You think they're setting up turrets?

The fact that the insect swarms (which are actually called Razor Wasps) don’t have any actual use other than obtaining resources from them is disappointing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely in the crowd of "These things are fucking awful and I'd literally rather deal with Troodons than to see the text YOU ARE BEING TARGETED BY AN INSECT SWARM ever again", but it just feels like a wasted opportunity that these are nothing more than a (major) nuisance.

Like, the ark devs went out of their way to give them a sick fucking design and even a Mysterious Mysteries teaser...

So here's a proposal, maybe as a mod or something, on how they could be used - and weaponized!

    THE BLADEWASP HIVE

First off, this would function EXTREMELY similar, if not absolutely identical, to the existing Giant Bee Hives. The wild ones would function like so:

    • They spawn attached to large, static (non-destroyable) trees and rocks.

    • If you get too close to one, it'll spawn an Insect Swarm. If you leave it's targeting radius (which is bigger than the initial aggro radius), then they'll leave you alone and return to the hive.

    • Destroying a hive will spawn multiple insect swarms, as well as the Blade Wasp Queen.

The Blade Wasp Queen has a similar taming process to the Giant Bee Queen - you must passive tame her using Blood Bags. However, get too close and she'll directly attack you.

Once tamed, you can turn the Blade Wasp Queen into a static Blade Wasp Hive of your very own!

The tamed Hives would function like so:

    • They must be fed using materials such as Sap, Blood Bags, and/or Rare Flowers.

    • You can set it to spawn "tamed" Insect Swarms that home in on enemies when the Hive is aggro'd, whether it is attacked or an enemy gets too close.

    • The Hive can be set to target players, tames, and/or wild animals.

    • Each tamed Hive will spawn up to three Insect Swarms at a time, and will spawn more to maintain this limit if any Swarms are killed.

    • Each spawned Swarm is functionally identical to the wild Insect Swarms, in both HP, damage, and the stamina drain debuff.

In other words... it's a brand new turret!
