Animals I have tamed ranked from easiest to hardest difficulty. Almost all are tamable and when you have your own companions you'd be proud.

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 08:08 AM PDT

Moschops(Tame super fast with berries almost instantly but at the cost of being cowardly weaklings)

Dodos(Argueably the easiest knock out tames that require a handful of berries. Great for taming practice and beginner guardian when you have nothing else. Get killed easily alone but last longer in large flocks)

Dilophosaurus(Quick and easy tame that pose threat to knockout)

Lystrosaurus(Take longer to passively feed with slight chance of interference)

Ichthyosaurus(Easy to tame but not that easy to keep alive. Great for aqua travel)

Parasaurolophus(Just bola and knock out, that simple)

Peligornis(See Parasaur, and both can be found on Herbivore Island)

    Pteranodon(Need drugs but otherwise easy)

Phiomia(See Parasaur and Peligornis, but they're slightly harder because of where they live)

Iguanodon(bola and knock out, watch out for Utahraptors)

Paraceratherium(You must find them without a herd and since they run slow it's easy to knock them out)

Brontosaurus(Super easy to tame for their sheer power but take flipping forever to feed and low levels require nearly 80 arrows)

Ankylosaurus(They live in dangerous territory but can be easily contained. Otherwise slow runners that can be tamed with berries and some drugs if you don't have kibble or balm. Just go to Herbivore Island for them, that's where I found my max level)

Utahraptor(need to find one alone first, then knock them out while immobile)

Argentavis(They are predators seen as prey and live in dangerous areas. You'll find that prime meat or balm will help greatly with them for this reason. I have tamed three during my entire ARK days, first at the Red Peak, second at the Grand Hills and third at the Northwestern plains which was the easiest. As long as there are no predators, they fly slow and can be knocked out easily. Have a Stegosaurus with you to defend from other predators.)

Deodocuris(Pose same issues as Ankylosaurus. Predator interference is an issue and takes a while to tame)

Arthropleura(You need repellant but they tame very quickly with spoiled meat if you can find them. They're considerably easier on mobile since you can teleport them out but I heard on PC they get stuck in caves)

Araneomorphus(Material for bug repellant is hard to get but once you do you just passively tame spoiled meat and you can build a spider army if you want)

Triceratops(Just tranq and feed then you got a bulldozer)

Onyc(Straightforward but if you touch them they all swarm you, so have repellant)

Carbonemys(They're common but difficult for beginners to tame which sucks because of the convenient tanks they make. If you don't have tranqs you can suffer great injury and taming takes forever)

Dimorphodon(The effort is finding them alone in a relatively safe area)

Megaloceras(You can find them in parts of the Redwoods without danger and knock them out))

Pachycephalosaurus(Quite weak but easy to tame in grasslands)

Beelzebufo(Difficulty is in their habitat. If you don't have an Argentavis it's tough but you can go to empty grass areas near the swamps and bola one. They'll go ignored by predators till tamed so be ready)

Stegosaurus(Even with a few tranqs you can take them out)

Casteroides( If you get lucky you'll find one already tranqed by a Titanoboa near the swamp. They're straightforward with occasional predator interference and you need ridiculous amount of biotoxin and berries in a few hundreds to keep them asleep. Confirm that the target is alone.)

Sarcosuchus(Find one near beaches and tranq them)

Pulmanoscorpius(easy to tame but the difficulty is in their dangerous homes. Put your mind to it and you can game an army of scorpions)

Tyrannosaurus(If you can find one in a grassland all you do is tranq them while taking their blows on a mount. They are slow too)

Baryonyx(You can find one near a river to tame and tranq them from a cliff or by taking their blows. But they run super fast so bolas will come in handy. Torpor is decent but they only eat fish meat.)

Direbear(It's because of how strong they are I would reccomend a Stegosaurus as a tame mount to take their blows and they also run fast when torpor is high. Come prepared with a ton of drugs to keep them asleep)

Karposuchus(immense difficulty with where they live but worth having another guardian)

Smilodon(Need to trap them first and it's easy from then)

Carnotaurus(Similar to Baryonyx but a little tougher. They don't run as fast but you need to still corner them at rocks or trees to finish them)

Archeopteryx(They're ranked high because of their dangerous home and rarity, but otherwise you bola them and feed chitin for a living parachute)

Diplodocus(For the effort and time needed to tame and all the predators that attack them. Completely useless for anything other than carrying weight))

Terror Bird(They live in large packs but you can knock them out after trapping. Torpor drops unbelievably fast so you can't loose guard for a second)

