- After 5,962 hours in Ark, and with Ab being the only map i have never played on, after 5 days of being on Ab and starting with only a deino and some basic leather armor, some metal tools and a crossbow i now have my very first rock drake(Lvl 145 first egg found). 1 Challenge down.

| Posted: 06 May 2020 10:45 AM PDT I'm trying to figure out how to get the best level after taming possible for my dinos, but there seem to be some dinos, like the giga and the spino, whose torpor timers end faster than their starve timers (I'm using dododex), which means that even if I use kibble, I'd have to feed them narcotic in order for them to not wake up. Does that mean there are dinos with which it is impossible to get a perfect tame, even with kibble? [link] [comments]  | ||
| New crashing issue - previously no crashes ever Posted: 06 May 2020 05:45 AM PDT Hello all! So I decided to get back into Ark the other day since a few friends are playing, but I keep running into fairly frequent (few times a day, no particular length of time between) crashes. There are two different kinds - one of which leaves a .dmp file, and other which leaves a .crashstack log. The one that leaves a crashstack talks about trying to assign 1.1MB into memory but failing to do so with a listed cause of the rig being out of memory. Through multiple crashes though I have watched my resource usage and my RAM has never gone past 11.2GB (not got game, whole computer) and 3.some VRAM. I have 16GB of ram and 6GB of VRAM, so there is plenty left over in both cases. I have made sure my video card drivers are up to date and I ran memory tests on both my vram and ram which came back fine. Memtest for the ram, superposition / MSIKombustor for the gpu. Not vram tests in particular, but they use all 6GB for a prolonged period of time and push it to its limits. When this error happens it pops up a little box in the Ark error style and then I click OK and the game is closed. This is the most common error and happens several times a day. Here is a paste bin of the error. (click me) The other error, which leaves a dump file, is a bit more of a mystery. I used 2 different programs to view the dump and both just open an empty file with nothing actually there. When this error occurs, the game locks up and it also takes over the computer to an extent. I can alt tab and see the other options, but cant switch to anything. Push to talk and VOIP still works. But nothing works to close Ark, I can't hit ok on the error, and I can't get task manager to come to the front. The only solution I have found is to ctrl alt del and log out of the profile. This error is much less common and has been happening once a day. Sometimes after hours and hours of playtime, and sometimes 10 minutes after startup. All of my resources and temperatures are perfectly fine at the time of crash and there is no discernible action or object causing it. Nobody else on the server is experiencing either of these issues. (click me) I am running Windows 10 Home edition on the latest update. i7-7700k base clock GTX 980 ti 6GB, super duper whatever series so its got a fairly high factory OC 16GB at 2100mhz Running off an SSD with plenty of free space Please let me know if there is any additional information or diagnostics that you would like me to run. | Please add an admin command to respawn resource nodes (trees, rocks, etc) Posted: 06 May 2020 04:32 AM PDT Singleplayer still has the problem of resources no longer respawning (even with accellerated timer and with respawn radius taken into account, and refertilizer also fails). If you google it, this has basically been a problem since launch, and the only way around it is to reset the map (thus wiping any tames or structures still on it). An admin command to respawn all trees, rocks, metal, etc on a map would be a godsend assuming that the actual issue itself can't be fixed (which I'm assuming it can't since it's been around for so long). Does anyone else agree or care about this? Edit: googling the issue, some people have narrowed the issue down to the fact that if you exit the game before a resource has respawned, it will just forever fail to respawn. So experimenting with the respawn timers and testing it in a single session will make it appear like it works fine, but mining a resource, exiting before it spawns, and loading back in will recreate this bug. | What map is best for Solo Small-Tribe PVP (PC)? Posted: 05 May 2020 08:25 PM PDT I know the topic of solo pvp has been beaten to death, and I'm not really looking for tips on how to play solo, more so I just want some thoughts from experienced players, as to which map would suit me best on Official small-tribes. I'm not looking to have a massive base, if I can keep a couple argies alive and hidden, I'm happy with that. Now, I started off on Valguero, but I was being killed quite often by lvl 400+ manas, despite it being pretty low population. In your opinions, is there a better map option, in which I'd have an easier time, in terms of being able to maintain a small base and a couple tames? I like the idea of Extinction, because I'd like a snow owl or mana, myself, but on the servers I checked, the snow biomes are always so populated. Anyways, any advice would be appreciated.
