No Dodos on Island or Aberration - Is it a Mod Conflict? Posted: 05 Mar 2022 01:12 AM PST I started my current set of servers in the middle of last year, and added some new mods I hadn't used before, starting a new character. I usually play alone, but rarely get company from a friend, and I prefer running dedicated servers over doing a single player game. My mods and server settings are designed to allow me to actually make reasonable progress with this set up, and my goal is to progress through each map in release order. Though some of the mods are obviously just for fun. However, in neither the Island nor Aberration have I seen dodos since an early mod shift, but that was a very long time ago. As I'm trying to tame breeding pairs of everything, my plans do require Dodos and Aberrant Dodos. I mod almost every game I play, but I'm not very experienced in fixing mod conflicts in ARK, so I thought I'd ask here for help, if this issue is something others have had happen to them. Tonight we take on the Tek Cave! Posted: 04 Mar 2022 10:24 AM PST Playing on the Island with my partner. We've never attempted the tek cave before. The wiki says there are some navigation hazards for unmounted dinos (lava pits are the worst!) and that tamed dinos left in the cave after the boss fight die. How to be successful when playing "no flyers" on a big map like lost island? I want to do all the caves and get all the artifacts. Single player. Posted: 05 Mar 2022 04:53 AM PST I really like ground/water travel in ark. I prefer it over flying. But how can I do all the caves/artifacts on lost island without a flyer (including no maewing or simonacrops), logistically speaking? It's such a big map. Should I establish a main base somewhere (near lots of resources) then take a raft to somewhere near the artifact cave, establish a smaller base, then proceed to the cave from there? PvP tips? Posted: 04 Mar 2022 04:04 PM PST So, I'm trying out PVP for the first time. I'm on an unofficial server, so it's not as brutal, but I'm still pretty scared haha. Someone gave me a L100 lightning wyvern and a 100 argy, so that's a start. I tried to hide myself the best I could. I'm on lost island and I'm wedged in some rocks; you wouldn't see me from the sky. Annoying updates Posted: 04 Mar 2022 08:49 AM PST Whenever ARK gets a minor update that takes roughly 5 minutes to download and install, you have to wait for another whole hour or more because steam has to transfer each and every single game file. Supply Crate Beam/Beacon not chaning beam/beacon Posted: 04 Mar 2022 06:18 AM PST Hey guys, I have had this issues for many months now, ever since some update hit my supply crates only emit the same beam the whole time: the dropping beam. Normally a supply drop should have the lightning orb beam (dropping beam) while being lowerde to the ground (dropped) and then change to more of a ray beam (dropped beam). However when ever I play on any server it doesnt change to the dropped beam, for my friends on the same server however, it does. I have attached to screenshots, showing an example of the beam, not chaning. I've seen posts saying its possible and posts saying it isn't possible to transfer flyers to Aberration, but most of them are years old. So, is it possible? And if so, how? OP and UP dinos? Posted: 03 Mar 2022 07:31 PM PST Just wondering what dinos you would consider being overpowered and what dinos you would consider underpowered. Can be for PVE or PVP. Personally… OP: Maewing. It just has so much going for it, it can glide, it can swim, has the same HP as a Spino, it can lay every type of egg imaginable further helped by its lack of gender meaning you don't need to hunt for specific genders in order to breed them and is such an amazing tool for mass breeding dinos since it can feed babies. They far outclass the Oviraptor and Kangaroo who both serve similar niches. Giga: As if its attack and ability to damage stone wasn't monstrous enough, it is one of the if not the fastest land dino in all of ARK, no outrunning a Giga. Tuso: Better than the Mosa in virtually every way on top of not being vulnerable to a tiny f*cking jellyfish. Rock Drake: Basically a Rex but if a Rex could climb, glide and turn invisible. Dire Wolf: Kinda a weird one because when tamed they aren't really all that great since the poor pathfinding makes it frustrating to manage a pack, but wild Dire Wolves are insanely OP capable of killing essentially anything in the Wild that isn't a Giga. Snow Cave Dires are even more ridiculous dealing DPS in the thousands. Jellyfish: Their dismount and stun allows them to sometimes even solo things far above their weight and power class like Mosas and Plesis, they single handedly invalidate every aquatic mount that isn't a Basil or Tuso for cave traversal as it takes just one to completely and utterly disable a mount. Combine that with how common they are and yeah… Dear lord are these thing broken. UP: Compy: Worst shoulder pet, abysmal HP and hard to tame early game since it only eats Prime meat. Pelagornis: Just use a raft for fishing. Organic Polymer weight reduction doesn't work. Pachycephalosaurus: Raptor but slow and weak with no pack buff nor any unique ability at all to make it viable. Trike: I thought these guys IRL were supposed to have adapted to living with Rexes, clearly not in ARK judging how a Raptor can solo a whole herd. Slow, weak and completely and utterly outclassed by Stegos. Manta: Abysmal HP, hard to maneuver and outclassed by every single aquatic mount in the entire game. Hlna voice feels depressing Posted: 03 Mar 2022 08:25 AM PST I have been playing genesis for months attempting to get use to her new voice before finally muting her. It feels too depressing to do missions and hear that sad voice lamely tell me i got this. I miss her happier personality, or whatever it was. It felt more light hearted and fun. This one is just so bland and normal, sometimes way too serious. I can't even find any mods that restore her original lines so that really sucks. I feel alone now and it changes the game for me hugely, it's not very enjoyable. What’s the funniest thing that happened to you in ark? Posted: 03 Mar 2022 11:53 AM PST For me, probably when I searched high and low for a spino. Found one, started to tame with no trap. He hit a stego while attacking us, and then ran, passed out, and we ran over to tame. Then the stego came over and beat him to death before we could do anything. I should build traps like a normal person. Also, the first time I had an epic battle with a turtle, I had almost won and my wife had to flee to heal. I've heard about meteorites but only one? (Extinction) Posted: 03 Mar 2022 01:30 PM PST So I just started playing Extinction yesterday and I have heard about how meteorite showers are dangerous and are common (In the wastelands) but how come I have only been seeing one every couple of minutes? Is there anywhere safe from meteorites?
