gen1 post, I'd offered a ton of suggestions to improve the system, and I'm happy to say almost every single one of those suggestions was implemented here. I have no idea if my post had any influence on this, but if it did, thank you for listening.

There are some items in this that are regretfully too powerful for PVP balance, such as high armor Tek saddles and overpowered Mek modules (I've seen a shield module with 75 armor as a blueprint) but with tweaking a lot of this can probably be fixed.

Either way, this current system accomplishes all of the following:

    • Rewards you for attempting the higher difficulties by offering unique items exclusive to Alpha.

    • Gives you a reason to re-farm missions to hunt for the rare drops a'la Tek saddles etc

    • Has a more comprehensive overall list covering most / all of the bases (its basically complete when combined with the OSD drops) meaning nothing on the map is left out.

All in all, I just want to say that when it comes to the missions in Gen2... bravo. This was executed brilliantly. I think the overall balance, replayability and fun factor of these is amazing. The dungeon missions are legitimately fun to do. I love it all and I'm glad this game went out with a bang on the final map. No complaints.

EDIT: Due to popular request, I've added a full spreadsheet of the Crate loot at the bottom of the sheet. Enjoy!