Spinosaurus(A lot easier than people will think, if you can take their blows with a mount you can tranq them in the face. The problem is that they will run for life super fast so find an area with rocks and cliffs like in the Southern Isles next to the Lower South Cave. Fast torpor drop so prime meat will help)

Gigantopithicus(Time and effort to taming and high risk of loosing progress)

Basilosaurus(They're super easy to tame if you know what you're doing and super hard if you don't. Fail to consistantly feed them and their effectivness drops which is why balm and kibble are heavily recommended, although I didn't use them. You can kite predators away and feed them with a fast Icthyosaurus or Beelzebufo. You may encounter tens of Megalodons and countless mantas during the process so kite them out before you complete taming. Low level Basilosaurus are incredibly strong but not invincible, they will have their health drained by swarms of predators. Also be warned about taking them into rivers if they get beached on rocks they die. My favorite one died from that)

Megalodon(Provided that you evade predators in the shallows you can lure them close to the beach and knock them out, but they can get killed quite easily too so you should have a Basilosaurus first)

Direwolf(Have to drag them out of the tundra with an Argentavis and tranq them at the beach or in a trap)

Mammoth(They live in tundras which are filled with predators so premeditated trapping is highly advised. My first Mammoth tame was lucky, in the middle of the tundra with zero predators anywhere but the second time many packs of Sabers and wolves attacked and killed my target. I used a raft trap but she didn't fit in it and kept sliding through the walls. I backed the raft up slowly and realized the Mammoth didn't slide out when I moved like that. I tranqed her from an iceberg. They take a while to feed as well but you don't need drugs)

Therizinosaurus(Lethal animals so you need to knock them out from a cliff and run fast to catch up. They attract all predators, take super long to tame and a few hundred biotoxin is needed to keep torpor up. One of the hardest to tame but totally worth it)

Purlovia(Super rare and need to be trapped carefully)

Tapejara(Chances of death are high if you can't guard them but with balm they tame almost instantly)

Procoptodon(They can get killed easily and are rare but once you bola them and knock them out you can fortify them with spiked walls for a quick tame, even more so with balm)

Allosaurus(They live in dangerous places and are deadly themselves for being fast moving pack predators with bleed damage. They're impossible to tame if not separated through premeditated trapping. Had to build a giant raft trap and catch one at the Northwestern Plains to tranq. Her mate actually followed me, swimming through the ocean to a beach but after landing ashore he gave up.)

Animals I haven't succeeded in or bothered to tame:

Achatina(Aware of their resource distribution but otherwise easily killed and I don't cook a lot)

Chalicotherium(Tried with Stimberries and failed, didn't really need one once I got the Stegosaurus)

Compsognathus(Not going to bother getting drugs and only prime meat for this weakling. Will for future experiments but not now)

Daeodon(Will definitely get one with Primal Pass from dungeons)

Dimetrodon(Cool animals but not useful since I don't breed)

Diplocolous( Skittish and didn't really have a need)

Dung Beetle(So, what do they do exactly? I'll hand it to them they pack a punch)

    Dunkleosteus(No scuba gear yet)

Electrophorus(devastating in the wild but killed easily as tames)

    Equess(Tried but they fled quickly)

Gallimimus(Dire Bears are way faster for travel and I failed to knock out by hand before)

Giganotosaurus(Didn't really need one even now but I still tried to knock them out and lost a frog in the process)

    Jerboa(They live in dungeons)

    Kairaku(reasons)

Liopleurodon(Rare, limited, and no honey. Only saw it once and need chronicling material for them)

Manta(They may lack speed but have good damage, still I don't have a lot of angler gel and don't really need a manta)

Megalosaurus(Since they're weak during the day they're not my preferred predator)

Megatherium(They'd be my first choice as a herbiverous tank but they only live in dungeons)

Mesopithicus(Don't really need them and they run off too much)

    Mosasaurus(No scuba gear)

Otter(Other than acting as a scarf I don't want to tame such a frail animal and loose them)

Oviraptor(Cool animals but since I don't breed tames I may not get one)

Pachyrhinosaurus(I would if I had more slots)

    Elasmosaurus(No scuba gear)

    Quetzalcoatlus(They never freaking land)

Griffin(Sure they're easy to tame but I'm not at level 85 yet.)

Titanosaurus(Don't really need one and chances of death are high)

Tusoteuthis(Honestly kind of scared to tame because of their devastating attacks, need to find a Plesiosaur and hopefully not die while taming them. Can't get pearls anywhere so I'm just going to use cooked prime meat.

    Unicorn(Griffin Kibble)
